The offer sat before her and Dira had been staring at it for a long while. Could she leave the Ogawa? Her first answer was, no, of course not, but the more she thought about it, the more Dira realized that her response was fear talking. She had grown confident and comfortable as a captain and it was hard to shake that up, to change her circumstances after so much chaos.

She looked at the offer again and thought of her mother finally getting married, of taking that leap when it felt right. She could do this, right?

Starfleet Medical needed a new Assistant Director of Psychiatry. It was an administrative role, but a complex one. While she wouldn’t be working individually with patients, she’d be overseeing not just the practitioners on site, but be partially responsible for all the therapists serving on ship, and bases, and outposts. it was a big task, but she felt he was up to it.

After all, life was an adventure and she wasn’t one to say no. She didn’t know what this meant for her and Zoi though. They would have to figure that out in the coming days and weeks. No matter what though, she was grateful for how Zoi Haven had opened her up so remarkably to the idea of love.

Staring at the request, she made the decision for herself, knowing that that was the right answer. She accepted the offer.
