Maria chuckled softly to herself. “I’m sure that by this time in a few months from now, I’ll know how to take her all apart, and put her back together blindfolded. Along with all that I have to do. I had planned on doing so. One of my old department heads had such a good relationship with everyone that was under them… I really really would like to have that too. I know it’s going to take time, effort, and fairness to everyone.” She smiled wider. “I have to learn so much, including the duty roster… teams… and thats just the paperwork… then I have to learn who can work with whom, and who can tollerate who incase things happen that need very specialized expertise… especially since we will likely have to deal with some very specialized medical equipment…” She sounded nervous about it but also excited for the prospect.

And there it was, that small spark that Dira had hoped to see in some way- it made her smile. “I suspect you’ll figure it all out. And don’t hesitate to talk to myself or Commander Sinclair if you have issues or questions. We’re here to teach you what you need to know and where we can’t, help you figure out your own way through it. Do you have any questions just now? I promise, all questions are valid?”

Maria shook her head. “The only thing right now is maybe looking into the administrative portions of the terminal and PADD, or personnel files.... just so that I know how to pull them up.” She said as she nodded. “I will make sure that if anything else comes up I will be in contact.”

Myqian nodded and rose to her feet, gesturing for Maria to follow her.

She moved to her desk, it’s sleek design and obtuse angle providing both space to work but also did not take up so much space in the room as to appear heavy. “Have a seat. I’ve signed off the terminal, so you should be able to sign in with your security code. Your assignment here automatically granted you access to a certain level of files, so go ahead and test it out. We’ll troubleshoot any issues now so you don’t have to do so later.”

Maria stood up and walked over to the desk. Just as the captain instructed she sat down and turned to look at the terminal. Reaching up she quickly imput the required data to log on. She then looked at the screen for a moment.

The screen shifted to what seemed to be the usual options for any crew member with computer access, but now there were many more options. “Alright, from here you can access all your files but also the status of every person in your department, from their scheduled shifts to their personnel file. You’ll be in charge of performance reviews for your staff, but you will do these in conjunction with the XO. Also your assistant CE will help work through them too. Your section chiefs will give feedback on the personnel within their groups and you will use that to inform your own opinions.”

Dira bent at the waist and tapped a couple keys on the screen to access a different area for the senior staff. “So here you’ll find our internal communications between the senior staff group. That includes Command Sinclair and I, plus all the department heads, like yourself, but all the section chiefs too. Department heads and the XO and I are considered the Command Group and we have our own section as well. We meet weekly, so come prepared with updates on what’s happening with your department, issues we need to address and requests we can discuss. This meeting is usually, but not always, separate from any specific mission briefing we might have”
