Ean had been getting used to the second shift, it was where all the dredges had been who needed more training. This was something that he has gotten used to, but made him find times to miss his fiance’. Former XO Lauren Jenkins was still on board, planning their wedding and back and forth between here, Earth, and Betazed as she worked with both their families to make their dream come true. This lead Ean to take odd shifts to keep up with everything with her.

Now though, he was on a first shift and for the first time in a long time got to see the Chief Engineer. It wasn’t really like he hadn’t worked with the woman, but it wasn’t often he had one on one chances. Looking around a bit he wondered where she might be, it was early and he didn’t know how quickly she came into Engineering during her day shift. Coming up to one of the crewmen he tapped him on the said as he the crewmen pointed him into the direction he hoped would find her.

If he listened, a soft hum was coming from around the corner. A pair of legs were sticking out into the aisle, a toolbox just before them so she wasn’t stepped on. One leg was bent and foot tapping, the other leg stretched out and rocking back and forth to the hummed melody coming from the occupant who was buried up to her torso in the wall. Anyone who knew the Chief knew her pension for humming when problem solving. She said it focused her mind so it didn’t wander.

Peering over Shaun raised his eyebrow as he sensed the Chief. Hands-on, I can work with that. he thought to himself as he came over as he crouched down to get on a level with her as he waited for her to notice him. “Most times we send the crewmen to fix these panels, rare to find any officer willing to get their heads stuck in the walls like this sir,” Ean said with a wry smirk, he wasn’t in a position to stick his own head in but he was amused all the same.
