“I’m all done on this one chief,” Navale called out to Sutret.”

“I’m all done here as well,” Koria called out from the other transport. “Once they’ve cleared the bay let’s head back to Engineering.”

“Aye Chief.” Navale grabbed her kit and jogged over to the bay doors out of the way of the shuttles and disembarking crew.

Lt. Huzzen, Engineer

John checked and rechecked their equipment, he wanted to make sure they had everything they would need to assist the alien ship. He turned to Koria after a few moments.
“Are we all good to go Chief?” He asked, eager to get going.

Lt McCandless (Head Nurse)

“Yes, we are good to go here,” Koria said as she closed up her engineering kit and headed for the exit. She made her way over to the runabout they were working on next and sealed the hatch, so the shuttle could depart.

A rather harried looking young woman strode into shuttle bay. For a security officer, she was disarming small at a mere 5 foot even. She was obviously muscular though, as her uniform shoulders seemed to stretch almost to the breaking point. She blew a breath up in an automatic gesture that lifted an irritating long lock of dark brown hair back out of her eyeline.

“NE Cordelle, Security Officer reporting for the away mission sir.”

NE Cordelle, Sec

Knowing they were going to tag team the rescue of these new people, Cori settled into the co-pilot seat and watched how to maintain the modifications. At the voice, Cori turned her head (it was harder to look over her shoulder in a bio suit than she remembered from before).

They had everyone they needed for this first run it seemed. “Good to go, Commander,” she said, double checking the readouts.

“Alright. Seats and strap in. Once we get docked and before we break any environmental seal, we check each other’s gear again.” Sinclair said. “We’ll make contact with their senior personnel, get a better idea of what is going on, and then triage at the hatch. Any critical cases will be transported from here directly to quarantine in Sickbay. And all… be mindful of where you are at at all times. Move slowly and deliberately. Do not, under any circumstances, risk yourselves. We are no good to anyone if we become part of the problem. Understood?”

Cmdr. Royal Sinclair, XO

“Aye sir.” Emma said as she made her way to her seat, setting her biosuit helmet beside her and strapping in for what would probably be a turbulent ride. Her phaser was at her hip and a knife was sheathed at her ankle, though it was also locked into its sheath to keep it from coming undone. Environmental suits and sharp edges did not play well together.

Lt Sutret - CE

John and Nurse Davies nodded as they both strapped in next to each other. John looked over at the nurse as the shuttle took off. He could see she was nervous and so subtly held her hand.

The journey over was straightforward and, remarkably, boring. The calm before the storm you could say. John bounced his leg up and down in anticipation and impatience. Agonising minutes went by and eventually the shuttle docked with the Celestial Whisper. John stood up and gathered the medical supplies and waited for Commander Sinclair.

Ensign Cordelle waited with all the calm of a placid lake as the shuttle took off. She quickly put on her helmet as the tell tale hiss and clack of docking took place. She locked it in and then took her position at the door, waiting patiently for the others to put on and lock their helmets. Once everyone was prepared and Sinclair was behind her, she opened the shuttle bay hatch to the Celestial Whisper, hand on phaser at her waist.

NE Cordelle, Sec

At 6 decks high and those decks being long, the Celestial Whisper was a sleek ship and every line inside and out seemed organic, flowing. The interior was bright with warm lighting and pale walls. The modest bay they were in had a couple small vessels that were a lot smaller than their runabout.

Before them was a woman with luminous blue skin Sinclair would recognize from the bridge as Nyrasa Vell’khor, the ship’s leader. She had called herself Keeper. She had a strong presence and muscular build. Her long thick grey hair flowed down her back, tinged with silver.

Beside her was a rather slim man who seemed older than her, though age was hard to gauge with these people. He was a lot taller than Vell’khor, but there was something softer about him, despite the desperation in his eyes.

“Hello,” Nyrasa said, stepping forward. “I would bid you welcome to our ship, but I’m afraid it might sound follow. We are, however, very grateful for any help you can give us.” She gestured to the man with her. “This is our Chief Healer, Zylithar K’rynn.”

Sinclair gave a small bow to both of the individuals.

He stepped forward and bowed his head to the group, eyeing them in their protective gear. “You wore protective clothing. A wise precaution against the Nightfall Plague. It is very contagious, at least to us. Hopefully it will not prove an issue for you.”

~Mischief Maker

“We are glad we were able to respond.” Sinclair said. ” I am Commander Royal Sinclair, the second-in-command of the USS Ogawa. These fine individuals are part of my crew, and are experts in their respective fields. Allow me to introduce Lieutenant Koria Sutret. She is our Chief Engineer and, along with Lieutenant Navale Huzzen, will be providing technical expertise and support to both of our ships and crews. Lieutenant Corinne Dalton is part of our Science department and one of the most talented scientists in our fleet. Lieutenant John McCandless is our ship’s Head Nurse and will be our on-site lead Medical representative and will lead our medical efforts in trying to assist. Ensign Cordelle will coordinate any movement between our two vessels.” He went on to introduce the rest of the away team.

OOC: Apologies if I missed anyone.

