: Satreya nodded slowly. It was hard for her to see it another way because her entire adult life had been about trying to help people, not hurt them. But she also knew that it was more than that and that it was hard to explain.

: Exhaling slowly, she nodded again. “I know. And I know you have mine and everyone else’s best interests at heart. This will never be easy for me though, Teller, because there is a very real chance that whomever might be coming is someone who can tell me about where I come from, who might know more about my family. And that’s something I don’t want to just toss away because the situation makes us a bit jumpy.”

Satreya exhaled forcibly, letting tension out of her body. Turning her head, her dark eyes took him in and she couldn’t help but smile a bit. It started at the corner of her mouth and soon spread right to her eyes. It was a moment where she would have very naturally said some words but would probably make this whole moment awkward, rather than lovely. She and Teller had a comfortable arrangement and it seemed to be suiting both of them just fine. So far there’d been no talk about changing any of it and this certainly wasn’t the time.

“Alright, let’s finish this.”

Time would pass and they’d be ready enough to let the Captain know he could call a meeting.
