His eyes widened. “you’re kidding?” Sam held up a finger. “Actually I take that back. A ship full of scientists of various fields? Of course someone kept it as a pet.” Same shook his head. “Well, it’s always an adventure on our ship, though I am glad it gets spaced out a bit. And I’m very glad for tose that keep the ship running,” He grinned at her. “Especially since it helps me keep being creative with food.”

Navale laughed and shook her head. “Oh yes, your replicators are top priority over everything. It just amazing we don’t get any requests for maintenance though. I wonder why that is?”
Lt. Huzzen, Engineer
An innocent expression swept across his face. “I don’t know what you’re talking about? The replicators in the Lounge work just wonderfully. But if I should need a repair, am I allowed to put in a personal work request? Or would that be frowned upon?” In reality, most tiny issues he could fix faster than someone could get down there whenever the request filtered through the queue. But if it meant he’d see Navale more, well, he could work around the wait.

Navale grinned even while her brows went up at his claim of ignorance. “Of course you can. It’s kind of like going to sickbay. You prefer certain doctors, so you can schedule time to be seen by them. Think of us as machine doctors.”
Lt. Huzzen, Engineer
“Excellent!” Sam said, grinning. “Though it does presume that the preferred engineer not only is free but actually wants to take care of such mundane tasks. I mean, it is a replicator. Not exactly exciting work.” His eyes were still gleaming. Ahh, this was such fun!
~Sam, Host of Florence’s
“Are you kidding? What if a pressure seal goes bad, or the heat conductors on your stove go out, or the grav-plating breaks. There is nothing mundane about any repair. I am sure whoever it is you would prefer will appreciate having their talents appreciated.” Navale grinned. She liked the simple tools compared to warp cores and shields and deflectors. Oh she could do it, but it was the minutiate she loved.
Lt. Huzzen, Engineer
Stopping, he turned to her and gently pulled her towards him, eyes alight. “Hmmm, you know, I think you’re one of those people that gets all hot and bothered by tech speak, aren’t you? Not that I’m complaining. I find it quite attractive. After all, not everyone appreciates the inner workings of everyday things. It was always the part I liked best myself.”
~Sam, Host of Florence’s
Navale laughed letting the small pull lure her right up against him. “I mean talking tech is my thing and I can spend hours discussing it. Someone who can follow along, mmmm, is like the correct density plasma for an EPS relay, but not knowing how to make the two work together. But it takes a knowledgeable engineer to get the plasma flowing and the EPS conduit hot.”
Lt. Huzzen, Engineer
Sam slipped one arm around her back, holding her to him, though she could easily push away if she wanted. The other hand rested gently on her arm. “Indeed,” he said in a low voice. “Not everyone understands the delicate tweaks and adjustments required to successfully not only start the system, but keep it going. Some, who don’t know what they are doing, are likely to cause an overload. They lack, finesse.”
~Sam, Host of Florence’s
Navale could have stepped away, but that was the absolute last thing she wanted to do. One hand rested on his chest and the other slowly found it’s way to the nape of his neck. The soft tone of his voice sent shivers down her spine. The last word echoed in Navale’s head. The night was exceptionally quiet and chilly with the breeze, but she suddenly felt hot. She might melt in puddle right there.
Lt. Huzzen, Engineer
Sam did not play games, unless of course it was a mutually created one, such as this one. Her fingers on his neck made him draw a sharp breath and there was nothing for it but to do the most obvious action: he held her snugly to his and leaned in, kissing her deeply. Before it was tender and sweet, but now there was obvious desire . However, he didn’t fully fall into that desire until he knew for sure it was mutual, even thought every part of his instincts and his slightly empathic abilities told him it was.
~Sam, Host of Florence’s
A sigh escaped her lips as Sam kissed her, like she had been holding her breath waiting for this moment. She feel into the desire as if she had no choice, or maybe she just didn’t want one. She leaned in encouraging him to hold her tighter as she returned the kiss with equal depth. Her hands both found their way around his shoulders and neck, pulling him closer.
Lt. Huzzen, Engineer
Encouraged, Sam sank into the kiss and into the wonderfulness that was Navale. There was as much ease between them as there was chemistry. Nothing felt forced or difficult. It had been a very long time since he had felt this way about anyone and so he let her know through his lips and hands, the way their bodies were pressed together as if any space between them was too much space at all.
After a time (who even wanted to count right now), he pulled back just enough to rest his forehead against hers. He wanted to say something, but words alluded him.
