OOC: We have a bartender! And the name of the Lounge was one that Calé and I pitched (partly as a joke), but folks seemed to like, so we’re going with it. :D
IC:
The dinner rush after shift change has dwindled and Florence’s was busy but not overly so. Sam wiped down the bar top and surveyed the small groups and individuals gathered. It was such an interesting ship to be on and he was glad he had asked to serve here. Retired from Starfleet though he was, he liked to think he was still serving in his own special way. After all, everyone needed to decompress and spaces like this were where the community of a starship revealed itself.~Sam, Barkeep
A large gentleman with short cut blonde hair sat down and smiled. “Sam. How are you?” the XO asked. He came in somewhat regularly, and had a bottle behind the bar. “All the kids behaving this evening?” he asked jokingly.
Sinclair
“So far, Commander, so far,” Nazarian said, reaching down, pulling out a bottle that he didn’t even look at and poured a measure into a high ball. He slid it across to Sinclair. “Though I will say that so far, medical ship crews are both far better behaved than most except when they are far worse. You all need to let off steam a little more often. Just my recommendation, Sir.” Though he was empathic, his skills were pretty subtle and not so much over reading of emotions as reading the tenor of a person or space. However, if emotions were really strong, he’d feel them as clearly as others.
~Sam, Barkeep
Sinclair nodded as he picked up the glass. “Oh, you will get no argument from me, Sam. I’ve been wracking my brain for an idea that would encourage that. The problem we have is that one can o ly spend so much time on a ship… holodecks or not. I’m working on a rotation to send people off rhe ship more, but it’s hard. We are always busy.”
Sinclair, XO
“No doubt. Which is the reason I’m assuming I haven’t seen that captain of ours here since her promotion. I know she’s got a lot going on, but when you see her next, tell her she’s missed down here. I’ve got an interesting liqueur from Sestas Seven that I’ve been saving for her to sample.” It wasn’t that he hadn’t heard what everyone else was- he had- but Sam knew the captain was a social woman and her increased absence from social spaces was noticed.
Navale went to her quarters to change before heading for Florence’s. Her uniform had been covered in dirt and smudged. She entered the lounge and moved straight to the bar. She had a smudge along her temple she had missed, and the back of one hand had a light pink spot from a newly healed burn. “Hi Sam. May I have something fruity and brightly colored?” Navale slid onto a stool as she made her request.

Sam snapped his fingers and pointed at Huzzen. “I know just the thing,” he said as turned to gather ingredients. He filled a highball glass with ice, over which he poured tequila and orange juice. He gave that a stir. then Sam took a bright red syrup and poured it around the inside of the glass where it sank to the bottom. topping it with an orange slice and a cherry, he slid the drink Navale with a grin. “Tequila sunrise. Can’t go wrong. Though the layers only last if you don’t stir, but the flavour is better after you do. Your pick.”
~Sam, Barkeep
Sinclair chuckled. “You should ask Sam to shake it up for you. That makes it really good.” He smiled down the bar. “Lieutenant. How are you this evening?”
Sinclair, XO
bump
Navale nodded with a grin, “Alright then, shake it up, Sam.” Navale turned to the XO, “Spent the whole day crawling around the port warp nacelle replacing optic cabling and cleaning joins and such. It was long, stifling, and dirty. It was GREAT!” and she laughed.
Huzzen, eng
Royal laughed. “Of all the personnel in Engineering, I think you are the only one who would rather crawl through the ship than walk.”
Sinclair, XO
Navale grinned, “Well how else would I get to tinker with all the really cool stuff? It won’t sprout legs and come to me.” Her head ripped to the side. “Of course of ot did we would have a much bigger problem.”
With a knowing grin, Sam stole the drink back and shook it through with the ice and strained it back into the glass. Yes, the sunset had gone, but he added more sliced fruit to the edge. He had to agree that though it was a pretty drink when in layers, the syrup in the bottom was better when mixed through the drink.
He slid the drink back to Navale and folded his arms on the bar to see how she liked it.
~Sam, Barkeep
Navale picked up the glass and took a solid sip. Her nose drew in with a pinch, her eyes watered, and she shuddered. Then she sighed. “Tequilla always does that to me, but this is exactly what I wanted. Excellent, Sam. Thank you.”
Huzzen, eng
Nazarian grinned. “You’re welcome.”
Another crewmember, this one wearing a Doctor’s lab coat and three pips on his collar came up to the bar.
“Cranberry bourbon cocktail, Sam, and I’d like an orange wedge added to the garnish,” Brad said.
Cmdr. Dr. Brad Walker
Chief of Staff
Totally not googling christmas cocktails and picking the least revolting of the lot“Commander Walker, good to see you.” Sinclair said and then paused. “Cranberry and bourbon? Now that is a new one. Haven’t heard of that before.”
Sinclair, XO
“Ahh, it’s a good combo, actually. The cranberry is both sweet and tart and balances out the bourbon,” Sam said as reached behind him relying on kinaesthetic memory alone to garb the right bottle. A brief glance as he brought it in front of him told him it was the bourbon. Soon he slide the drink over to Walker. “There you go, chief.”
“That, plus the anti-oxidant benefits,” Brad added.
Brad grabbed the glass and hoisted it in salute to Sam before taking a sip. “Mmm, just right.”
Sam bent forward and folded his arms on the bartop. “So, how are things in the medical department?”
~Sam, Barkeep
“Routine, right now, if you ignore whatever the hell the Doctors Kane are doing,” Brad replied with a shudder entirely unrelated to his drink.

Chief of Staff
Navale took another sip of her drink and nodded at Sam again. That was very good. She looked at Walker, “I’ve heard rumors about those two. Surely it’s not that bad, Cmdr?”
