0730 Outpost Hangar Bay..........

Jessica held Aedan’s hand and tried not to look annoyed as they were bumped and shoved standing in line to board the commercial shuttle. She might not be used to having a private yacht but travel via Starfleet was still better than this. Jessica put a hand on the small of her back and rubbed it. Pregnancy was not as much fun as it was in the first trimester. Yes, she had a few bouts of morning sickness and thought she developed narcolepsy but she did not seem to ache everywhere. The fourth time she was bumped into so that she stumbled back, Jessica looked up at Aedan. She opened her mouth but thought twice and closed it.

“So… how you liking commercial flights? All you dreamed of?” he said, clearly irritated as he felt moisture form on his back, but not his own as he turned finding a slobbering child on his back. “Ingrate,” Aedan said as he looked the parent dead in the eye then back to Jessica. “Ours is going to be better right, you will let bump be trained to not drool, that can be genetically removed from children now correct?” he said, half kidding yet part of him seriously toying with the idea.

“Ours is going to be way too smart to drool like that,” she replied annoyed herself. This might be her first baby but she did know her statement was false. It was just her irritation with the situation making her crazy and saying crazier things. When the third person to cut through the line, and step on her toes as he did so, Jessica lost her cool.

“Aedan I want,” she said and then actually bit her lip as if to stop the words from exiting. Why she thought this was a great idea astounded her. Why Aedan was going along with her she knew full well. He was waiting for her to crack. Aedan had promised to treat Jessica as his equal and listen to her. He had voiced his concerns and lack of interest in flying commercial yet he still agreed. All it would take was one word for this nightmare to end yet Jessica was too stubborn.

“Aaaaaaedannnnn,” Jessica groaned and dropped her shoulders almost like a pouting child. “Do something about this!”

“Number 315. Teall ler. Ah ee dan Teall ler,”a soft voice rang out slowly from the counter. The voice belonged to a woman that looked to be a thousand years old and not an El Aurian. Her hair was stark white, her face a mass of wrinkles but held a smile and kind eyes as she looked out from behind her seat.

Aedan moved Jessica to the lady as she beamed at them. “Your private shuttle is ready, first class.” she said as she had two men take their luggage. Aedan paused and looked at Jessica. “I told you, what would people think if I flew coach.” he said with a smirk on his face, having already decided early on to switch the flights. He was curious how long she could last in such a place.

Jessica opened her mouth to reply but bit back the retort and instead said, “well we can’t have that now can we.” There was no way she was going to stand in this line for another hour. Her feet were beginning to ache and her back was getting stiff. She took his hand and let him weaver her through the crowds of people. “I mean just this once,” she said in a soft tone.

“Yes, of course just this once love.” Aedan said, a smile tracing his lips as he stared at her.

The tone was soft not because she was embarrassed but more that she felt she had to say it after the fuss she put up about traveling in coach and knew she would never suggest it again in the foreseeable future. “We can do the rest of the trip like I planned though right,” she stopped just before boarding the shuttle. Everything road on her getting Aedan to stay at the spot she picked once he got there. “It’s kinda impor,” she stopped mid-word as a sharp pain in her back silenced her for a second. Jessica held her breath and then let it out in a groan. “Important,” she repeated the word as the grimace faded from her face. “I worked so hard to make everything perfect. This could be the last trip we get as Mr. and Misses,” she stopped again in the middle of her sentence. This time it was not due to a spontaneous ache in her back. It was more her subconscious breaking through the filter of her conscious thoughts. Looking up at him she searched his face hoping he thought that was the end of her sentence.

“Of course, nothing is changing at all my love. I got the flight path set up and we can go.” he said as he put his hand up to call the valet to take their items from them.

Life with Aedan moved fast. Too fast sometimes for Jessica. She had no doubts she loved him. She had no doubts he wanted to marry her. The problem was Jessica did have doubts about having a baby and not being married. At her heart, she was a traditional girl. Aedan had proposed and was ready to set a date six months ago. Jessica was the one who told him she wanted to wait until after the baby was born. The closer she got to her due date the more Jessica regretted her decision. If she told Aedan the truth and confessed that she wanted to legally be Mrs. Aedan Teller before the baby came, Jessica knew he would marry her at any second of any day. The only reason she didn’t was that Jessica wanted a wedding where she wasn’t the size of a beluga whale coming down the aisle.

“The shuttle is ready when you are Sir,” the pilot said walking pas the couple and heading towards the cockpit.

“Good,” Jessica visibly relaxed from the interruption. “I am so ready to sit down for a minute.” Letting go of Aedan’s hand, she took a seat in one of the plush chairs and began to strap in.
