Anthony keyed the panel to his, well Alexis’, quarters. He entered and walked over to the desk picking up a PaDD, signed it, and handed it to Alexis. “We know that Allison is going to lose it when she finds out. She’s going to go after everything. She’ll try to get more out of me and she might even go after Alexis. Here’s the thing though, other than demanding my shares in the divorce, she NOR her lawyers have done anything to pause our assets. So, before you go poking the beast, let’s take care of the bakery. Alexis, I’ve signed all my shares over to you. If you don’t want them, but don’t want to wait for your mother’s approval, you can sign your half of the bakery to Kane. Then he will own 3/4th of it. And since I am gifting them to you, Allison can’t demand any percentage of my profits. I didn’t make any.” While he talked he walked over to the replicator and after a swirl of lights he turned and set a bowl on the floor for Frigga.“My lawyer is waiting for the paperwork. He’ll file it immediately. Then send her the files and we’ll watch the fireworks.”
Anthony
Kane thought for a moment and then looked at Alexis. “Hey… I know shit like this makes you feel all kinds of gross. But this is a good call. It gets your mom away from your dad, protects him, and insulates you. Because to get to you, she’ll have to go through me. So will her lawyers. You won’t have to deal with it. And I actually want to. But… it’s your call. And I will back you no matter what you decide.”
Kane
Alexis had already signed acceptance of Anthony’s shares. She was reading over the papers while her dad and Solomon talked. “Hmmm except I know you don’t want to run a business. You want to handle this the way you wanted to handle Soulis.” There was a very matter of fact tone to her voice and quirk to her lips that showed she may not like it, but found it more than acceptable. “This protects him financially and his retirement. Even at a 1/4th ownership of the bakery, Mom still makes more than he does. Even more now that he has no income from his shares of the bakery. See mom gets money from the shares but she is also paid a salary just like she pays her employees. The courts won’t grant her alimony and her lawyers won’t be getting their fee from the settlement. Mom will have to pay out of her own finances.” Alexis hadn’t signed hers over to Solomon, yet. She wanted clear time stamps on each document, showing the progression of the paperwork. She continued to read and then looked up at Anthony. “Daddy.”
Anthony shrugged, “You said you didn’t want to take them away from her. So, you give the patents of your recipes to Kane. Your mom can continue to use them, but if she missteps, it’s another tool, Kane can use. And of course if you are ever completely done with it you can always sell those patents and recipes to Allison for a hefty sum.”
Alexis nodded and signed her shares and control of the patents over to Solomon and then handed him the PaDD. It required three signatures: acceptance of his initial 25% shares, then acknowledgement that Anthony gave his to Alexis, and finally acceptance of all of Alexis shares. “We’ll have to send a record of the marriage certificate as well.”
Anthony
Kane signed, thumb-printed, and attached the marriage certificate. “Done.” and he handed the PaDD to Anthony to send. “You send that, so I can send my file.” and he chuckled. “I wonder how bad she will lose it?”
Kane
Anthony sat down at the desk and keyed in the comm code for the JAG office at command. “Oh bad. And if her door still isn’t working, engineering won’t have to just reset the computer code, they’ll have to replace the door and probably the desktop, shelves, and any glass like surface.” The connection went through, “Cpt Drebnac’s office. Oh! Cmdr Bonner. Hold on just a moment, he’s on another call, but he said to put you through.” A moment later a nasally higher range tenor voice sounded. “Anthony. No news, nothing has changed.”
Anthony chuckled, “Oh a lot has changed. My daughter got married.” There was a spikey little laugh, “Ah, well falicitations to your daughter and her husband. I presume you have made some business decisions to ensure your daughter’s financial future and your stabilize your current finances, yes?”
“Correct Drebnac. I’m sending you the files now. You can take care of this today?” The comm was quiet as the Ferengi lawyer looked over the documents, “Yes, these are all in order. It’s early here so I will go file these immediately, in person. I will let you know when it’s done. Oh and I sent that official offer for you to pay for Alisson’s immediate travel back to Earth. Came back declined with her signature and bioscan. That VPO request is going to look really bad for her later. Alright, I have work to do.” The screen went blank and Anthony chuckled. “Well, it will be a few hours at least before it’s finalized. Dreb will make sure it’s all signed, sealed, and filed correctly before he leaves the clerk’s office.”