Cori kept behind Royal, though she already had her tricorder out to see if there was anything to detect just now. She noted that their skin was almost as bright as her own eyes, and though they had learned the planet was called Aylia, they still didn’t even know what these people called themselves. But Nightfall Plague was an evocative name, and it seemed to make the elegant ship. She just hoped it the name was less predictive than it might seem.

~Corinne Dalton

Sinclair looked at the Healer and said “Sir, is it possible to get any data or records of the plague that you have? The sooner we can familiarize ourselves with what we are dealing with, the faster we can come up with a plan.”

Cmdr. Royal Sinclair, XO

OOC: Koria and Huzzen are still on the ship working on the second runabout for ferrying people. Someone can correct me if I’m wrong, but the away team currently is the XO, Dalton, Sec NE (Ens Cordelle), McCandless and an NE Nurse Davies.
IC:
K’rynn bowed his head. “Yes, we can send information to your ship, but we can also show you what we know while you are here. But Aethrion Noctis is an old disease and not one we have had to deal with very often, thankfully. Normally we would have quarantined everyone, but we’re not equipped for that.”

“We’re too far from our world to get help. We’ll all be dead before they could even reach us,” Vell’khor said, lifting her chin slightly and holding herself tall. “Tell us what you need and where you need to go, and we’ll do our best. I’m afraid many of our crew our entering the Progression phase of the illness. It will be a matter of days before most are too disoriented and confused to be of any help.”

~Mischief Maker

OOC: No we’ve finished.

Lt. Huzzen, Engineer

Sinclair copied the bowed head gesture and said ” Thank you.” He looked at Vell’khor and said “Then we won’t waste anytime. Please lead on.” He looked back at the healer and said “How many have you lost so far? And I apologize for any offense my next question may cause, but what do your people do with the bodies of the deceased? I ask only because our medical experts and scientists often learn much from examining the recently deceased.”

Cmdr. Royal Sinclair, XO

OOC: Since Tom had to take an eLOA, Linds asked me to jump in with a medical NE.

NE Elbbirt copied the bow, somewhat clumsily. He was a doctor not a diplomat. He opened his own tricorder and began scanning everyone and everything he passed.

Lt. Cmdr. Kane, AMO

Vell’khor and Chief Healer K’rynn exchanged a look before the Keeper replied to Sinclair. “We started our pilgrimage with 352 people. We have lost five so far. But many more will soon reach the advanced phase. If we were back on Aylia, we consecrate our dead and reduce the body to ash, before returning it to the ground or the stars. But here, now, we have no such option,” she said, the calm on her face disappearing, overtaken by a deep sorrow. She went to say more but words died on her lips.

Zylithar reached out and rested a hand on Nyrasa’s arm before he continued for her. “When someone with The Nightfall Plague dies, there is completely cellular decay. There is very little left,” he said softly. “Walk with us. We will show you what we are dealing with.”

Both Dalton and Elbbirt’s tricorders were recording a great deal of data. For one, the ship itself seemed to be have many organic components that were intricately integrated, not unlike a person’s physiology. Dalton would note the presence of regenerative tech throughout the ship’s systems.

There were viral particles present in the air, though in a low quantity in this bay. Elbiirt would note that both Vell’khor and K’rynn seem to have a small concentration of the virus, suggesting they were both infected.

And then they stepped out of the bay into a small corridor. The ship design was bright and warm, inviting. They kept walking across the corridor and through a door.

They found themselves in some sort of round atrium with a large central tree. The tree boughs arced gracefully over the area and would have amped up the serene feel if it weren’t for the fact that the tree’s ovoid dark green leaves were turning black. Around the tree, dozens of blue beings on cots were being attended to by others. The only voices were those of the attendants. The patients were eerily quiet, only the occasional murmur.

The Keeper turned and faced the away team. “These are the patents in Stage 2, the progression phase. Those in Stage 1 are keeping to their pods, but at this point, the pathogen in is in our air and we could not scrub it fast enough. At this point it is assumed everyone is infected, though the latest ones have been in the last day. When they begin to hit Stage 2, there will be no one left to keep this ship going.” They were not Human, these people, but the Keeper was a leader for this people, the one in charge. As helpless as the situation seemed to be, she seemed to pull herself together, if nothing else than to present a solid presence for the bodies laying before them, and those valiantly trying to end to them.

OOC: Calder has been there all along nothing to see here, move along so says Linds ;)

Calder stood guard though at this point a weapon was unnecessary. He looked at the sick individuals he so desperately wanted to help them, but he was a paramedic not a biologist. “Maybe our engineer’s could rig up some additional filtration to slow down the spread” he said thinking out loud to no one really. He had a bad habit of doing that, and it got him in a fair amount of trouble.

Aaron Calder
USS Ogawa Security

Elbbirt heard Calder and nodded. “If we can get the biomedical labs to identify it, we might be able to program a filter to pull it out. Or even dispurse an antogen into the air system. It’s everywhere. Keep your masks on.”

Lt. Cmdr. Kane, AMO

That brought an observation to Cori’s mind. “May I ask about your ships structure? I’ve noted many organic components. Our ship uses some as well, but this seems far more extensive. How do you stop the ship itself from being affected by pathogens?” Dalton asked.
