: : : : Duncan smiled at her, she sounded a little worried he was leaving and it was kind of cute. Kind of, she had just had her foot on his crotch and was growling at him in public. “I’m not going anywhere, the party has only just started and I thought I could get some dinner, relax a bit and see how the evening goes here, maybe fill in some reports. I would love one of these toasted sandwiches, this one with macaroni cheese filling, and another mocha, raspberry with chocolate sprinkle. For dessert, I will try some of the house special, Ambrosia. Nobody makes it quite like my Gran, if Evie can make it anything like it then I would probably give her a kiss.” Duncan winked as he spoke, he did have something business related to talk privately to Evie about later on that night, but that was for Evie to know. “You can put it on my account.”

: : : : “And my name” he looked at her leant forwards as if it was a big secret, meant only for her ears. “My name is Duncan Rhodes, the account will be under the ‘Rhodes Foundation’, just put it all on that and I will square it off later.”

: : : Lily’s face took on a shocked and confused expression as she thought about what Duncan had just told her. As if a light bulb had suddenly turned on, she met his gaze head-on. “Oh…oh god you mean you want me to get you all that and correctly without writing it down,” she tilted her head as if his request was the most complex thing she had ever heard. Looking at his expression she got half a grin. “You’re serious. You really want me to get you a ham sandwich, side of mac n cheese, house salad, and Ambrosia.” Shrugging she sighed deeply and began to turn around before spinning back to face him. “Did you want soup with that too? I think she has a couple of pots back there in the kitchen. I don’t know what kinds but I can bring you some if you want.” Duncan was turning out to be just as much fun as he was easy on the eyes. Lily let out a chuckle thinking about how Duncan thought she was actually a waitress. I mean technically that was the job she was hired for but this was a party and not a Saturday night with people actually wanting food. To Lily it was more of a sampling event but if Duncan wanted some ham slapped between two slices of bread, she would do it.

: Duncans eyes widened a moment, “Ham sandwich? No no” His English accent now turned slightly into teacher mode as he smiled at her, perhaps she had just had a rough day or this was her first job or something. “Toasted sandwich with mac n cheese inside it” he explained, and lets just go with whatever coffee is up at the moment shall we? But, and this is important, ready? No soup. None. Ever, ok?”

: Duncan realized that although somehow she had wrangled an evening out of him already and was already trying to feed him half the food in the Café, most likely Evies influence, he didn’t even know the girls name. That could come later, he thought, for now she was still supposed to be a waitress and he could guess that if he began that conversation, she wasn’t about to get him his coffee. She was cute and kind of adorable, but he wanted his coffee.

“Ham no cheese got it,” Lily said walking towards the kitchen. The sooner she got his food the faster she could come back and hang with him. Duncan seemed nice. Not like half the other officers she had met here that were all about making rank. There was a calm, quiet quality about him. And his eyes were amazing. Rooting around the kitchen she grabbed an assembly of items: A sandwich, a cup of soup because he did not want a bowl of it, a pecan and strawberry vinaigrette salad. There was so much food, Lily wasn’t sure what he really did want without a menu. He also just rambled his order off before she had her stylus ready so it wasn’t exactly her fault if she got it wrong.

Duncan sat back at the table he had claimed and watched the room and the people around it. A few he recognized from the crew but many were civilians and came and went as their own lives dictated. A small smile played about his lips as he just waited, and waited, and thought of the people he had come to know while on the Outpost and those he would still come to meet. He needed his coffee, and his thoughts turned to the chatty waitress and wondered what she was doing on the Outpost, she didn’t seem the regular type to be here after all.

From where he sat he noted the CO, Mathias and Evie and a handful of others, but still had no coffee. He adjusted in his seat slightly and relaxed, putting an arm along the top of the backrest and patiently waited. The pretty waitress might have got his order completely messed up if the sound of her menu keeping abilities was anything to go by, but all he really wanted was coffee. His eyes rested on the CO again and Duncan half thought he might wander over and chat to the man, he did have business with the mans mother to attend to anyhow at some point in the night.
