Pawl was still new to this chief Engineer position. He and his fellow engineering department dealt with getting caught up on some long-delayed maintenance schedules and any odd upgrades that could be done without interfering with the ship’s operations or at the space dock to handle. Pawl sighed hard as he checked with everyone in engineering before doing work himself in other parts of the ship. Plus checking in at his station on the bridge making it was still manned by an engineering officer. It was a long day for Pawl but it was still morning or at least he still thought it was as he exited the turbolift car on the bridge as he calmly made his way to the station and checked on the officer on duty there. “Please take a break ensign I can handle things till you return.” Pawl said softly to his crewman. As he watched him head to the lift and leave. Pawl took a seat in his place as he started checking over the systems from his location. All seemed well other than a faulty switch that needed to be replaced. As he opened the panel to retrieve the faulty switch and grabbed a replacement out of his repair bag. As he placed the new component into place and connected the items to power it light up properly, it tapped the switch a few times before closing the panel. He ran a series of tests on the switch before restoring its function to the switch. He started testing the items that were repaired till this point and ran tests and diagnostics on them as well to make sure they were running properly. All checks came back green. Pawl was pleased with the efficiency of the officers under his command they were performing beyond expectations. All he could do is smile at this as he entered the repaired and replaced items in the log along with the odd overhauls he could do. PAwl sighed harder than he had intended as he gave a good stretch before looking around the bridge a moment as he more away from his station to check on the others of the bridge crew that was there to see if there was anything wrong with their consoles. (He made his rounds from the helm and con to the weapons officer along with science and communications.)

Chris was sitting in the center seat when he noticed Pawl doing his rounds and smiled while getting out of his chair and heading over to him. “Lt. Pawl Batario. I have been receiving all of your numerous reports about engineering, maintenance, shift scheduling and the like. You sir have been a very busy man! I want to thank you for helping us out as Chief Engineer. You’re doing an amazing job so far. I wanted you to know that.”

“Well thank you Captain that’s kind of you to say.” Pawl said with a smile. “I figured this will give the new Engineer coming in to have some breathing room and not be buried in mountains of work when they get here.” Pawl said kindly. “All of the engineering department seems to be happy with me and my handling of the duties there.” Pawl said smiling. How is your chair, sir? Everything working alright for you?” Pawl asked calmly.

“Well. That’s a testament to your leadership abilities. If they like you, then you got something good going on. And my chair is fine. I actually need to not sit my big butt in it for too long. Stretch the legs and check on things. You know. Can’t sit there all the time. But I’m really glad that you’re going well and helping out. Once we do get a new Chief Engineer, where would you like to be placed? Bridge crew and command is an option. You’ve earned that.”

“Thank you sir.” Pawl said with a smile. “I am fairly open for anything capatain.” PAwl said calmly to the man. “And I understand sitting for to long I tend to get up and walk a bit or mayne go to the gym or do some other activity to keep me limber.” PAwl said with sincerity.
