16 years ago, I stumbled upon this interesting little site that did Star Trek RP. I had never done RP in any form before. I had done a little google search for ‘Starfleet Academy’ because I was looking for the novels (I love reading the ST novels). Near the top of the search terms was this place. I started reading through posts on the Discovery and fell in love with the concept. Two weeks later, I joined.

I found the chat community in IRC and from there my life changed. At the time I had a 4 month old infant and was deep in the pit of postpartum depression. My social anxiety was so high I had a hard time leaving our apartment. STF changed that.

Here, I found community, common interests, and support. It has brought a level of joy in my life that I never anticipated and have clung to. I have made life long friends, discovered things about myself I never saw coming, and learned that I could write and that maybe I had a future with that writing.

But times change, and so do people. I’m entering a different chapter of my life, and at least for a little while I need a break from STF.

Thank you to so many people over the years for being my support system, my cheerleaders, and my friends. I have left the door open to come back (I know how this place works :P).

The Ogawa. I was on the Ogawa when it was decommissioned, and Cale and I brought it back. It’s the only time thus far a ship has been recommissioned. And it’s been a success. Leaving the Ogawa is particularly hard for me as I helped design its current spec and I and others have put a lot of effort into the ship over the years. But I know that it’s special and there are those who love it as much as I do.

I’m going to be writing final posts for my characters and I will leave the sim up to you all. If you want to continue it, I’m happy to give someone my notes. If you want a clean break, that’s fine too.

Thank you all for your time and energy. I will miss STF and miss writing with you all. After a bit of a break I’ll be back in Discord again though, so I promise not to be a stranger.

It’s not goodbye, most likely just farewell for now.
