<snip>Solal nodded and sucked in a breath. “As you may know, I recently fell ill myself.” He sighed slightly, this wasn’t a comfortable topic but his own philosophies dictated he must not show emotions. “I kept it private.” He commented. “It was an autoimmune condition, Captain. Chronic.” He sighed, this was really awkward. “I am trying to… relate to your situation, Captain.”

She nodded and folded her hands on his desk. “I appreciate you sharing your experience. I know roughly about it, but obviously no details. But I think it gives you insight into my… worries. I’ve worked very hard to get this far in my career and everything with Franks made so many things more difficult for me. In the fairness of full disclosure, I have had some… difficulties in the aftermath of that trauma. I have an aversion to Deck 9 that, while understandable, makes my job difficult. But I have been working with Dr. Grayson on processing the trauma I went with. I’m not going to rule out a connection but as a psychiatrist I keep quite confident that this isn’t some psychosomatic reaction to what happened to me. It all started after I was in the middle of doing the trauma work. Usually mind-body symptoms are a result on unprocessed issues.” She shrugged. They both had their expertise but she also couldn’t diagnose herself.

Solal looked like she’d just told him the secret to opening a wormhole to the other end of the universe. Then the look vanished. “I… do not understand that specialty, Captain. It is well outside of my knowledge.” In truth, he had a lot of his own psychological problems he preferred to ignore. “It was a genetic autoimmune disfunction passed down by…” Another little sigh. “The Vulcan side of my genetics. My… Father. Causes a host of systemic issues. The point being, I do… understand… the symptoms. I prefer to focus on the physical, Captain… That’s all.”

She nodded. “That’s a fair perspective. I just wanted you to have that information, just in case.” Myqian drew in a deep breath. “So, for the preliminary testing, how do you want to go about it? You mentioned bloodwork and such. Did you want to do that now, or for me to come back?”
Captain Myqian, CO
“Seeing as this is not an acute case, but you are the Captain of this ship, it is entirely up to you. If you’d like to do the testing now, I can arrange that. If you’d prefer to schedule a time, that is equally arrangeable.” Solal replied.

“Now is better. I’m already here and I booked off time for this. Might as well take advantage of it. You mentioned looping someone else in? We might as well chat with them too while we’re at it.”
Captain Myqian, CO
“Let me page Lieutenant McCandless, the head nurse,” Solal said. “He will assist with the testing.” He said, and pages the nurse to the office.
~ Solal
John was in Secondary Sickbay with Nurse Lyra talking with a patient.
“....and that’s when I.” He stopped mid sentence as the page came through and sighed apologetically.
“I’m sorry, I’m needed elsewhere. I’ll finish the story another time.” He said to the patient and Lyra, leaving her to finish scanning the young Ensign. He wandered why Solal had paged him to his office. He’d not had much to do with the Doctor so far. He tried to think why he had been summoned and came up with a myriad of reasons. He imagined one scenario in which the Doctor had arranged a surprise party for him and chuckled to himself at the thought of all the Doctors wearing party hats. He doubted that was the reason though, although a very small part of him hoped it was.
After a couple of minutes he made it to the door, pressed the chime and waited patiently to be called in.
Lt. John McCandless (Head Nurse)
It was only a moment before the door slid open and Solal let him in. He let the door shut behind the nurse. “Nurse McCandless.” He said. “I must request your discretion and utmost secrecy in a task.”
~ Solal
John blinked at the bluntness of Solal. Straight to the point. John looked at Solal and then at the Captain and frowned slightly wandering why the need for discretion and secrecy. But he trusted the Doctor and Captain.
“Of course. As always, patient confidentiality is the highest priority Doctor.” He replied.Lt John McCandless, Head Nurse
Dira drew in a long, steady breath and nodded to McCandless. “It’s personal,” she said softly. “Dr. Solal has agreed to look into some symptoms I’m having and I would rather keep this very quiet. And I mean from everyone outside of this room until I am ready to say anything, if there is anything to tell others at all.”
