Posted by Lieutenant Commander Jessica Vaughn (XO) in OMAP Party: Evelyn’s Brewing House Grand Opening - Lily and Duncan Walking past her boss, Lily scanned the room. Her feet hurt already and it was only thirty minutes into the shift. If there wasn’t the possibility of some hot single men here, Lily would have passed this up. Well not really. Due to her current financial status, she needed the work. Evie’s place wasn’t horrible to work at and the elder McGarrett let you eat all you wanted when you were working. This cut down on Lily’s basic living expenses immensely. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Lily glanced around the party. It was filled with eligible men for the night but Lily was looking more long term. Walking around with her drink tray she looked for someone to socialize with. In a corner, sipping what appeared to be coffee from a white mug and not a liquored beverage from her tray she spied a man. He was dark haired with a well-chiseled jawline and broad shoulders. He was definitely Lily’s type. Walking over to the science chief she set her tray of drinks on the table and then took a seat. “Some party huh,” she asked. “Were you invited or did you wander in,” Lily asked rubbing her foot which she had pulled from her heels. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Duncan looked up from his coffee cup and menu with a slight show of curiosity as the woman sat down at his table. As she had asked her question he had been about to reply with his usual polite charm but found himself paused, looking at the woman’s foot as she had pulled off her shoe and appeared to be giving it a massage. Wearing the new blouse that seemed to be the uniform for Evies the woman was obviously staff, but maybe she thought she knew him. After a moment he continued, trying to politely pretend the woman wasn’t rubbing her feet in front of him. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : “I got an invite” he said in his proper English accent, “I’m the stations Science Chief ma’am, I thought I would attend and see how the coffee held up. It’s good.” Pointing at the foot Duncan couldn’t help but grin. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : “I know,” she said punctuating the words with a happy tone. “I thought she was bat snot crazy for opening up a coffee shop when you can order any cup of any flavor you like from a replicator but the stuff is insanely good. I mean each cup is slightly different. Evie says it is the roasting of the beans. I don’t know but,” she leaned in conspiratorially motioning for Duncan to lean in towards her, “but each day I have been replicating three cups and then taking three cups of Evie’s. I put a number on the bottom. Even’s are Evie’s because it is easy to remember and odd because it is really odd to make coffee when you can just replicate it. Then I mix them up like that game with the ball under the cup. You know what I am talking about right,” she paused long enough for Duncan to give her an acknowledgment. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : A slight raise of an eyebrow accompanied Duncan’s nod, “oh of course, I’m right with you on that one” he told her, “makes perfect sense.” Evie must have been helping out a distant family member with getting work or something. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : “Well I mix them all up and start drinking it. I put a number on the outside and then when I am done I look at the bottom of the cup. Turns out,” she leaned back with a surprised expression, “I prefer this over the replicated one.” Switching feet she began to run the ball of her other foot. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : :”I’m sorry, do I know You? Do you need a hand at all?” Maybe the woman had twisted her ankle or something. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Lt Rhodes : : : : : : : : : CSO : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : “God yes,” Lily said leaning back in her seat and propping a foot up on Duncan’s knee. With the long white tablecloth, her leg was hidden under the table but her perfectly pedicured foot peeked out on Duncan’s side of the table. “It is so less satisfying when you have to rub your own feet don’t you think. I can only hang for a bit though. Jessica Adams, the red-headed T-Rex is on the prowl.” Lily made a small dinosaur-like growl and waved her hands up like the dinosaur but close to her body trying to emphasize the shortened arm reach. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Lily, a waitress at Evie’s : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Duncan looked down at the admittedly pretty and well looked after foot and adjusted it slightly away from a more delicate area that the woman couldn’t see by sticking her feet under the table. Last thing Duncan wanted was to get a reputation on his first visit for unsavory behavior with the hired staff. Plus it looked rather odd he guessed with the woman with her foot sticking nearly into his crotch making growling noises and claw fingers at him. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : “Ah, are you sure you have time for a footrub love? I mean that Miss Adams is lurking and people are coming in the door all the time. Maybe later?” He was maintaining his nice voice and smile, and even picked her foot up as if to oblige, hoping she had washed recently before ordering something. