Snip

Shrugging his shoulders a little, Dante had always found the Dress Uniforms to be a little tight and stiff for his liking, but suffering them was usually short lived and necessary. He paused at the door to the docking port and turned back to the Officers and smiled at Gavain. “Best behavior” he said, “We don’t want to give a bad appearance and bring the Saracen into disrepute with the other ships being here.” He smirked slightly and nodded for Gavain to do the honors and lead them out.

Captain Knight, CO

Satreya joined them with her dress uniform immaculate. She could only hope this went better than the last time there was a formal diplomatic style meeting of another species. The whole thing with the Flea’tan had been odd at best and tragic at worst and she definitely didn’t want to see a repeat. “And sully the ship’s good name? Never,” Boja teased. “Besides, if we managed that I somehow think Dalton… Sarah?… I think she’d take it personally and I don’t want to be the one to deal with that,” she slightly teased dante.

Dante moved to reply to her, but just at that moment..

The doors opened, and Gavain stepped forward. He didn’t wear the exact Starfleet dress uniform, having opted for a slightly more traditional Galdori styled uniform. It was still Starfleet made and was the right colour for his rank and station, with the pips and combadge attached, but was styled more like a robe, with a thick strip of material coming off the right shoulder of the shirt to wrap across the midsection and under the left arm, pinned in the back and falling down over his tail.

It was much more comfortable than Captain Knight’s uniform.

Dante looked on in obvious jealousy.

“Quick question Gavain… you seem okay with it, but your people in general: yay or nay on telepaths? If I should conceal it, please tell me now so I don’t accidentally cause a scene,” Boja said rather seriously.

“In general, as long as you do not pry into the secrets of the mind, Telepathy is fine. We Galdori have a mild telepathic ability of our own, although it is not useful for much,” he revealed, but the chance to ask him was gone as he was through the doorway.

Gavain stepped into the corridor of SkyBase, and seemed to change his gait slightly. The human officers would soon find out why, as the moment they stepped onto the station they would feel a slight decrease in gravity. Gavain walked easier in the lighter gravity. It wasn’t much of a difference, 9.4 instead of 9.8, so it wasn’t noticeable after the first moment or two.

As Gavain stepped away Dante seized his chance. Turning to Boja he raised an eyebrow conspiratorially and spoke in a hushed voice. “I wouldn’t so much worry about your telepathy, as for your penchant of picking people up and flinging them around using that telekin..tele.. that force thing you do with your hand” he returned the tease she had banked earlier, and waved his hand mystically for added effect.

On the other side of the doors, there stood an old looking Laleri. Their fur was a medium brown, but peppered with grey hairs. They were hunched over slightly, using a walking stick, and one eye had an opaque pupil and didn’t seem to track with the other eye. Despite all this, the alien was dressed very well, and the rank-markings on their shoulder. “Welcome to Galdor, esteemed guests,” the Laleri spoke in common, but with a heavy accent, the higher pitched voice revealing that the individual in question was likely female. “I am Controller Vik,” she said, the word sounding like “veek.”

Her right hand lifted, and she performed a salute that Gavain mirrored. Palm on the chest, then extended out in a graceful motion towards those before her, particularly towards the highest ranking member of the opposite group. “May your hearts beat strongly, and your love grow wide,” she spoke as she performed the action, then pulled her hand back, folding her hands in front of herself. Knight might find it difficult not to notice that, much like his operations officer, the Laleri had only three fingers and a thumb on each of his hands, although the left hand seemed to have even one of these fingers half missing, the pointer finger only having two out of three bones.

Gavain

Dante nodded and smiled in acknowledgement of her greeting. Not knowing the gesture, he chose not to copy it lest the action by a non-Galdori be considered impolite.

Satreya watched, keeping silent so as to not do anything to compromise this crucial first impression.

Lt. Boja, CMO

Controller Vik looked between Gavain and the non-Galdori officers present. “You must be Gavain, of the Ashurr clan?” she spoke, welcoming. “Please, introduce me to our guests,” she requested.

“Of course, Controller. This is my captain, Dante Knight. A brave man, from what I have seen of him,” Gavain spoke, his tail twitching at the end. In the absence of eyelids, his slender tongue slapped up to moisten first one eye, then the other. He turned to the Chief Medical Officer. “And this is Lt. Satreya Boja. The chief medical officer aboard the Saracen,” he spoke, moving on to the next officer and so on until he had introduced the entirety of those who had chosen to join them.

Gavain

“Thank you Lieutenant Gavain” Dante spoke, then addressed the controller again. ” As the Lieutenant as said, I am Captain Knight of the U.S.S. Saracen. Thank you for your invitation to your world and your celebrations” he said to the Laleri, “my Crew and I are most honored by the invitation you have extended.”
