Dawson looked to the Captain, confusion slightly creeping into his features. He gave a brisk nod and, when Kastarak dismissed the meeting, went out to join Taggart on the walk to Sick Bay.

“Is everything alright, sir?” He asked. He looked at Taggart closely, and saw that, while he did look better than he had when he walked in, he wasn’t doing well. Symar will certainly need to look him over to see what was affecting him.

“Yes Mr. Dawson. Everyone keeps forgets that my role before becoming captain was that of a surgeon. But I wanted to elaborate on what Kastarak told you. You looked confused but handled it well. When he said, “Mr Dawson, these are our orders. You have no responsibility as to what our mission is. To assume individual responsibility for orders from Command is not your duty.”. Well. That meant exactly what it is. I told you that we would do this but I still needed something from higher up in order to do that. With all the evidence that we got and married that with your sisters crew, Command bought it. So this is an official mission but it will go on like we talked about. It’s that making any sense?”. He coughed a bit while waiting for Q to respond and he pushed the button for the turbolift.

Dawson took in the information and felt some of his tension ease. There were many reasons why Starfleet had appealed to him, one of which being the validation in following orders. If this mission was sanctioned by Command, then it was not solely on Q’s shoulders. the top brass believed this mission vital enough to risk the treaty with the Klingons. They hadn’t forgotten her he thought. Starfleet would send someone for her. Finally, a response. Delayed, true, but a response.

“Thank you, sir.” Dawson said, “Would you like me to continue to escort you to the medical bay?”