Anthony
Kane looked at Alexis and then took her hand. “Comm us when its done. We’ll be in our quarters. There is a lot to discuss.” He looked at Alexis and said “Ready? Or is there anything you need right now?”
Kane
“No nothing I need right now.” She stood, letting his hand pull her up, “Except to get out of this dress uniform.” Anthony thought he might pull a muscle. Alexis was oblivious as she turned her head to call Frigga. “You two go on, I can babysit Frigga for a few hours.” Anthony laughed at his own joke, fully aware he was probably the only one enjoying it. He held up a brand new bright yellow tennis ball. “You wanna stay don’t you Frigga.” The dog trotted over and sat right at his feet, eyes fixed on the ball.
Alexis sighed and shook her head as they walked out. “Everyone bribes my…our dog.” They moved down the corridor to their quarters. As the door slid shut, Alexis asked, “What do we need to discuss?”
Alexis
Kane undid the hair tie and shook out his hair. He then sighed and reached forward and started undoing her tunic.
Alexis stepped in close to him running her fingers through his hair before reaching for the closure of his tunic.
“Well… there is a certain social convention in many cultures that is deemed ‘consummation of the marriage’. So… we’re gonna do that. And we’re gonna keep on doing that until we feel like stopping.” He tossed her tunic to the floor along with his and he reached down and scooped her up off the floor and held her against him. He walked towards the bedroom as he leaned in and kissed her.
Kane, Husband of Alexis
Alexis stared into his eyes, “Oh good because I really didn’t want to talk.” Her arms went around him, pressing so close they might be trying meld together. She kissed him back with all the feeling and meaning that she didn’t have words to express, but their hearts understood.
Lex, Wife of Kane
A few hours later, the comms chirped and Kane rolled over and silenced it. “I bet that is your dad. Are you gonna get it? Or…” and he grinned and kissed her.
Kane
Alexis shrugged and kissed him, her hand caressing up and down his back. After several minutes she answered him, “No, he hasn’t commed again, and I don’t feel like stopping.” She sighed, “Unless of course you want to know what it is right now.” Alexis kissed him again, “I love you.”
Alexis
Kane looked at her for a long moment, a thoughtful and slightly confused look on his face. “I love you too, Lex. More than anything.” He kissed her back, and soon the vomm was the furthest thing from his mind.
Kane
The earlier comm had been a request for Frigga’s presence and when Alexis didn’t answer, GALEN had simply located Frigga and summoned her. Anthony, no matter how quickly Drebnac got the papers filed, had no intention of bother thing for at least 12 hours. He certainly couldn’t have his new son-in-law thinking he really was trying to ruin all his fun. Anthony chuckled to himself. It had been long enough he supposed and he tapped his combadge. =/\=Cmdr Bonner to Cmdr Kane. Whenever you have time.=/\= Anthony chuckled and wondered which of them would answer.
Bonner
Kane looked at his wife and said “Now then… which one of us is he talking to is the question.” and he smiled and kissed Alexis and then tapped the comm by the bed to audio only. =/\= What? =/\= was all he said.
Kane
Anthony rolled his eyes with a laugh. He hadn’t expected anything else. =/\=I received that confirmation we were waiting for. I shouldn’t interrupt but I’m really curious about what’s gonna happen, so whenever you proceed I’d like to know.=/\=
Alexis had shrugged, which only curled her closer against him when Solomon asked who her dad was talking to. Given her father’s answer, “He’s talking to you.” She kissed his neck and then laid against his shoulder and closed her eyes.
Alexis, the other Kane
Kane looked down at her and said “Lex… we gotta do this. Pull the bandaid off. Quick and get it over with.” He tapped the comms. =/\= Thirty minutes. Meet you there in twenty. =/\= and he closed the comms. H3 sat up and sighed. Looking down at her, he smiled. “I’m really happy you let me marry you.” and he stood up and started getting dressed.
Kane
Alexis sat up next to him, kissed him with a soft sigh. “I’m really glad you drew that picture.” Which one? The one he drew of their hands and her wearing an engagement ring, but really it could have been any of them. Solomon, along with his drawings, made Alexis think about things she never took the time to consider. She stood when he did and kissed him again, quickly. “I’m glad I was wrong and you were right.” She grabbed her close and disappeared into the bathroom.
