“I don’t know about going overboard,” she said with a laugh. “I think you’d just get wet!” Dira laughed some more and then harder as she realized what that would man. “Actually, if someone goes overboard it’s likely because the boat has tipped and we’re all in trouble!”

She downed more wine. “But nah, I don’t think experience on the wadder would be a problem. Actually, building a team with a variety os skills would just be sensible.”

Achilleas laughed with Dira. “Of course you’d get wet!” He drank some more of his wine too. His buzz had faded a little with the earlier freak out but it was coming back. “I’ve done a lot of rowing.” He giggled for a long moment. “You didn’t always have wind on Earth and when you were on smaller boats there were no engines to propel you.”

CSO Petrakos

“See! That just means ya need to be on my team. Captain’s prerogative. But, the question remains, who else would join in? I know I can ask Zoi. She loves physical sports. But I also don’t want everyone to shy away because to seems like a senior staff thing, ya know?” Dira turned the wineglass in her fingers as she pondered.

Achilleas nodded seriously to Dira’s calling dibs on him. Of course the Captain got to pick who she wanted. Made total sense. It was a shame Solal and V’alura were sick or they could throw in their Vulcan strength to the rowing. “How about a fun incentive? Extra leave for whoever wins?”

CSO Petrakos

“Ya know, that’s not a half bad idea, actually,” she said with a slow nod before sipping more wine. “We could put it on de list of options. I wonder what Sinclair will say,” she said, amused that maybe she found her way in with the crew after she expressed her frustration.

Dira took another sip and nearly spat it out as the thought of asking Kane to join in. He would probably hate it because it was all that teamwork nonsense, but she bet he’d be good at it! “I have a wild card I might try, but I’m likely to get scowled or laughed out of the room.”

Achilleas grinned as he thought of the likely person. “Eh, where’s your sense of adventure? Nothing ventured nothing gained as they say.” He took another sip of his wine. “Now I think the main question should be, who is going to lead the other team?”

CSO Petrakos

“Hmm, den we’d need forty people. I figure we just start one team and see how many are interested and den if there are more we can start a second, but if not we just race a holographic team!” It totally made sense, right? Dira thought so.

Achilleas nodded with understanding then lifted his wine glass for a toast. “Here’s to making a team and kicking some hologram ass!”

CSO Petrakos

Dira laughed and raised her glass before taking a deep drink. Lowering her glass, she rested it on her thigh and tilted her head up to the ceiling. “I look forward to trying it out and looking up at the sky. You don’t realize how much we miss on a starship just having our eyes gazin’ at the same sight lines. But even sitting on the floor, or lying down and looking up and around, it’s allso different. Ya know?” she said, dipping her gaze back to him.

“I’ve always looked up at the sky though mainly to see the stars. Being among the stars gives a different perspective than planetside.” Achilleas mused back. “But when boating I always checked the sky for storm fronts and to see which way the wind was blowing. I think that our appreciation of what’s around us doesn’t have to be diminished by the fact that we’re looking for a reason beyond just appreciating it.”
