For a little while, he just enjoyed this, enjoyed her. There were definitely moments when part of his brain wanted to escalate the intimacy, but he restrained himself. Even if it was what she wanted, he had a special surprise and didn’t want to miss out on the moment because they were… distracted.
Eventually, he pulled his lips from hers and rested his forehead against Navale’s. “Who needs the wine?” he said with a throaty chuckle.
~Sam, Host of Florence’s
Navale hummed softly while she caught her breath. “Not me, you are intoxicating enough, Sam.” Her fingers trailed across the back of his neck, over his shoulder, and down to rest against his chest.
Lt. Huzzen, Engineer
Her fingers left a tingling trail across his skin and beneath his shirt. He moved a hand to rest it on hers and pulled back to gaze deeply into her eyes. There were many things he could say, but none of them felt right. So he just smiled deeply , slipped his fingers around her hand and and gave a squeeze.
Navale flexed her fingers around his hand and smiled warmly. She savored the last lingering moments before straightening up.
“Shall we finish our meal? I happen to have dessert and then it should put us at about the right time for something special.”
~Sam, Host of Florence’s
“I thought this already was special.” Navale grinned. “But I am more than ready for whatever delight you brought for dessert.”
Lt. Huzzen, Engineer
He chuckled. “Well, I do believe we’ve established previously that dessert is a must for it to be considered a complete and proper meal.”
Reluctantly, he shifted back to his place at the little table and continued to enjoy the fish and coconut/vegetable dish.
Navale ate every last crumb. It was delicious.
When they were done with the main course, Sam carefully packed up the dishes and reached into the cooler. He pulled out a square glass dish and pulled off the lid. Inside, were small bright yellow squares. He went to hold the dish out to her and then pulled his arm back, eyeing her suspiciously, thought there was a distinct glimmer in his eyes. “Now, I’m not sure I should share these with you, since I’m worried you might not leave any for me, given how much you seem to like sweet treats and these flavours.”
Her hand dropped as he pulled it away. She tapped a finger to her bottom lip. “Hmmm well what if I promise to leave at least half for you, and I’ll promise not to corrupt your replicator if you promise to make me more.”
“You forget I can fix my own replicator, should it become necessary, so I’m not sure it’s a fair bargain,” he countered.
He winked at her. “But I think I am willing to take the risk.” Sam held out the dish to her so she could take one. “Lemon coconut squares. Very simple dish all cooked at the same time.” It ended up being a soft cookie crust bottom, with essentially a set lemon curd in the middle and toasted coconut on the top.”
~Sam, Host of Florence’s
Navale watched him carefully to make sure he wouldn’t pull the ddish away again. She grabbed one and pulled it to her, playfully hoarding it. She took the first bite and moaned loudly. It was better than that lemon drink he made her. It was decadent and euphoric for her taste buds. “Oh Sam. I will sneak into the lounge and turn it upside down to get these.”
Lt. Huzzen, Engineer
He laughed with delight, not just at seeing her delight, but the mental image of her rummaging through the bar trying to find where his stash of goodies was hidden. “I’m so glad you enjoy them,” he said, setting the dish on the table and plucking out one for himself. There were half four left, both in anticipation of the desire to have more of them, but also to force restraint.
Taking a bite, he turned his attention to the evening sky- now dusk- and knew it was almost time. The square was one of those things that was a perfect bite, not unlike their main course. The cookie crust was soft and provided a neutral counter to the intense lemon flavour. The tartness was perfectly matched by the sweetness of the coconut and the richness of the curd came off as light. “I learned to make these one of what I dub my LR&Rs- Learning R&Rs. I am happy to relax and do nothing, but something about being around new people in a new place and letting someone teach me something new is just really rejuvenating. There’s no stress, no outcome I’m trying to achieve, no demands.” He smirked. “And there is a possibility that on said learning adventure, I might have eaten half a pan of these all by myself.”