Twenty minutes later they were walking back into Anthony’s quarters. On his computer screen was the confirmation of all the filed documents. “She’ll get notice of the transfer of shares in about 4 hours.”
Anthony
Kane nodded and said “Then let’s get this bandaid off and clean the wound.” He went to the computer terminal and tapped in some commands. “Ok, she’s in the Lounge. I’m gonna ping her for a message waiting for he runner quarters, annnnd sent. Ok.” He looked up at Anthony and Alexis. “Here is how this is gonna play more than likely, based on her shown behaviors and personality. She’s gonna get that message, see the holos and the vid, and lose her s#!t. She will more than likely storm her way to our quarters first to try and confront Alexis because that is who she targets. When we aren’t there, she will come here. And she is gonna be on fire. Anthony, you answer the door. Lex, if you don’t wanna deal with this, you don’t have to. You can be in the bedroom or go to the lab if you want. If you wanna stay, just know she is gonna try to hurt you. And you too, Anthony. Accept it. Know its gonna happen. And then just move past it when it happens. We can’t give her any room to manipulate or play us against each other. Are we all on the same page?”
Kane
It was so tempting to not be there. To go work in the lab or sickbay. Alexis found dealing with things like this repulsive. Not just because it was a waste of time that could be spent more productively, but because she didn’t like dealing with the emotional details. If she was being honest and let herself acknowledge how she felt, Alisson had hurt her, deeply. Alexis could look back and see how it happened over the years, and even acknowledge that she chose to ignore it. Even if things weren’t perfect, if her mother didn’t understand her, Alexis had allowed herself to believe that both her parents loved her. That just wasn’t true. Operating with false assumptions ruined the data and the accuracy of the analysis. Alexis walked over to the replicator. The lights swirled and she walked away with a bright red carbonated drink which she took with her to the couch. “We’re on the same page.”
Anthony watched Alexis as she thought and then made her decision. He really would rather her go to the lab, but like he’d told Kane, Alexis had far too few choices when it came to her mother and he would do his best not to influence her choices. He nodded to Kane, “Yep we’re good.”
Alisson got the ping that she had a message. She was sure it was either from the really expensive (so they must ensure she won) lawyer or a friend from back home. She could check it later. Right now she was enjoying the attention of people in the lounge. She’d made bagels, of every flavor, and they were still freshly warm out of the oven. People were just scrabbling over themselves to get even just one. She chatted and was charming. Why, everyone just loved her. Except for those annoying scientists from the arboretum. They liked her, but they just thought Anthony was brilliant. Brilliant. That term was one of the nicer ones used to describe her daughter. Alisson prided herself on how well she pretended to make it a compliment when she talked about Alexis. If people just knew what she went though trying to raise her. And Anthony! Anthony encouraging her to just be strange and uncooperative all the time. Making Alexis like him more than her own mother. How dare he?! Well she would finally get what she deserved out of that marriage.
An hour later Alisson finally went back to her quarters. She was going to make soft rolls to take to the lounge for the dinner rush. Yes everyone would like that. Alisson walked over to the table and tossed flower down on the surface and began to add ingredients to the bowl. “Computer play my messages.” First there was one from Rose about the bakery and a special order. Then there was one from one of the other Star Fleet wives. One from her lawyer telling her again she needed to leave the ship. Well he didn’t know what he was talking about. She was enjoying herself. The last one had a video that she wasn’t really paying attention to at first. ‘Alexis what vows do you have for the person beside you?‘
Alisson’s head snapped up like a hunting dog that just caught scent. What? She walked over to the console, damp floured hands leaving prints on the desk, and leaned in to watch. Alisson blinked. Alexis got married!? without her? What was she wearing? When did this happen? There was no ship wide announcement? Didn’t they still do those? How could she not tell her own mother! And no cake? Oh the cakes Alisson could have made. Works of art that should never be eaten, but tasted better than they looked. Alisson sighed with longing before she remembered she was mad.
Then the pictures started. Was that…FRIGGA? Alexis brought that d@mn dog with her but not her own mother? Alisson seethed, grinding her teeth. However it was the picture of Anthony holding a glass of champagne and smiling like the proudest father ever that made Alisson pick up and throw the computer terminal across the room. Where the screen broke and the glass of the coffee table did to as it landed. Alisson only managed to remember to take her apron off. She was quite a sight with her hair and clothes covered in flour and dough, her hair falling in strands, and alternating between muttering and screeching as she made her way down the corridor. She left floury handprints behind her.
