Biography:
REDACTED REDACTED REDACTED REDACTED REDACTED
Arriving in San Francisco, he went directly to the Academy with a copy of his application, With all of these in hand, he walked directly into the lobby and said to the receptionist “I‘m here to join Star Fleet. I’m not leaving till you let me in.” and slapped the documents on the desk. He was there for four hours refusing to move, arguing with every administrator that arrived and probably would still be in that spot save for a singular occurrence.
A large crash occurred just outside the Academy entrance. Hearing screeching and the impact followed by crunching metal, Kane looked and saw several people injured an three vehicles on fire. He rushed out to the scene and immediately began triaging the injured. He then saw a child trapped in the back seat of one of the vehicles; it’s parent’s unconscious in the front. Two Star Fleet Security officers ran past him and started trying to pull the door open. Kane knew it was useless and knocked one of the officers out of the way, grabbing his phaser from his belt. He fired at the hinges, opening the door and pulling the occupants to safety while suffering second degree burns to the palms of his hands, face, and forearms. He continued to work on stabilizing the people until medical response arrived on the scene, at which time he promptly passed out.
He woke in the Academy infirmary. Standing by his biobed was a Star Fleet Admiral who was staring at him. “You don’t look like Star Fleet, that’s for damn sure.” he said. “But… you definitely have the right attitude. Welcome to Star Fleet Academy, Cadet. I’m interested to see what you make of this chance.” And he turned and walked away. Confused, Kane lay back and was processed into the next class over the next few days.
His time at the Academy was notable for several reasons. First, he was selected by his classmates as class leader for the first two years. This was promptly rescinded after a brawl with three older class-men. Second, he finished third in class after the General course. An instructor remarked “He would have been first had he not spent so much time in front of the Disciplinary Committee.” Additionally, he finished not only in the top ten percent of the Medical course, but graduated as Physician’s Assistant with advanced coursework and his previous experience. He was also selected for advanced training in Emergency Medicine , all of which he completed with great success. Most remarkable, was his insistence on cross training in Engineering and Science courses. He finished his Academy career as a Medical Officer with both Experimental Engineering and Science qualifications; an uncommon feat with an even more uncommon combination. He was sought after by several posts, but decided that he would prefer a ship based assignment, even if it meant temporarily foregoing some of the non-medical interests he had.
He was assigned to the USS Stephen Hawking, a Search and Rescue vessel, for his Cadet cruise. On board, he developed a reputation as a great doctor and a solid tactical officer, but a hard person to get along with. He did make a few friends, but the nature of his childhood meant he kept them at arm’s length. He proved himself to a capable officer overall, and he was promoted to Ensign and then Lieutenant Junior Grade after his actions assisting the evacuation of a stricken Federation vessel caught in an ion storm and being dragged into a gravity well. Kane boarded the vessel and remained even when given the order to evacuate. He drug two unconscious passengers to the transporter room and beamed out less than a minute before the ship collapsed in on itself. Kane’s actions saved the lives of several personnel thought lost and earned him the Citation for Conspicuous Gallantry with his promotion.
He was then transferred to the REDACTED to serve as a Medical Officer. He held this position for almost a year, when he was promoted to Lieutenant and named the Chief Medical Officer.

Hannah was still sleeping when DaVinci woke and began looking over the files of Soloman Kane, Alexis Bonner, and Soulis Haren. As he read the information, DaVinci raised an eyebrow in concern. It seemed Hannah’s friend got herself into some serious illegal activities dealing with genetics. At least she had the morals and ethics to see what Soulis was doing and attempt to keep him from completing his objective.
“Man, there is a lot of redacted info in here,” he said to himself. “Hopefully, my clearance is high enough to break through this stuff, otherwise I may have to call in a few favors. . . . “
Colter (XO/CIO)
There was a soft rustle of sheets as Hannah got up and padded toward the living area. She leaned against the door way in a satin robe and a content happy smile on her face. “You know you reset the temperature after but the bed is still cold without you…” The smile slipped from her face as she took in his as he sat behind the computer. She made her way over to him, “What is it?” She glanced at the screen, that was a lot of information. “Is that about Alexis?”
Asimina, doctor
“Some of it, yes” he replied. “But there’s quite a bit on the Kane guy she’s seeing, as well as Soulis. She needs to stay as far away from him as possible.. He’s got some mud, . . .and blood on his hands.”
DaVinci scanned a bit further. “All three of them have a lot of information that’s been redacted, so that might take some time to uncover all that, but there’s also something in here about a Project: Gynatone hat I’ve never heard of. Soulis was in charge of it and I’m guessing it had something to do with DNA sequencing or something. . . .similiar. . . “
Colter (XO/CIO)
Hannah slipped an arm across his shoulders and leaned a hip against the arm of his chair. “I’ve never heard that name, but I know while Alexis was gone from Ogawa she was working on a project for Soulis. I asked her about it and all she said was he didn’t understand how genetics or the mind worked. The theory was unviable. She wouldn’t say more about the project, said she was under orders. When I asked why she worked with him again, she said she didn’t know when she agreed to work on the project.” She let out a deep sigh at the sheer amount of time REDACTED was entered in Alexis’ file. Hannah scanned the information as Daniel scrolled through. “The details in Kane’s file don’t make sense. They seem off, but I don’t know why.” Her hands moved silently, ‘Oh Alexis what have you gotten yourself into?‘
(Assuming Colter put in his access code, new information has been added to the files. Kane’s remains stubbornly redacted.)
