The sleek lines of the USS Ogawa filled the viewport as the shuttle eased into its final approach. Lieutenant Dr. Ronda Holms sat quietly in her seat, hands folded in her lap, watching the medical cruiser steadily grow larger against the backdrop of space. Her transfer orders rested neatly in the case beside her.
Assistant Chief Medical Officer. USS Ogawa.
It was a posting she had earned through years of emergency medicine, humanitarian relief, and countless hours spent treating patients in the aftermath of disasters across Federation space. Every assignment had prepared her for this moment.
The shuttle settled gently inside the Ogawa’s main shuttlebay. As the engines powered down, the hatch cycled open with a soft hiss.
Ronda rose smoothly, lifting her medical case over one shoulder before stepping onto the deck of her new home.
She paused for only a moment.
The shuttlebay bustled with technicians, cargo handlers, and flight deck personnel moving with practiced efficiency. The familiar sounds of anti-grav loaders, transporter equipment, and maintenance crews echoed through the bay. It was organized, professional, and unmistakably Starfleet.
Taking a slow breath, she straightened the collar of her uniform and looked around with quiet confidence.
A nearby crewman noticed the blue medical division colors and approached.
“Welcome aboard, Lieutenant.”
“Thank you,” Holms replied with a warm smile. “Lieutenant Doctor Ronda Holms, reporting for duty. I’ve been assigned as the Assistant Chief Medical Officer.”
The crewman nodded respectfully.
“Welcome to the Ogawa, Doctor. The Captain and Chief Medical Officer have been informed of your arrival. I’ll escort you to Sickbay.”
“I appreciate it.”
Together they left the shuttlebay, making their way through the immaculate corridors of the Nightingale-class medical cruiser. As they walked, Ronda quietly took in every detail—the pristine medical signage, the steady rhythm of the ship’s activity, and the reassuring sense of purpose that seemed to permeate every deck.
This wasn’t simply another assignment.
It was an opportunity to serve aboard one of Starfleet’s premier medical vessels, where every mission meant lives saved and hope restored.
When the doors to Sickbay slid open, Lieutenant Dr. Ronda Holms stepped inside, ready to begin the next chapter of her Starfleet career.
