Achilleas smiled foolishly after getting pardoned, then finished picking up the fallen books before reshelving them. Still holding the chosen book in his hand, he closed the distance to Ana and excitedly showed the book to her.

“Now this is a fantastic read if you like stories of dragons at all. It’s a mix of sci-fi with heavy fantasy elements. Has honor, betrayal, romance, combat, you name it. I haven’t finished the whole series, but I’ve liked the first five or so I’ve read.” The cover of the book read Dragon Riders of Pern by Anne McCaffrey.

Lt Petrakos, Sci

The shifting side to side slowly stopped and her head tilted to the side as Ana listened to Petrakos’ review of the book. Her eyes focused on the cover as he spoke. “That sounds… interesting,” she finally commented, her intrigue genuine. She carefully set the book she had been reading down on the chair arm and held out her hand in a request to see it.

Achilleas handed the book over to Ana as he continued to gush enthusiastically. “The world building is pretty fantastic. There’s so many different ideas to grasp while trying to figure out whether there’s any hidden intrigue between any of the characters.”

He stopped talking while noticing the book she had set down and took a look in that direction.

COS Petrakos

Ana glanced through the book, picking a few random pages to analyze the prose and style to see if it was something she would enjoy. It was a bit outside of her normal reading material, but it seemed to be enjoyable and she was willing to give it a chance. She was engrossed in the print for several minutes before looking up to notice Petrakos trying to catch sight of the book she had been reading. She flushed lightly and did not volunteer it. Expecting to be left along for her reading, she had been lost in a story of romance that was not particularly oriented to world building, although she supposed there was some intrigue, though not well hidden. She chose to ignore his curious look and instead offered the book back to him. “I can share the program with you,” she finally said, struggling to keep her tone from purely dismissive.

Achilleas raised his hands up and declined taking the book back. “I’ve already read it so you can just hang onto it. As for sharing the program, I really appreciate the offer. Hey I should share with you the one I brought along too! Are you interested in seeing it?”

He looked at Ana with sparkling eyes full with enthusiasm.

CSO Petrakos

“Oh, thanks…” Ana responded, her voice trailing off as Petrakos enthusiastically asked if she wanted to see his program. The look of discomfort that crossed her features was blatantly obvious. She was desperate for alone time in her beloved program, but she knew it would be socially awkward to ask him to leave her alone. It was her fault for not securing the holodeck, anyway. She let out a sigh that was perhaps slightly noisier than needed. “Sure, I guess,” she finally responded with a shrug.
