Willow Taylor
CO

Before Ana’s tirade about the situation could continue, the all hands broadcast from Taylor came over the communications system. Glaring again at Khauv, she hissed, “SEE!” at him, as if it proved her point about the intruder that had so rapidly disappeared. Glancing down at her container of lollipops, she saw one still out of place on the table beside it and snatched it up, throwing it at Khauv before tapping on her comm badge to respond:

=/\= This is Doctor Darren. My office was infiltrated by an unknown male. He has since disappeared. =/\=

Lt Darren, Psychiatrist

Khauv watched the sweet fly through the air, hit him in the chest and then land on the floor, where he looked at it a moment and then back up at her. “You know those things are bad for you, right?” He still wasn’t convinced there had been anyone, the tricorder showed nothing in the direction she had indicated so, he started to scan the room she was in. “He just appeared in here? No warning, no sound?”

Lt j.g. Khauv, Security

Ana rolled her eyes at the security officer. “You’d think you would be more concerned about the intruder that appeared RIGHT HERE with NO WARNING and NO SOUND than the mediocre sugar content of a candy,” she exclaimed at him, her voice growing slightly more high pitched. “Not to mention, the Captain just indicated that there are other places on the ship having the same issue.” She folded her arms across her chest and eyed Khauv carefully. “Do you make it a habit of demonstrating disbelief when situations are presented to you?”

Lt Darren, Psychiatrist

“In my job, yes,” Khauv replied, arching an eyebrow slightly. “In the absence of evidence to the affirmative aside from people seeing things that the technology says isn’t there, I do tend to demonstrate disbelief. The intruder just appeared, no warning, no sound, no trace of them existing on the technology anywhere, wanted to give you a massage and then walked off, I’m guessing the door opened and they didn’t just walk through the door? So the door must have detected something, yet nothing?”

“What reason would I have to mislead you?” Ana bit back at Khauv. Her eyes glazed slightly as though she was recalling something and a pink flush came to her cheeks as she eyed the security officer. “He did… walk through… the door,” she commented, hesitantly, realizing how insane she sounded. Her head fell into her hands again as she sighed, the annoyance with the lieutenant floating out of her.

He continued to scan the room for any traces of the being as he spoke, “Now the Captain says their are more issues like this on the ship? I’m no psychiatrist, but it sounds more like mass psychosis than an intruder so yes, in the absence of real evidence I present disbelief.” Looking at her, there was a smirk in his eyes, “The sugar content of the candy is at least a real and measurable danger.”

Lt j.g. Khauv, Security

Ana’s head snapped up as Khauv mentioned the word “psychosis.” She hadn’t considered the possibility before, but with the news that there were several of these… beings… around the ship made her ponder his suggestion, as much as she didn’t want to contemplate what that meant for her own mental stability. “Do you know if multiple people have seen the same person? That would make it unlikely to be psychosis…” she questioned, her eyes filling with curiosity as the focus on solving the issue at hand relieved her from the uncertainty of the situation she’d found herself in. Her focus had shifted such that she merely glared at Khauv as he insulted her lollipops once again and added, “I’ll throw a yam at you next time and show you a real and measurable danger.”
