As per protocol during boarding a new vessel, Duvosa made her way to the Psychiatry offices on board. Since it was a medical ship, there were several counselors on board who were trained in psychiatry and psychology. It was never her favorite of check ins, but it was a requirement. Once she arrived at the office area, she rang the chime and waited for an answer.

The door opened so quickly that it was clear that someone had been on their way out before Duvosa attempted to be on her way in. A slender brunette ran smack into the security officer and lurched backward slightly. Turning the color of a tomato, she took a further step backward and stammered, “oh, hello,” as her eyes, full of intelligence that belied her shaky greeting, drifted across Duvosa’s uniform to identify her rank and department. “How, uh, can I help you?” she questioned.

As being trained in many forms of martial arts, Duvosa naturally had a lower center of gravity and balance, and was therefore undaunted and unmoved by the woman smacking into her.

“I am here for my boarding evaluation,” Duvosa said. She gave pause, looking at the other woman curiously. “Are you all right?”

“I’m fine!” Ana exclaimed quickly and then took a few deep breaths to calm herself down. “I’m Lieutenant Darren, one of the psychiatrists. I’d be happy to help you with your boarding evaluation.” Without waiting for much of a response, she high-tailed it to her nearby office, expecting the security lieutenant to follow.

Duvosa followed the woman, stopping just inside the doorway to the office, as not to disturb or alarm the woman any further. “I do hope I am not keeping you from something important,” She mused, wondering why the woman was in such a hurry leaving the office in the first place. Duvosa looked around, taking in the space, as she studied the woman before her. Even though her eyes appeared to be scanning the room, she was actually taking Ana in, learning every detail about her.

Ana gave Duvosa a blank look at her question. “Well, no, doing boarding evaluation is my job…” she responded, her voice trailing off uncertainly as she rounded her desk to the safety of the chair. Not taking a seat yet, she collected her container of lollipops and held out the container as an offering to the lieutenant. “Here, would you like a lollipop?”
