(This takes place the morning after the dinner with Malone)Kastarak had called the captain, Symar, Dawson and Valharra to the conference room close to the Bridge. Today’s meeting was a planning meeting to discuss tactical issues relating to being in Klingon space, as well as preparing for the possibility of taking on injured Klingons to Sickbay, as well as how to deal with potential hand-on-hand combat with Klingons.
Kastarak waited for the invitees to enter the room. He particularly looked forward to understanding more about this elusive species.
Kastarak, Lt Cdr
First Officer and Navigations OfficerDawson felt better than he had in weeks. Finally, something he was sure on. He felt that he was finally standing on solid ground after months at sea. When Kastarak had called the meeting and given its intention, Dawson immediately got to work, collecting what he could of Klingon tactics and culture, which was regrettably sparse. But it was enough. He had first-hand accounts of Klingon battles that detailed how they fought and their attitudes in combat, as well as some first-hand mele accounts of fights with Bat’leths, including a treatise on bat’leth fighting synthesized by an Earth martial artist and historian. Yes, Dawson felt very secure in this meeting.
He arrived at the conference room, PaDD in hand, and chimed the door.
Lt. Q Dawson, CWO
As the doors opened, Kastarak invited Dawson in. “Good morning, Mr Dawson. How did you sleep?”
Kastarak, Lt Cdr
First Officer and Navigations Officer“Just fine, sir,” Dawson said flashing a quick smile to Kastarak, “Once the others arrive, I think I’ll be ready to give my presentation on Klingon battle tactics. Wish we knew more of them, to be honest. A lot of the records are plagued with bias from the war, but when you sift through the vitriol, an interesting martial culture begins to emerge.”
Lt. Q Dawson, CWO
“I look forward to that,” said Kastarak, while inviting Dawson to sit. “Your knowledge and experience are useful for us to learn from. Yes, once the others are here and I’ve started the meeting, then the next item will be your presentation.”
Kastarak, Lt Cdr
First Officer and Navigations OfficerChris came in with an unruly mane of black hair and his uniform was disheveled somewhat and a bruise starting to form over his one good eye. He had bruises starting to form on the knuckles of his real hand and he took a napkin from the coffee cart and dotted his nose with it cleaning it out. Before he was able to crumple it up if anyone was noticing they would’ve seen blood there. He poured himself a cup, then another one for Dawson and then made a tea with the hot water for Kastarak. Turning to place the cups before the two men here then retrieved his cup and sat down. “Sorry I’m late gentlemen. I had to take out the trash.” He smirked at that. “But the refitting is going well.”
Captain Chris Taggart CO
Dawson saw Taggart walk in and gave him a wry smile. “We certainly can’t have trash aboard.” Dawson said sipping his coffee, “We run clean ship. Unmentionables should be properly removed.” HE thought of the double meaning of Unmentionables fitting both undergarments and secret individuals, and both looked on with disfavor.
“I do hope the trash didn’t cause you too much trouble, sir.” He said to Taggart, “I’d have gladly sent a security team to assist if I had known we were going to be dumping today.”Lt. Q Dawson, CWO
Chris smiled and laughed a bit then winched in a little pain from his jaw. “Well. I didn’t know anything needed to be removed until I was walking into engineering and saw him manhandle NE Williams. I must admit that I lost my cool in front of the crew there and unfortunately it came to fist ta cuffs. In the end though I removed the threat and ordered security to not allow him on board unless I say so no matter what he says or shows them. I also made sure NE Williams was taken care and gave him the rest of the day off. There’s plenty of beings there to complete the job. So what did I miss so far?”
Captain Chris Taggart CO
Dawson seemed to leap to his feet. “He did WHAT?” Dawson was seething. “He attacked a senior officer of a starship?! I should have him arrested I-”
Chris put up a hand to calm him down while smiling best as he could.
Dawson struggled to regain his calm. He had a mind to send a team of security officers to the base and drag Malone into a holding cell. But his rational brain kicked in. He had no security team. They were offloaded with the rest of the crew. All he had was Valharra and a few other officers for support. Not enough to mount an attack on a section 31 base. Not to mention what would they do with him? Keep him locked away in a cell while they perilously traversed Klingon space? It might be good to have him on board. If his life was as on the line as the rest of them, maybe he’d be more telling about who they were up against. But it was pointless to try. Malone was off the ship and if he was smart, he wouldn’t be coming back.
Dawson sat down again and collected himself. Breathing a heavy sigh, he said, “I’m sorry sir. You did not miss anything. We are still waiting for the other senior officers and security to arrive in order to give the briefing and develop a plan.”
Lt. Q Dawson, CWO
“It’s ok Quinton. What’s done is done and I’m sure I’ll get into more fights before I’m either retired or dead. But thank you for the. Update. What do you all want do while we wait?”. He took another sip of his coffee.
Captain Chris Taggart CO
((OOC: Malone is EXACTLY why I could never join the military.))
OOC: I retired from the military and fortunately met leaders like Taggart and unfortunately met “leaders” like Malone. But people like Malone was came in all sorts of ranks and sizes.
Kastarak had observed the interaction closely. He was concerned about Taggart’s state of health, but was content that colonel Malone was no longer on board the ship.
“Captain, may I make a quick examination of you while we wait for Dr Symar to arrive? I want to ensure that you are not impaired.”
Kastarak, Lt Cdr
First Officer and Navigations OfficerChris was about to tell Kastarak to go ahead when as if summoned from a spell, Symar arrived.
“Consider me arrived, Commander. I hope I haven’t missed anything important?” Symar crossed the conference room and took his seat opposite the XO.