Asimina, doctor
OOC: Of course he did ;)
IC: “Soulis sounds like at one time he was a perfect candidate for Intel work, but he took it too far. He became obsessed with his own personal gain over helping Starfleet and now he is just not a real nice guy. I mean, I’ve done things for Intel that I’m not particularly proud of, but those were orders coming down from the brass-not my own pleasure. . . “
“For the most part, Kane sounds like a fairly decent guy, except for the short temper thing. What’s off? What doesn’t make sense to you?” He pulled his arm back and wrapped it around Hannah’s waist as he asked his question.
Colter (XO/CIO)
Hannah grinned leaning into the warmth of his arm, “A short temper isn’t necessarily a bad thing if you know how to use it. And that’s what his file suggests if we can believe it. He does sound like a good guy, and I really hope he is, for Alexis’ sake.”
She considered what was bothering her. “Well first there are NO dates anywhere in his file except for the star date that Terellia IX Colony was destroyed. Now it says his parents are unknown so it’s possible that they and anyone who knew him died when the colony was destroyed. But medical testing can very easily, even 24 years ago, tell the doctors exactly how old he was and pinpoint a year and month of his birth. But that’s not listed in his record. The file only says he is 26 which would make him 2 when the colony was destroyed. There are no service dates, no graduation date from the Academy, no dates for his education or service on,” Hannah scrolled back scanning, “this New Detroit.” She looked it over again and shook her head. “His file reads like Alexis’ He had to be young when he started all that training. She said he understood her like no one else could.”
Then she scrolled down to his physical and medical profile, but paused, “And what is that? That is NOT the medal for Conspicuous Gallantry. It’s all wrong.” Then she pointed to the medical section of his file, and her hands began to move conveying more of her thoughts than the actual words. “But this makes no sense, Daniel. It says he is covered in scars from his work and youth. The ones from his youth I might buy, with his colony being destroyed and medical aid spread thin. But the Federation sent a lot of hospital ships and opened up refugee camps wherever they could to treat people. But even as an orphan falling through the cracks, when he joined a rescue squad as an EMT any wounds he recieved should have been treated and no scaring left, unless he went weeks or months without treatment. Dermal regenerators would have taken care of the scars, even if he had to wait up to a week to be treated.”
“If his colony was that violent, we would have heard of it.” She paused, her hands stilling then only her hands continued. Growing up on Catawba, a remote colony world, we watched for news of other remote colonies or established ones. Violence, famine, outside attacks, breakthroughs in agriculture or energy production. Despite our differences colonies tend to follow the same patterns eventually. So if he is that scared there was either a lot of violence or major natural disasters - which should be mitigated by the atmospheric control systems. I’ve never heard of New Detroit. That doesn’t mean much, I haven’t heard of every colony, but it…it just doesn’t add up.
Asimina, med
“To be honest, I’ve never heard of New Detroit either. I mean, in my original time, Detroit wasn’t known for its’ hospitality. It wasn’t a place people would want to move to. They had the Lions football team for God sake. I can’t imagine a colony wanting to take on the name ‘New’ Detroit.”
“He typed in the commands of a new search for New Detroit and waited for the results to come up.
“You’re right, lover, something DOESN’T add up. It’s almost as if his background is. . . made up. . . . ?”
A concerned look came over DaVinci’s face. “I’m just going to throw something out there. Dismiss it if you want to, but it’s just a thought.”
“Maybe, his background doesn’t make sense because it IS made up. With Soulis background in genengineering, maybe this guy is a clone? Genetically enhanced? a perfect spy for Soulis?”
Colter (XO/CIO)
Hannah looked down at him, “A clone? Of who?” Alexis might not have great social skills, but even she would notice if two people looked the same. “But who would do it for him? He’s obviously studied it, but if he could do it, why does he keep trying to get Alexis to work for him?” Hannah didn’t really like the implication of Daniel’s last statement. “You mean, like, Intel grew a person to keep an eye on Soulis, to spy on him?” Hannah really didn’t want to consider what Daniel was really getting at. “You think Soulis planted Kane to get close to Alexis?” The possibility made Hannah’s stomach churn sickeningly and she needed to sit down because her knees didn’t want to work any more.
The database search took several seconds, indicating a very obscure search. Finally it came back with the following entry:
=/\=New Detroit, Parsan System, Beta Quadrant. New Detroit was problematic from it’s founding, having many similar issues to it’s Earth namesake: high crime rate, excessive violent crime, corruption, infrastructure failures, poor education, and little opportunity for residents. Syndicate influence was high.
A heraldic crest was also pictured: NDFD with a set of six gold, six-pointed stars in a circle around a field of bright red and blue alternating diagonal bars.
Heraldic crest of the New Detroit Fire Department circa 2243. One of the few effective civil authorities in the colony of New Detroit. The New Detroit Fire Department was often held up as the colony’s only redeeming quality due to their members dedication and bravery. The Department was destroyed when the colony collapsed during the Food Riots of 2251. Violence escalated quickly and culminated with the detonation of a nuclear device by unknown parties.
Forced evacuation by Federation order prior to destruction: 33,727
Estimated dead: 1,867,000
Colony scheduled for resettlement: Not Scheduled At This Time =/\=
