Goodwin bit his lip nervously as he nodded. “Uh, yes ma’am, I have had some training…” he replied as he felt beads of sweat forming on his forehead as the realisation dawned on him that he was going to have to make a meaningful contribution. He pushed his nerves aside and put his game face on. He may have been hopelessly clumsy, useless at talking to people and as timid as a mouse but if there was one thing he was comfortable with it was science. He mentally rolled up his sleeves and looked across at T’Pris. “What do we know so far?” he asked with almost an air of confidence about him.

“That we appear to be caught in a spatial ‘pocket’ of some sort.” She said pointing out the readings that Tressex had sent down from the bridge. “Can you glean anything else out of these readings?” She asked.

T’Pris Psychobiologist

Harry peered at the scan readings and looked for any kind of indication of the type of anomaly they were dealing with. He quickly checked the readings to see if there was any interstellar gases present which could indicate a cosmic string or for any gravimetric interference. He then looked to see if there was any indication of chronitons or neutrinos that might suggest a spatial rift.

Scans from the bridge showed that space was suddenly not what one would expect. It existed in a state of flux and they were clearly in subspace. Furthermore, their high-res sensors which normally extend five lightyears, stopped short, mapping an ovoid shape roughly 2 lightyears long, 1 lightyear wide and 1 lightyear ‘high’. The edges of the this pocket in subspace were thick with subspace distortions, graviton shears and spatial sinkholes, with the Ogawa not too far from an edge. In the middle of the pocket, things seemed calmer, even if everything in this realm was likely unpredictable.

Harry peered at the scan results, fascinated by the complexities of the anomaly. “I’ve not seen anything like this before…” he murmured as he brought up the specifics. “…like a ship in a bottle…” he mused quietly as he noticed the readings from the centre. “Perhaps we should move more into the centre of the disturbance? There appear to be less distortions there, it might give us some space to think without getting battered by shears & sinkholes?” he suggested then worried he was overstepping his mark. “Um, I mean, it’s just an idea…someone else might have a better one…” he trailed off.
