Andrew James Hudson III, both the son of a SFMC Marine General as well as little brother of a former Marine and revered CCDA General, AJ had grown up with incredibly high expectations and disappointed the hell out of both his father and Devri when he went Fleet. The man’s (formerly) saving grace was his choice to be a Fleet Pilot, but after a desire to stay in Starfleet when most of his old squadron followed Ellie Carnegie to the CCDA, AJ went back to cross train as a Security Specialist for Fleet.

And now, here he was… a promotion to full Lieutenant and selection as a Department Head for Security right out the gate. He watched the final approach on the Bay, sad that he’d likely never pilot for the Fleet again anything other than a shuttle craft and prepared to disembark. Moments later, the craft settled on the deck and AJ stood, tugging his tunic straight. Checking his reflection in the bulkhead, AJ headed to the Bridge.

When he stepped off the lift, he let out a soft slow whistle. The Bridge was beautiful… and he realized he’d only been on an active duty capital ship’s bridge twice before in his entire career. He walked over to the Ready Room chime and hit the chime.

A strong, raspy voice came from inside the office.

“Come in,” replied the Saracen’s CO.

The door slid open to reveal Captain Colter’s ready room. The room was quite similar to its’ equivalent among other battle cruisers. What was different about the Saracen’s was the choice of decor.

Framed on the walls and desk were pictures of group of soldiers labeled ‘Delta Force’ with various identifiers: Squad A-Team 1, Squad C-Team 2, among others.There were a number of cases along the walls, holding various medals and citation ribbons. Among them, a Silver Star, a Medal of Honor, and two Distinguished Service Crosses.

Yes, this was the office of a very decorated military man.

When Hudson approached the desk, the man behind stood and extended his right hand. The man was big and solid. He had often been described as an ancient gladiator.
“Lt. Hudson, I’m Capt. DaVinci Colter. Welcome aboard the Saracen.”

Hudson reached across and took the man’s hand in a confident manner. “Thank you Captain… I’m happy to be here.” The former pilot looked every part the poster child for the Fleet that his sister and father were for the Corps. His uniform was perfect, with perfectly polished pips, comm badge and gold Aviator Wings. “Is there anything specific you’d like to address with me?” He shifted back to parade ground Parade Rest and smiled slightly.

DaVinci paused before answering the ship’s new security chief. “Yeah, your father and sister are in different branches, but you chose naval. Why?”
