A few hours after the arrival of lieutenants Rurru jav Skahlem and Olesya Koycheva, as well as the re-arrival of Ngokav Sega’a and Sara Lovejoy, Kastarak had arranged for a meeting in the conference room. It was early afternoon, 14:30, and the ship was orbiting Earth. The reflexion of the Earth shone through the windows, giving the conference room an unusual bright appearance.Kastarak looked out the window, admiring the aesthetics of the view. Earth was much bluer and greener than his lost home planet, and had become more of a home to him than he had dared to admit to himself. In a way, Earth represented safety and continuity to him, which were attributes he found anchoring for him.
As he set out the conference room, he looked forward to meeting Lovejoy again (hoping she was doing better than last time they saw) – but especially meeting Sega’a again (the invitation to Sega’a was unusual, but as first officer, he availed himself of the liberty of officially rewelcoming his old friend back to the ship). He also had prepared for the arrival of Koycheva (whom he had met briefly in the shuttle bay hours earlier) and the new promising scientist, Rurru jav Skahlem. Kastarak had thus invited not only the department heads and Sega’a, but also the leading officers in some departments, such as Valharra and Forster in Security, and Rurru jav Skahlem in Science.
Kastarak prepared a few pots of tea – one black tea from Earth, one spicy tea from Betazed, and one eclectic tea from Risa. He also prepared a pot of black coffee and a pot of raktajino, as well as carafes of both still unflavoured water and Andorian tuber root-infused water.
The plan for this meeting was for this senior crew to meet one another, and for a debriefing and sharing of knowledge of the escapades during the mission, which had led to the MIA of former CWO Dawson.
Kastarak looked at the clock in the room, hanging over the door, and saw that the appointed time would soon begin. He waited…
Kastarak, Lt Cdr
First Officer and Navigations OfficerPawl left his station calmly and quietly. “Ensign Jiles, if I am needed contact me. I have a meeting to attend.”Pawl said quickly as he exited engineering and he moved towards the meeting that First Officer Kastarak had set up. He barely heard the reply from the ensign but he confirmed the order as he continued on. “Its nice to be back in the terrain system. ” He said softly to himself as he passed a few people along the way. As he greeted them as he passed them it was nice to see things getting back to normal he thought to himself. As he closed on the doors to the conference room. Pawl said with a small smile. “Good day to your sir.” Pawl said a bit formally. as he moved towards his seat at the table.
[[Lt_Jg ]] [[Pawl Batario]]
[[Chief_Engineer]] [[Uss_Chernov]]William entered the conference room just on the heels of Batario and gave the Engineering Chief and First officer each a nod. He still held a strange place in the command structure of the ship, he’d heard that some of the junior staff referred to him as one of the old men as one of the longest serving members and as the highest ranking non-command officer. He poured himself an cup of coffee, tea was soothing and socialising was not a soothing excersise.

(OOC: Added in Grey’s post)
Symar stood from his office desk and tapped a few commands into the Sickbay automation system, before starting for the conference room at a brisk pace.
-Lieutenant Symar: Chief Medical Officer-
John just got done with a training drill he was leading and started his way to the conference room but he stopped himself. “I keep forgetting I’m not the boss anymore” he said to himself not sure if he has to be there or not
Ensign John Forster (ACWO)
Olesya walked into the room, greeting the Captain, Kastarak, Pawl, and Symar with a smile.
“Hello, all. Sorry if I’m late. Just got settled in,” she said.
Lieutenant Junior Grade Olesya Koycheva, Chief Weapons Officer
Kastarak looked around. Most of the senior staff had arrived. Missing were the captain, the new Tellarite engineer, and the person Kastarak had been waiting for most, Sega’a.
“Welcome everyone,” he said to the the people in the room. “Please take a seat while we wait for the last officers to arrive.”
He signalled for the people to follow Grey’s example and pour themselves a drink of their choice.
Kastarak, Lt Cdr
First Officer and Navigations OfficerLovejoy had just gotten back from leave and heard she had to go to the conference room. She went ahead gave her items to the transporter Chief and went to the conference room. She had then walked in. “Hello am I late?” She asked.
Lieutenant Junior Grade Sara Lovejoy
Engineer/Helmswoman
U.S.S. ChernovSymar came up behind Lovejoy and stood next to her in the doorway, “I hope I’ve not missed anything either?”
-Lieutenant Symar: Chief of Security-
“Dr Symar, Ms Lovejoy, welcome.”
Kastarak signalled to the new attendees to take their seats. “We are waiting for the captain to arrive.”
He turned to Lovejoy, “It is agreeable to see you again after your stay on Earth. I trust you are feeling better now.”
“Yes Commander. I did need that time to myself on earth. However, I am ready to get back to work.” Lovejoy said to commander kastarak. As she sat down, she started to smile a little bit. But not too much.
John walked to his quarters. It felt weird not being a boss as he walked the halls he stretched his back out a bit and said to himself “maybe a nap will help”
Ensign John Forster (ACWO)
Kastarak buzzed the communicator, “Ensign Forster, please report to the conference room.”
Kastarak, Lt Cdr
First Officer and Navigations OfficerJohn was half way to his quarters when he heard the com. He walked over to the wall panel and opened the com =^= on my way =^= he then closed the com and made his way back. After a min was entered the room “sorry if I am late” he said finding his seat

