Sha smiled. She was eternally grateful that Knight was her CO and it pleased her he wasn’t afraid to put this foot down in the capacity of that position. “Three days… Yes, Sir.” She uncrossed her arms and set them on either side of her, bracing her on the couch back. “And I’m guessing by the CO’s that means I have two more nights before I can idly wander to the ship.” It wasn’t a question, and he’s know it.

“Two? Hmm” he said, and even pretended to think. “No, lets start that from tomorrow. Tonight doesn’t count, and your on leave. So Tomorrow we will call it day one, then after day three, you can return to the ship and get to work on Duty Rosters and the check-ins. I’ll arrange for new staff to be placed on remedial training on the Starbase until then. Do I have your word, Sha?”

“I’ll give you my word, Sir, that no glitches will happen. On the one condition that you’ll promise I’m your first call after station security if there is EVER a need. I won’t budge on your safety being my primary concern.” While there was a teasing lilt to her smile, it didn’t reach her eyes. She was trying to make light of it, but the fact remained. Sha knew her primary responsibility was the Captain and crew. And her stubborn half Klingon honor wouldn’t let her shirk that.

“Oh all right” he sighed, “but you do know that my career has been in Security and Tactical right?” he grinned at the CoS, “and I am not exactly old and decrepit yet” he stood and made his way back to the door, stopping and turning around before opening it. “I’m not going to have any trouble with that Klingon honor or stubbornness am I?” His question was met with a grin, the humor in his eyes obvious.

Sha nodded with a slight smile. “I am aware of your career, Sir. But I am also aware that it is nearly impossible to do the dance that Command demands of you AND watch your own back at the same time. And while I am aware you are not old and decrepit, as you say,” she managed to wink at him, “it is ‘precisely’ that reason why I want to be sure I have your back. Were you old and little threat, you would not be a Star Fleet ship Captain.”

“Good, I’m glad we have that cleared up then” he smirked.

As the man headed to depart, she gave him a deep nod of her head. “You have my word of honor I will not disobey and show my ‘Klingon stubbornness’ as it were, Captain. I will behave as you wish.” As the door opened, she added. “Though perhaps in a few days you may drop in to see that I am ‘following directions’. Perhaps you may even find yourself joining me for a drink. Just to be sure I don’t leave, of course.” She laughed once more.

IC: “Oh I don’t need to drop by to check on you” Dante said as he turned again for the door and then paused before looking back around, “Your comm-badge will alert SARAH to any time you get too close to the ship while your supposed to be on leave, having a sentient AI living in our ship is a bonus sometimes.” Now his grin widened mischievously and he reached inside his pocket, taking out a small case and tossing it to Triton.

“Besides” he continued, “In three days that becomes official, until then your old security codes are being monitored and your new ones will take effect, you’ll need to stop by to confirm them with our systems at that time. Congratulations Lieutenant” he paused a moment to let it sink in, “You are officially now the Chief of Security of the Saracen. In three days of course. Enjoy yourself.” With a final smirk, he turned and let the doors close behind him.
