After “greeting” Dr Lemann, if one could indeed call it that, Drake had three hours in primary sickbay to kill. He was supposed to survey conditions. A couple patients. Being attended to by what can only be described as medical personnel. Everything seems in order. The one nurse who didn’t dread the appearance of Dr Drake Marshall came over. “Detention again?”
“Yep.”
“What did you do this time?”
“New doctor, Jarvis and I were both there-“
“Say no more, I don’t want to know.” Drake laughed. “Ok. Why is it that there is only one member of Medical staff who fears not the oncoming Marshall?”
“I get you doc, nobody else does. That’s what you wanted to hear, right?”
“Seriously.”
“They all think you’re just an arrogant jackass. I think you’re an arrogant jackass who earned it.”
“So how do I get it from active dislike to neutral avoidance?”
“Show them. Do your job to perfection instead of running around calling him ‘Jasper the Ripper.’”
“First; ‘Jasper the Ripper’ is funny. But there aren’t any surgeries to do around here. I never thought I’d miss the USS Hope, but I do. I was always busy. I can count on my hands the number of surgeries I’ve done since I got here. Not one of them has been a challenge, the Captain got all mama bear about her brother. I don’t know if I can keep doing this. ‘Jasper the Ripper’ is a distraction. I wanted out of the high intensity, Emergency Response world. But there, I meant something. Here… I spend more time in trouble than saving lives.”