Where would Alexis be? Well if Alexis was normal she’d be in her quarters celebrating with her new husband. But Alexis wouldn’t do something like that. Honestly how did they even get her to take 20 minutes off to get married? No Alisson took the lift to deck 12 and tried to make the computer let her into secondary sickbay because that HAD to be where Alexis was.
=/\=CMDR KANE, YOU WISHED TO BE INFORMED OF ALISSON BONNER’S MOVEMENTS. SHE IS ATTEMPTING TO GET INTO SECONDARY SICKBAY. SHOULD I CALL SECURITY?=/\= GALEN’s ever helpful voice sounded in Anthony’s quarters, clearly speaking to Solomon.
Alisson
Kane took a breath. =/\= Negative GALEN. Inform Ms. Turner that Dr. Kane and Dr. Kane are in Commander Bonner’s quarters. And they do not wish to be disturbed. Let me know when she gets off the turbolift on this deck. =/\= he said flatly. He looked at Alexis, then Anthony. “Show time.”
Kane
Poor GALEN was confused. =/\=I AM SORRY CMDR KANE WE DO NOT HAVE A MS. TURNER ON BOARD.=/\= Alexis sighed. “GALEN pull language databanks and process the definition of the phrase ‘maiden name’ from the terran language banks. Then pull your cultural databanks concerning marriage and divorce and naming conventions. Alisson Bonner is seeing a divorce from Lt Cmdr Anthony Bonner.”
=/\=AH YES SO SHE WILL REVERT TO THIS MAIDEN NAME…ACCESSING PERSONNEL FILE. AH SHE WILL NOW BE MS. TURNER. THANK YOU DR BONNER…” there was a pause. “I HAVE A CERTIFICATE OF MARRIAGE ON FILE. IS THIS WHY CMDR KANE REFERRED TO YOU AS WELL AS DR KANE?=/\=
Alexis grinned, “That is correct GALEN.”
=/\=THEN I SHOULD CONGRATULATE YOU BOTH. I DO NOT HAVE…=/\=
“Deliver the message GALEN.”
On deck 12 GALEN’s voice sounded repeatedly arguing with the woman. =/\=MRS BONNER YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED IN SECONDARY SICKBAY. IF YOU ARE ILL PLEASE FOLLOW THE WHITE DOTS TO PRIMARY SICKBAY.=/\= GALEN repeated the message no matter how offensive the woman’s remarks became. Then there was a pause in the repeated message.
=/\=MS. TURNER....MS TURNER....MS TURNER=/\=
Alisson paused in her tirade. Turner she was a married woman how dare this convoluted computer call her Turner. Anthony must have said something. Ruined her opportunity to tell her side of the story. The truth! And now everyone was going to think less of her, side with him and Alexis. How DARE they!!! “WHAT?! You stupid computer!”
=/\=DR. KANE AND DR. KANE ARE IN COMMANDER BONNER’S QUARTERS. THEY DO NOT WISH TO BE DISTURBED. MAY I TAKE A MESSAGE?=/\=
Alisson, flour, water, and dough covered and spitting mad, made her way to the turbolift. Where had Anthony moved to? She hadn’t thought about it, just she wanted him out. She demanded the lift take her to Cmdr Bonner’s quarters. =/\=BUT MS TURNER THEY DO NOT WISH TO BE DISTURBED.=/\=
“TAKE ME ANYWAY!”
=/\=CMDR KANE. I INFORMED MS TURNER YOU DID NOT WANT TO BE DISTURBED, BUT SHE IS GETTING OFF THE LIFT ANYWAY.=/\=
The lift opened and Alisson pasted a pretty smile on her face and straightened herself some. This was officer country after all. Appearances were important. She tried to brush the flour and mess from her clothes and hair. It only made it worse. She stopped in front of the designated room and read the plate. Alexis’ quarters…of course she gave them to her father. She always did prefer him. She quietly jabbed the chime like she was squashing a bug. “Alexis dear, open the door, please.”