-Lieutenant Symar: Chief Medical Officer-
Chris tried not to laugh but couldn’t help it and winched in pain again but it was worth it! Symar reminded him of himself sometimes when he was a young CMO. Letting out a deep breath and letting it out slowly. “Go ahead Number One. If I don’t let you, I’ll get lectured and I’m sure I’m about an hour or two I’m going to get a call from a very irate Admiral and will have to ensure a lecture from him.” Chris took another sip of coffee before Kastarak started in.
“You didn’t miss anything Symar… In here anyway. But if someone could be a pal and get me a refill of coffee please?”
Meanwhile, Kastarak brought out his medical tricorder. He had kept it ever since his work in Sickbay – just in case. It was like a human teddy bear, a device that made him feel comfortable and safe, but at the same time, in control. When in doubt of what to do, just examine. The same was applicable in counselling. When in doubt of what to do, examine – explore, be curious about the patient.
Kastarak scanned Taggart, and looked at the indicators. (OOC: Travis, please let me know what Kastarak picked up).
OOC: Kastarak would find a black eye that’s swollen, his lip is swollen and his left cheek bone is fractured but is minor and a few bruised ribs.
Captain Chris Taggart CO
Dawson stood and got the captain more coffee while the captain was being looked over. “Who else are we expecting?” He asked Kastarak as he set the cup down in front of Taggart, “I believe the only one missing is Lt. Valharra, yes?”
Lt. Q Dawson, CWO
Chris smiled on one side. “Thanks Q.”
“Indeed, only Lt Valharra,” replied Kastarak. Valharra’s tardiness was unusual, but gave Kastarak a respite to keep checking in on the captain.
“Sir, what did happen – exactly – between you and Mr Malone?”
Kastarak, Lt Cdr
First Officer and Navigations Officer“Well like I said earlier. He shoved NE Williams and I yelled at him to tell him that that was enough. He charged at me and I wasn’t going to wait around to see if he’d hit me or not so I decked him first. Then he came back at me and threw a few good ones into my chest and landed a magnificent right hook on the side of my face. The man is a bear at his age, I’ll give him that much. So after a few more hits we’re exchanged on both sides, I decided to end it and use my superior strength in my bionic arm and laid his a$$ out. I then drug him to the airlock like before, put on his EV Suit and shoved him out. Then came here right after I told security to not let him back on.”. He smelled the fresh cup of coffee and took a deep sip. “Ahhh.”
Captain Chris Taggart CO
Kastarak listened as he examined the data from the tricorder. While Taggart seemed to be in the right, this interaction could have had repercussions. Malone was a powerful man, albeit an emotionally disregulated bigot. Everything had be be sped up.
“Sir, I detect no substantial injuries. You are fit for duty. Dr Symar can assess pain relief and dermaregeneration should you like. “
Kastarak turned to all officers.
“We have to speed up the tech implementation. This meeting will have to be postponed. We need the implementation of the cloaking technology as soon as possible, lest Malone cause troubles for us. He has already assaulted members of this crew. There is a substantial risk that he would stymie the implementation and our own mission. For that reason, I recommend that we leave Titan at once, and en route to Klingon space, we continue with the cloaking technology implementation and testing. Comments, gentlemen?”
Kastarak, Lt Cdr
First Officer and Navigations OfficerDawson nodded, “I agree. From my little experience with him, I don’t trust Malone to let this lie. What’s more, I still have the plans for entering Klingon space discreetly without the cloaking technology, should it not be ready in time for the mission. I’ll inform Valharra when I see him the meeting is postponed, and I’ll have a security team make sure we are locked down until we depart from Titan.”
Lt. Q Dawson, CWO
Chris nodded. “I agree. Let’s do that. The faster the better. Q. Have your officers go around and collect all non Chernov personnel and hold them by the aft door. We want them all to leave at the same time so as none of them can tip off higher ups before it’s too late.”
“Number One. Go to the bridge and get the ship ready for take off. Once the non Chernov personnel are clear of danger but not in their compound, then take off. Plot a course away from our objective. Once we are out of their range, then put us back on course. They know we’re going through Klingon space but they didn’t know where or how far.”. He took a drink from his mug. “And thank you for helping me Commander.” He said with a smile.
Kastarak replied, “Aye, sir,”.
Symar mused for a second before a question that had been on his mind for a while, “Captain, Commander, do we know whether the Klingons caught wind through various channels of my revealing my… true self?”
-Lieutenant Symar: Chief Medical Officer-
Chris looked confused and cocked his head towards Symar. “I don’t want what I’m about to say seem like you’re not important or that I don’t care, but why would they care if you’re Romulan or not? Is there something going on that leads you to believe that you might be a liability on this mission or others?”
Captain Chris Taggart CO and Storyteller
Kastarak was equally bemused by the question but shared Taggart’s concern. He appreciated that Taggart asked.
Once Symar had explained his question, Kastarak would head to the Engineering. He needed to find Mr Batario to tell him to prepare clandestinely for take-off.
Kastarak, Lt Cdr
First Officer and Navigations Officer“I’m aware of the Klingons… distaste toward the Federation and its allies but I know they have considerably more disdain for the Romulan Empire, knowing that a Romulan hybrid is on board a Federation ship could cause more political upheaval than we could be prepared for, could it not?”
-Lieutenant Symar: Chief Medical Officer-
Dawson got up, readying to get his team together for a thorough sweep of the ship. “Honestly, Lieutenant,” Dawson said moving past him, “If we’re caught in Klingon space at all, your heritage will be the least of our worries. I’ve a feeling they’ll be too busy vaporizing us to even ask.” And with that he quickly headed out to find Valharra.
Lt. Q Dawson.