U.S.S. Chernov“Good to have you back Ms. Lovejoy,” Symar noted.
-Lieutenant Symar: Chief Medical Officer-
With the captain appearing to be late, and Kastrak having no need to embarrass the captain any further, he decided to begin the meeting.
“Our mission in Klingon space was cut short. During this mission, our ship was hunted by Malone and his men. We do not know what the situation about that is any more. We need to find more information. Moreover, Dawson disappeared after our ship was boarded by Romulans. We do not know what happened there either. I have gathered you hear to day to discuss what happened and what you believe our next steps should be. If you have questions or comments, please voice them.”
Kastarak, Lt Cdr
First Officer and Navigations OfficerPawl was glad to see everyone, old faces and new ones alike. As he scanned the room slowly he started feeling more like home again to him. It was a good feeling But he felt the worry from Kasarak and several others which was a bit disheartening. Pawl did not probe too long if he was meant to know he believes he would have been asked. So he focused on the moment as the first officer spoke. Pawl stood and cleared his throat. “I am Pawl Batario Chief Engineer and Welcome home to all that are returning to us. You were missed and glad you are all at home now. As for our newcomers welcome aboard.” Pawl said with a calm smile on his face. He took a seat and felt quiet. Pawl hoped he was not out of place by his greetings.

[[Chief_Engineer]] [[Uss_Chernov]]Chris finally came strolling in holding a couple PaDDs with his left hand and his ever present cup of coffee in the right. “Don’t get up. I am very sorry for being late. I have had to go over and approve or deny requests for upgrades and refitting as with replacing crew. My apologies again. I did hear what both Commander Kastarak and Lieutenant Batario had to say and I second them both. First welcome back and welcome aboard. It is good to have you all here with us. As for what the Commander said, please speak freely. We need to get to the bottom of some things and we need honest answers. Please carry on Commander Kastarak.” Chris said as he found his seat and took it, placing the PaDD’s down and then then taking a swig of his coffee.

Captain USS_ChernovPawl was glad to see the captain was ok. As he saw him enter. Pawl gave acknowledgement of the captain being there with a small nod. And Pawl relaxed himself more.As he continued to listen to everything that was going on around him.

“Thank you, captain,” said Kastarak, getting up from his chair. He walked to the main viewing screen, and began his presentation.
“We will begin by debriefing the mission. Thereafter we will discuss what our next steps are, given that we have no new orders from Starfleet, our old orders remain. We have to assess how to commit to them.”
The screen moved to the next slide:
“Our mission commenced with a journey to Titan, a moon of Saturn within the Sol system, where we were tasked with integrating Romulan cloaking technology onto the Chernov at a Section 31 facility. During our time there, the base commander, Malone, boarded the vessel. Following an assessment of his actions and intent, he and his subordinates were subsequently removed from the ship.
“Upon departure, the Chernov came under attack from Malone’s forces. Evasive maneuvers were executed, and the vessel sought refuge within Saturn’s rings with the assistance of the USS Constitution. During the necessary repairs, Lt Lovejoy was temporarily reassigned to the Constitution. Once the structural and operational integrity of the Chernov was restored, our paths diverged.
“The Chernov, now cloaked, proceeded beyond the Neutral Zone into Klingon space. There, we were intercepted by the Romulan scouting vessel Rovarran, which had detected its technology in use. The circumstances did not permit a full analysis of their intent. Given the constraints of the situation, the crew implemented a deception protocol. Certain personnel assumed the roles of either captured Federation officers or Romulan operatives who had commandeered the ship. The subterfuge was… somewhat… effective. After several hours of scrutiny, the Romulan boarding party withdrew, and the Chernov resumed its course.
“It was at this juncture that we discovered the absence of Lt Dawson. The means by which this transpired remain undetermined. Investigation is ongoing. At this point, the captain ordered the Chernov to return to Federation space for reassessment.
“And now, the Chernov has been enriched with a full crew complement again.
“I now ask you for your thoughts, comments, and questions on the matter. How did the mission fail?”