Alexis’s brows went into her hair line. She sounded so…normal and sweet. Like she was selling a birthday cake to a little kid at the bakery. Anthony went over to the door. He was not nearly as impressively built or nearly as fit as Kane, but he stood, feet spread, arms crossed over his chest and let the door open. Alisson could see into the room, but he wasn’t letting her in…yet.
Bonner
Kane moved to stand by Anthony and locked eyes with Allison. “I’m sorry, but this is a private meeting. I’m sure you understand.” He tapped Anthony’s shoulder and stepped into his place. “Oh! Allison! How nice of you to stop by! Oh my....” and he looked her in and down and made a tsk-tsk-tsk sound and then looked her in the eyes. “I hope everyone else made it out safely from whatever disaster you seem to be wearing was.”
Kane, Picker of Fights
Alisson glared at Anthony. She couldn’t make him leave, her stupid VPO hadn’t gone through yet. Oh but once it did he would have to alter his plans even if he didn’t want to. Then Kane was standing in front of her. Poor man. He’d been through so much and now saddled with her daughter. She tried to warn him, but he hadn’t listened. Now he would have to find out just as she did, how horrible that was. Her gaze followed his and she looked down at herself. Oh…she really did look a mess. She plastered a smile on her face. He would be her ally surely. She just had to hold onto her temper for a minute. “Nothing so dramatic. I was baking when I got your message. I know of course it came from you. Alexis and Anthony would never remember to tell me. That was so sweet of you, Solomon. I just had to come right over.” Alisson tried to gaze past him into the room, but he was much taller than she was. “Alexis? Why didn’t you tell me?” She glanced back at Kane, “I wouldn’t have missed it if someone had told me.”
Alexis glanced at her dad and rolled her eyes. Really? She didn’t get it. This wasn’t the behavior Alexis expected, but maybe it should have been. “I’m here now though. Alexis?” Her mother was a master of making things about her and being well liked. Alisson attempted to walk past Kane, even if she had to duck under him. “Alexis, answer me.” Her voice turned hard.
Alisson
Kane physically pushed her back with his hip and stared at her. If everything around him always felt just slightly ‘off’, he channeled that into his look. “You missed it because you weren’t invited. You weren’t invited because you weren’t wanted. You weren’t wanted because you have hurt both of these people deeply. For years. But also for the last time.” He stepped towards her and bodily forced her back into the passageway.
Alisson stared up at him as he forced her back out of the doorway. Her gaze flashed with anger, but if Kane hadn’t been watching her he wouldn’t have seen it. “Just because Alexis can’t figure it out doesn’t mean I wasn’t wanted. She is so oblivious and selfish. If she would just stop and consider other people she wouldn’t be that way, but she just isn’t capable.” She looked past him again. She could see Anthony sitting on the couch looking bored, but Alexis was effectively blocked from Alisson’s view. “Alexis, come here. I want to talk to you.” She tried to push past Kane again, this time with force, but he didn’t budge.
“No more, Allison. No more manipulation. No more passive aggressive threats. No more belittling. No more narcissistic twisting of reality to suit you. No more you.”
Alisson gasped loudly, enraged. How dare he talk to her like that. “Anthony! Anthony! I am your WIFE. Are you going to let him talk to me like that?” There was no answer. “Of course you will. You are a horrible husband! All the things I’ve put up with! I followed you, gave up everything so you could have your career! Left me to make do with nothing and no one while you gave your devotion to Star Fleet.” She sneered it, her contempt more than obvious to everyone in hearing distance. “You didn’t even have the decency to try and make captain. I begged you for more children, but now I’m glad we didn’t. It’s your bad blood that made Alexis so strange. I tried to fix her, but you made her think it was okay to be that way.” Her gaze turned dangerous as she saw Anthony move, putting his arm around Alexis. She would take his precious daughter away from him. “Alexis I’m your mother! I’m the only one who really cares about you. You were just some experiment, some trophy for your father to show off to his students. They and their accomplishments were more important to him.”
He stepped back into the doorway and filled it with his presence. “You want to say anything to them, you say it to me. You want to try and get to them? Your going to have to go through me. You want to try a f-<k over Anthony and ruin him? Good luck, because to do that you have to go through me. And Allison? You don’t fool me. And you can’t manipulate me. And you can’t bend me to believing you are a sweet little baker. Oh, you can do that to most people, sure. Most people actually want to be liked by others. But even you know by now… I’m not most people. And even more importantly… I don’t like you. And I don’t care if you like me. In fact, I’d prefer you don’t.”
