=^=Exactly, but what if the ‘natives’ you found the surface are the descendants of the Iconians?=^= Jason replied to the chief science officer. =^=The derelict is the remains of an Iconian colony ship. From what I’ve been told, the people you found on the surface haven’t thought for themselves for generations. What if they were descended from the Iconians and don’t know it? Of course, there’s always Mister Gould’s theory that the Iconians became marooned on this planet and created that microwave mind control trap so they could hijack someone else’s starship. In that case there’s a possibility that the people down on the planet are descended from whoever they hijacked, but I’m thinking they’re the descendants of the Iconians. We’ve got some files from the derelict’s computer but we’ll need a computer specialist or an astro archeologist to decrypt them. Got anybody on your staff you can recommend, Commander?=^=

Two shuttlecraft warp core dilithium chambers, fused together. I also need deuterium. And enough tubing to route the matter/antimatter flow in the right direction. Sir, this thing ran out of fuel, they mined as long as they could and abandoned ship. They didn’t use dilithium. And whatever it was they used, I don’t recognise it. That’s probably why they couldn’t get their hands on any. Sir, I know I’m rambling, but this is big. We can get an Iconian ship up and running. Request permission to proceed with the reboot?=/\=

The consequences of such an attempt could be anything from the ecological disaster of the derelict exploding to a starship of such advanced and eldritch design that it might destroy both the Dragoon and the Olinski before Toro and Gould could get it under control. If they could get it under control. =^=Let me check with the captain first.=^= Addressing his commanding officer, Jason made one last attempt to minimize the risks. =^=Harn to Parker. It’s your call sir. We may need to move that ship someday but right now it seems like more trouble than it’s worth.=^=

=^=I agree Number One. We have specialized units for just this sort of thing in SF. We want data on who these people are more than anything so we know how to proceed. Right now they might be Iconian or some natives. Either way any semblance of violating the Prime Directive is a non issue. Someone else did that a long time ago if even. The CSO will go to you and lets keep this limited to the parameters we just discussed.=^=

As long as you have power to the computer systems and life support, that should be all we need. Mister Balfor will be contacting you shortly, standby for his instructions. Harn out.=^= Incredibly, Jason resisted the temptation to run his fingers through his hair and breath a melodramatic sigh of relief. The trouble with Starfleet being primarily a scientific organization instead of a military organization was the fleet was filled with officers that when faced with a challenge were more interested in whether or not they COULD than whether or not they SHOULD.

Kolar beamed onto the Dragoon and moved immediately to the computer system. He isolated the uplink/upload in a seperate computer module (mechanically) isolated from the other computer system (own data stick/sticks). He then isolated the computer system to a secondary module that had no other role aside from analyzing the data. He would be in a position to physically remove either the data or the computer module from the main computer system at any time. When all was ready he would start analyzing the data.
