Drake walked out into sickbay and started evaluating the situation. “We haven’t had much chance to speak before now. These are less than ideal ‘get to know you’ circumstances. Though having the Head Nurse around will probably be for the best.” Drake liked having a skilled nurse on hand. Especially when the Emergency Department was in full operation.

John also looked out over Sickbay standing next to Drake and cast his eyes over the wounded. He nodded and smiled.
“Aye Doctor, it’s certainly not the ideal circumstance for polite small talk.” He replied.

There were reports that there were still patients to be brought into both Sickbays, but overall things had slowed down and it seemed the worst of the cases had already made it to medical care. All stable patients from Secondary Medical were being moved to Primary Medical due to the ongoing power issues.

“Although it looks as though everything is in hand. How about we grab some lunch in the lounge?” He asked chuckling to himself slightly as his own joke.
“In all seriousness though, I should probably assist with the transfer.” He added, but waited to see if Drake had other ideas.

Drake breathed a sigh of relief. “Yeah, go ahead and help out there. I’ll stay here and receive patients from downstairs. Really could use that lunch though.” He looked around, double-checking what the situation was. He always believed that the less he needed to be in Emergency Mode, the better everything was.

John nodded at Drake.
“Well Doctor Marshall, I’ll be sure to get you something once things calm down.” John stated, he genuinely would as well.

Drake chuckled. “Make sure you get something for yourself.”

At this point, Brad walked out of the second ICU suite and made a beeline for the other two members of his senior staff.

“Status report?” he asked.

John cleared his throat as Brad walked over.
“I was just about co-ordinate the move of the stable patients from Secondary to Primary Sickbay. It looks as though things are stabilising.” John then waited for Drake to add his update.

“Betazoid patient is stable and should recover fine.” Drake quirked an eyebrow. “On to whatever is next on the priority list.”

Just then, GALEN’s voice was heard. =/\=Primary Medical, prepare to receive an incoming crush injury patient from Deck 8A. ID, Crewman Emilia Hammond.=/\= It had to be one of the few last patients still out there given the affected decks were being evacuated entirely where possible.

A patient was beamed onto a biobed with multiple fractures and lacerations on her legs and pelvis and she was conscious and groaning in pain. Her breathing seemed rapid all of a sudden.

“Sounds like it’s her,” Brad said, nodding towards the new arrival. “She’s all yours, I’ll take over the coordination.”

Drake nodded and walked over to his new patient, pulling out a medical tricorder. He needed to clock what was wrong with her breathing. Could be the strain of injury, could be a symptom. He needed to know and needed to know quickly.

John walked over to Brad.
“Where would you like me Sir?” He asked, not really sure where he was needed the most.

“I’ll take your help in categorizing the patients we get from Secondary Sickbay,” Brad said. “They’ll all be stable, but even with that classification there will still be some that need immediate attention, some that are less critical and some that could probably patch themselves up with a simple medkit in their quarters.”

John nodded at Brad’s orders.
“Very well Commander. I’ll follow your lead.” Replied, ready to follow Brad and assist with the transfers from Secondary Sickbay.

Hammond’s vitals were quickly becoming erratic. A quick scan showed that the area in her thigh that had been crushed under the equipment was under higher than normal pressure that had spread into the surrounding tissues from the blood supply being cut off, known as compartment syndrome. Now that the impeding material had been removed, blood flow was trying to return down into her leg, but was being stopped by all the swelling.

OOC: I’m splitting the thread again. Sage, if you want to reply to the GM post two up from this and keep that as the ICU thread that would probably be best :)

IC: Brad walked over to the nurses’ station to get an update on their patient intake.

John followed step moving over to the Nurse at the Nurse’s station. John cleared his throat to get the Nurse’s attention.
“Would you mind giving us a handover of the patient intake. So we can get organised to see who goes where.” He waited patiently for a response.

The nurse nodded and turned to a status panel. “Currently we have 18 non-critical patients, 3 in surgery, 2 in the ICU and 1 incoming from Deck 8A. Commander Haven suffered a head injury when the turbolift stalled between decks. Medical and Engineering are on hand and they are trying to get her up here in the safest way possible. We still are getting some transfers from Secondary Sickbay, but most are here now. Secondary reports that their critical heart replacement surgery was a success so their patient will likely be transferred here or stay down there depending on timing and if the evacuation of the three decks needs to continue. There still might be potential patients out there but no further calls in yet.”
