In the Ogawa’s biomedical research lab, a message came down from the Bridge.

“Prepare for unknown virus samples?” asked one NE. “Dr. Kane to consult? Which one do you think he means?”

“Well you’ve got two guesses, and you know Mrs. Dr. Kane is running things in Triage, so which one does that leave?” a colleague retorted.

As if on cue, the doors slid open and the tattooed and wild-haired R&D director walked into room… eating an apple. “So what we got going on?” he asked around a mouthful of the fruit.

Kane, R&D

“Dr. Kane!” one of the NEs exclaimed. “We just got a message from Dr. Walker, apparently we’re to expect samples of an unknown virus to research.”

Biomed staff

Kane took a bite of the apple and stared at the NE for a moment, chewing slowly. “Ok… and?” he said around a mouthful of fruit. The NE stared blankly for a minute and Kane shook his head and swallowed. “So what do we need to do?!” he barked. “Set up containment fields around the sample storage intake tables. Bring in all the necessary PPE so that anybody coming in here is protected in case there’s a leak! Seal off the research lab from the rest of the ship’s life support and make surree we are as isolated as possible! And for f&<k’s sake stop staring at me like a lost puppy! You all are supposed to have been trained in this! So get fu<&ing moving!” he yelled and the staff burst into action.