Kane
The smile she turned on Kane was sickly. “I know you feel you have to say that, that you have to protect them because they’ve twisted and turned your opinion of me. I don’t blame you. And when you realize what a pitiful choice you made with Alexis, I will forgive you. I don’t blame you. You are good man and feel you need to protect them. You’ve had no parental figures to emulate. Anthony really isn’t the one you should look at.”
It was sheer force of strength that allowed Anthony to keep Alexis on the couch.
Alisson
Kane stared at her for a long moment… and then he busted out laughing. It was loud. Boisterous. And completely genuine. “Paternal?!?!?” he guffawed. “PATERNAL?!?!?!” and the laughter was cut by a tone that held more edge to it than a monomolecular scalpel. “You f@<king sad sack of self-rightouss hot air. Lady, I had better mothers than you in sewer rats than you are. I had better mother mothers sell me on auction blocks than you are. The mother that dumped me on the doorstep of a rundown dilapidated orphanage in a slum was a better mother than you. And Anthony is a better man than anyone like you deserves. They are a better family than you deserve. Hell, the fact they allowed you evenexist in their orbit for so long is a testament to their character, not anything to do with you. So sputter and spew whatever you want to. We are done. You can’t bake your way outta this, Turner. Shit… the only reason you can bake at all anyway is because Alexis showed you how.”
Kane
Alisson’s eyes narrowed. Kane had hit her right where it mattered. Her fists balled up and she seriously considered hitting him. “Alexis can’t bake. She’s not capable of the creativity and inspiration required to really bake. All she knows is facts and figures and statistics. One day you’ll learn, she can’t love you like you want.” Her expression turned nasty and mean, “Even your previous father knows it. Tell her Anthony! That’s why you sent her away when she was 17. You couldn’t stand it anymore, a daughter who was more like a machine than a person.”
Anthony hugged Alexis tightly and kissed her forehead. He shook his head. That wasn’t true at all and Alexis knew it. He wanted to walk over to the door and tell Alisson what he thought of her, but Kane wanted to be between them. Kane wanted Alisson to have to go through him to get to Alexis or himself and he agreed. Alisson was trying to provoke him and he wouldn’t fall for it.
Frigga came trotting down the corridor following GALEN’s whistles. The smell of the tension sent a shiver from the top of her head to the tip of her tail. She growled softly, a signal that something was wrong. Her dark eyes darted from Kane to Anthony to the woman who smelled mean. She sat down next to Kane and looked up at him, wagging her tail slowly.
Anthony’s voice came quietly from the room. “Ah our last guest is here. Now it’s a party, Nugget.” Alexis laughed softly. Anthony’s comment was meant to make Alexis feel better and had nothing to do with Alisson.
It was the last straw for Alisson. “Oh yes the dog. That stupid piece of feces. The dog she was ‘ordered’ to get so it could teach her to be compassionate and how to connect with people. A dog she still has because she still hasn’t learned. What does that tell you about your new wife, Cmdr Kane? That she invites a dog to her wedding but not her mother!” Alisson lashed out with her foot and caught Frigga square in the chest, knocking the dog over with a loud thud and then kicked her again for good measure with a subtle crack. Alexis screamed - pure outrage as she tried to push past Solomon.
Alisson
Kane’s response swift, efficient, and final. A sweep of his leg hit Allison directly in the back of her knee as his two curled fists hit her squarely in both shoulders sending her backwards and to the deck. Kane was on her in an instant and his fist drew back and shot forward… hitting the deck less than a centimeter from Allison’s face with acrack much louder than the kick to Frigga. Kane’s knees came up and landed heavily on Allison’s shoulders, pinning her to the deck. His head whipped back and his eyes… his eyes seemed to shine with barely contained rage. When he spoke, it was as if another voice was coming from him, a voice of reason and calm that was at complete odds with the face of fury on his visage. “Lex, see to Frigga. Anthony, call security and the XO. Tell security we have a civilian in custody who assaulted a crew member and tell the XO we need him to determine if I am to be charged as well.”
