Now came probably his favorite part, his medical check in. For some reason he enjoyed the clean feeling the entire department gave and it calmed him in a sense. Geth walked with a bout of confidence right up to the CMO’s door and rang the chime, waiting quietly and patiently for the okay to enter. Hades leaning close to his leg almost bored looking nuzzled his face on Geth’s leg demanding attention while they waited.

“Yes?” Brad asked, coming out of his office to see an engineer and an animal, and not quite managing to keep the confusion off his face.

‘LtJg Belmine reporting for my physical.. I was told this is the place to get it done.” Geth offered a smile before gently petting Hades as he sat beside him. “This is Hades, my service animal”

“Two in one day, I really need to talk to Wills about hiring more staff…” Brad murmured.

“Alright,” he said, heading out into the main Sickbay complex and beckoning Belmine to follow him.

Geth made a small click with his tongue and Hades stood up, following the man. “I can always come back if need be I am sure you are a busy man.” Looking around the sick bay as they walked Geth wrinkled his nose at the clean smell, it wasn’t bad just.. Not his favorite smell in the world.

“Nah, just administrative crap. Not exactly what I signed up to do all those years ago, but if you rack up enough time in service and promotions, all the fun stuff goes away and gets replaced with paperwork,” Brad said, stopping beside a biobed and gesturing for Belmine to take a seat.

“That is understandable..” Taking the seat offered Geth smiled up at the man. His hand down at his side gently petting Hades while he waited for the questions to start up. “Seems like you should be doing the cool stuff.. not the paperwork”

“Unfortunately, as a Senior Officer, I’m expected to sit back and delegate the ‘cool stuff ’ to my junior staff, so they can gain experience themselves and eventually surpass me, while I dispense advice and support when they hit a roadblock,” Brad said as he started the basic scan.

“That said, if you approach it the right way, it does have its upsides.”

“That is understandable.” Sighing softly, Geth relaxed as the scan passed over him. “How long have you been doing this?” He asked trying to strike up a conversation with the man. Geth squirmed a bit as he sat there, not really fond of sitting in one spot.

“20 years, give or take,” Brad replied. “Almost exclusively in medical, save for the year I spent getting Command certification and as the XO of an Embassy detachment. Most of it on starships, though I’ve had two shot out from under me, definitely not a fan of that. Before coming out here two years ago, I’d spent the last five of so years teaching at Starfleet Medical.”

Geth chuckled softly “I mightve seen you then at some point. You must’ve seen a lot of your time.. would you be alright if I asked what was your most interesting case?” Geth reached down and placed a hand on Hades head and smiled a bit.

“Probably my first or second mission as a CMO,” Brad said, “It was on the original Vanguard, probably 10 years ago now. We got caught in a dispute between a couple of avian species in the far-flung bits of Black Fleet space, and I ended up having to create a cure for a bioweapon one flock had used in the other. Flamingo people, if I recall correctly.”

Ooc: He probably doesn’t, because I barely do and I was also the GM. I know it’s on the new WeBB archive, though, cuz I looked it up a few weeks ago. Happened back in 07, Jesus I’m getting old. >.<