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Lt Rhodes : : : : : : : CSO : : : : : : : : : : : : “Sure I get off at 11 pm or do you need that in that military time thing you guys do,” Lily looked at Duncan sliding her foot off his lap and back into her black high heel. “Where do you want to go,” she turned her feet into the table and laid her elbows crossed on the table. “What about a picnic,” she suggested. Duncan didn’t need to know that she was going to slap a few leftovers into a brown bag from the party. He seemed like a nice enough guy but she had no idea if he was as broke as she was. : : : : : : : : : : : : Lily, a waitress at Evie’s : : : : : : : : : : “Go?” Duncan said with a little surprise, “Picnic?” The thought of a picnic with this unfamiliar woman at 11pm at night, while on the surface seeming to be spontaneously romantic, did set a number of alarm bells ringing, of the sort that his great great great great great greatish holo-grandad Harry had warned him about, something about digging gold and a Markle, he wasn’t sure the details and had no idea what that was. Holo-grandads stories were always weird. : : : : : : : : : : Not wanting to seem rude though as he realized that he HAD kind of hinted at meeting later, he thought of a story that Jessica had told him of unusual outing locations, bingo world or something. He could do that too, he thought, it was bound to work and show this waitress that he wasn’t her type. : : : : : : : : : : “I’ll meet you back here at 11.30pm then shall I?” He smiled, sweetly, “I have just the place in mind, you do like the races don’t you?” : : : : : : : : : : Lt Rhodes : : : : : CSO : : : : : : : : “Um races,” she looked at him quickly calculating what she had in her wallet and the price of a bet. She had to have two or three credits lying about. “Sure but you are not going, right? I mean you only just got here. Why would you leave? There are a lots of yummy things. What can I get you? I am a waitress,” she held her hands out with a smile. This was a weird place to meet someone but she cocked her head to the side looking at the man. “Did…did you mention your name,” she asked looking at him. : : : : : : : : Lily, waitress : : : : : : Duncan smiled at her, she sounded a little worried he was leaving and it was kind of cute. Kind of, she had just had her foot on his crotch and was growling at him in public. “I’m not going anywhere, the party has only just started and I thought I could get some dinner, relax a bit and see how the evening goes here, maybe fill in some reports. I would love one of these toasted sandwiches, this one with macaroni cheese filling, and another mocha, raspberry with chocolate sprinkle. For dessert, I will try some of the house special, Ambrosia. Nobody makes it quite like my Gran, if Evie can make it anything like it then I would probably give her a kiss.” Duncan winked as he spoke, he did have something business related to talk privately to Evie about later on that night, but that was for Evie to know. “You can put it on my account.” : : : : : : “And my name” he looked at her leant forwards as if it was a big secret, meant only for her ears. “My name is Duncan Rhodes, the account will be under the ‘Rhodes Foundation’, just put it all on that and I will square it off later.” : : : : : : Lt Rhodes : : : CSO : : : : Lily’s face took on a shocked and confused expression as she thought about what Duncan had just told her. As if a light bulb had suddenly turned on, she met his gaze head-on. “Oh…oh god you mean you want me to get you all that and correctly without writing it down,” she tilted her head as if his request was the most complex thing she had ever heard. Looking at his expression she got half a grin. “You’re serious. You really want me to get you a ham sandwich, side of mac n cheese, house salad, and Ambrosia.” Shrugging she sighed deeply and began to turn around before spinning back to face him. “Did you want soup with that too? I think she has a couple of pots back there in the kitchen. I don’t know what kinds but I can bring you some if you want.” Duncan was turning out to be just as much fun as he was easy on the eyes. Lily let out a chuckle thinking about how Duncan thought she was actually a waitress. I mean technically that was the job she was hired for but this was a party and not a Saturday night with people actually wanting food. To Lily it was more of a sampling event but if Duncan wanted some ham slapped between two slices of bread, she would do it. : : : : NE Lily. : : As the party went on, Ensign T’Pen, dressed her best, would arrive at the entrance in order to get in. : : Ensign T’Pen, Dressed Her Best Duncans eyes widened a moment, “Ham sandwich? No no” His English accent now turned slightly into teacher mode as he smiled at her, perhaps she had just had a rough day or this was her first job or something. “Toasted sandwich with mac n cheese inside it” he explained, and lets just go with whatever coffee is up at the moment shall we? But, and this is important, ready? No soup. None. Ever, ok?” Duncan realized that although somehow she had wrangled an evening out of him already and was already trying to feed him half the food in the Café, most likely Evies influence, he didn’t even know the girls name. That could come later, he thought, for now she was still supposed to be a waitress and he could guess that if he began that conversation, she wasn’t about to get him his coffee. She was cute and kind of adorable, but he wanted his coffee. Lt Rhodes CSO

“Ham no cheese got it,” Lily said walking towards the kitchen. The sooner she got his food the faster she could come back and hang with him. Duncan seemed nice. Not like half the other officers she had met here that were all about making rank. There was a calm, quiet quality about him. And his eyes were amazing. Rooting around the kitchen she grabbed an assembly of items: A sandwich, a cup of soup because he did not want a bowl of it, a pecan and strawberry vinaigrette salad. There was so much food, Lily wasn’t sure what he really did want without a menu. He also just rambled his order off before she had her stylus ready so it wasn’t exactly her fault if she got it wrong.

Lily the marvelous waitress.

Bump for Duncan