Alexis was frozen in place until she heard the crack as Solomin’s fist hit the deck plating. He didn’t hit Alisson. Not that Alexis would have cared if he did, but there would be reprocussions if he did. Alexis needed him here with her, not in the brig.
=/\=Security to Deck 3 starboard section gamma. We have a civilian who assaulted acrew member. We need the XO down here as well at Cmdr Kane’s request.=/\=
=/\=Aknowledged. Team is enroute.=/\=
Alexis dropped to her knees beside Grigga. The dog was whining and trying to get up. Alexis set a hand on her head and her back hip. “Hush Frigga. Down. Stay.” Alexis quickly unbuckled the harness, moving the straps out of the way. She probed along Frigga’s side and chest. The dog yippee and whined, panting laboriously.
He turned his face back to Allison and he leaned in close; so close that as he whispered- through teeth clenched so hard his gums bled- spittle and blood flecks landed on her face. “The only reason you still draw breath is because you gave birth to my wife. I swear to you… my highest priority in life is making sure Lex is happy. My second highest is making every day of the rest of your life a living nightmare. From this moment on, you will never know peace. Never know happiness. Never know what is about to happen next. You. Are. Mine. Till the day you drop dead, everyday you will think of me and you will in fear of what I have planned for you next.”
Kane
Alisson’s eyes had squeezed tightly shut when he bunched the floor and know they snapped open wide. She had claimed the need for a VPO but now…oh now she was really afraid. She flinched as the spittle hit her. Fear kept her mouth shut.
Alexis was muttering as she examined Frigga. “Two broken ribs, possible bruised diaphram, hairline fractures in the sternum.” Frigga’s breathung was labored but she couldn’ttell if it was from pain or something else. “Dad I need my kit, the veterinarian one. It’s on the shelf behind the work station. It has Frigga’s name on it. GALEN let Cmdr Bonner into Cmdr Kane’s quarters.” Anthony tore his gaze off Kane and took off at a jog down the corridor.
Alexis’ gaze fell on her mother. There was strain and pain in her voice. “I know you hate me. That I have always been a disappointment to you. But Frigga…” Frigga whinned at the sound of her name and Alexis turned back, bending low over her, petting her head and ear, talking quietly to her.
Alexis
A few of the crew had stopped in the passageway on either side of the prone woman and the tattooed former CSO. Whispers and looks from the onlookers were interrupted bythe arrival of a team of three security officers. The Lieutenant in charge looked at the situation and said “Commander! Release her this instance!” and one of the onlookers said “L-T! That crazy woman kicked Frigga! Commander Bonner just said she broke her ribs!” The Security team leader looked confusedly at the scene again and Kane slowly stood up, his eyes locked on Allison. “Lieutenant, the woman assaulted Frigga, a designated member of this ship’s therapy and medical section, there fore a member of the crew. She did so with no physical provocation after trying to force her way into Lieutenant Commander Bonner’s quarters., which I prevented. When she attacked Frigga, I knocked her down and restrained her and had Lieutenant Commander Bonner call for you and the XO while Lieutenant Commander Bonner, our ACMO, attended to the dog.”
Kane
A voice with a tone that brought everyone back to their days as a Cadet rumbled down the corridor. “Move,” was all it said, and people made way as Cmdr Bonner as his hurries stride brought him back to the doorway. Alexis snatched the case from him, “I need a sheet.” Anthony nodded and moved into the room.
People were upset, scared, worried. Frigga whined. Especially her mom and the steak keeper. Frigga needed to help them. Alexis shushed her again, “Stay down Frigga.” Alexis took a tricorder out of the kit and began to run it over her. Anthony returned, spreading the sheet out on the floor. Alexis handed him a pair of sheers. “Right here on her neck, shave the fur off.”
The thud of heavy footsteps sounded in the corridor and an unfamiliar voice said “Make a hole.” in a heavy Scottish accent. The truy imposing figure of the new Executive Officer, Commander Royal Sinclair, appeared and his hands went to his hips as he looked at the clearly terrified woman on the ground and what could only be the new R&D lead standing over her. And then there was the dog, and Royal’s jaw clenched. “A’aight then.” He looked at the Security Lieutenant and said “First off, clear the passage. Then we’ll sort this.” The Security team began shooing people away and posted up some distance down the passage to prevent anyone from coming towards the scene. Sinclair looked down at the woman and then at Kane. “Step away and let her up.” He looked down and said “Ma’am, can you stand up, please.” His voice was calm, professional, and held no judgemnt… and also no room for debate.
Sinclair, XO
Alisson looked up at the XO. Oh now wasn’t he a specimen. Big enough to take care of anything. Yes this would do nicely. She smirked at Kane where she thought the new arrival couldn’t see. She looked back at the XO, “Oh yes, of course. She pushed herself to sitting. “Anthony?” She waited. Anthony ignored her. It made her so mad that Alisson practically jumped up, forgetting she was “hurt.”
Sinclair looked at the woman, and things began to click into place without him even being told. He took a breath and exhaled slowly.
Anthony was trying to keep Frigga calm, but it wasn’t working to well. The dog was agitated and in pain. Alexis set the tricorder down and took the sheers. “Kane,” she only called him that at work. A clear indication she was trying to focus rather than feel. “I need help holding her still until the medication kicks in.” She ran a hand over Frigga’s neck and ear. Then she tried shaving her again. Frigga raised her head trying to see.
Kane moved to Frigga and set his hand on her eyes. “Easy, girl. We got you. Shhhh…” he said quietly.
Alisson made a face and rolled her eyes. “It’s a dog.” She muttered under her breath.
Alisson
Kane
Frigga laid her head down but continued to pant and whine. Anthony looked over at Alisson but said nothing. There was definantly an animal here, but it wasn’t Frigga. Alexis reached into the kit and took out an empty hypospray and inserted a vial of Rimadyl and dialed it to 1ml for the pain. There was a quiet pop-hiss and then she rubbed the spot to dispurse the medicine faster.
Royal said =/\= GALEN, identify canine subject present. =/\= The computer responded immediately. =/\= Canine therapy and service animal slated to primarily assist Lieutemant Commander Alexis Bonner. Assigned as therapy service animal to Psycholgy Department and Medical Section. =/\= Sinclair grunted. He turned and looked at Allison and said “Ma’am, I’m sorry. Could ya please tell me what happened to the animal?” Kane turned to look up at Sinclair and the XO gd up a finger without looking away from Allison. “She explains. You deal with that first, Commander. Thank you. You will have a chance to speak, but right now the animal’s well-being is your priority.”
Alexis was shaving the fur from her chest and her side. It was uncomfortable for Frigga but painful when the shears moved over the broken bones.
Kane shot him a look and was about to speak when Frigga whined and he gritted his teeth and turned back to help Alexis
Alexis had cleared the fur and was taking scans with a handheld microtime. She grabbed the PaDD in the kit and transferred the images. She scanned them and then took pictures of Frigga’sside and chest where the pattern of Alisson’s shoe was already showing in the bruising. “Dad replace the vial in the hypo with the Ketamine/Diazepan mixture and dial it to 1.1 ml.” Alexis set the PaDD beside herself with the images. “The force of the impact tore the parietal pleura when it broke her sternum. Her diaphram is torn and bruised and broken ribs have knicked the artery.” She looked at Solomon, “We need to move her out of the door way and onto the sheet.” She took the hypo from Anthony and pressed it to Frigga’s neck. She ran a hand over the dogs neck and shoulder. “Go to sleep Frigga.”
Kane said “We need to get her to sickbay. Now.“
The XO gave Allison an easy snile. “Now madame… as ya were sayin’.”
Sinclair. XO
Kane
Alisson smiled at the man, endearing and tentative and completely calculated. “Well I was trying to go inside, there,” she made a soft wave of her hand toward Anthony’s quarters. “But Cmdr Kane wouldn’t let me.” Yes it was all that man’s fault. “I must have stepped on the poor thing’s foot or something as I tried to get past. She was standing right in the way. Animals are always where they shouldn’t be. Well the thing growled at me. I must have just reacted to protect myself.”
Alexis was upset but the curses and insults that came out of her mouth were in flawless Mandarin.
Alexis
Kane nodded in agreement, but tapped his commbadge. =/\= Kane to transporter room. Emergency transport of myself, ACMO, and canine subject at my location to emergency triage. Engage when ready. =/\= His head whipped to Allison and he said “This isn’t over, you c-” and his words were cut off as he, Alexis, and Frigga disappeared in swirling motes of light.
