Anthony keyed the panel to his, well Alexis’, quarters. He entered and walked over to the desk picking up a PaDD, signed it, and handed it to Alexis. “We know that Allison is going to lose it when she finds out. She’s going to go after everything. She’ll try to get more out of me and she might even go after Alexis. Here’s the thing though, other than demanding my shares in the divorce, she NOR her lawyers have done anything to pause our assets. So, before you go poking the beast, let’s take care of the bakery. Alexis, I’ve signed all my shares over to you. If you don’t want them, but don’t want to wait for your mother’s approval, you can sign your half of the bakery to Kane. Then he will own 3/4th of it. And since I am gifting them to you, Allison can’t demand any percentage of my profits. I didn’t make any.” While he talked he walked over to the replicator and after a swirl of lights he turned and set a bowl on the floor for Frigga.

“My lawyer is waiting for the paperwork. He’ll file it immediately. Then send her the files and we’ll watch the fireworks.”

Anthony

Kane thought for a moment and then looked at Alexis. “Hey… I know shit like this makes you feel all kinds of gross. But this is a good call. It gets your mom away from your dad, protects him, and insulates you. Because to get to you, she’ll have to go through me. So will her lawyers. You won’t have to deal with it. And I actually want to. But… it’s your call. And I will back you no matter what you decide.”

Kane

Alexis had already signed acceptance of Anthony’s shares. She was reading over the papers while her dad and Solomon talked. “Hmmm except I know you don’t want to run a business. You want to handle this the way you wanted to handle Soulis.” There was a very matter of fact tone to her voice and quirk to her lips that showed she may not like it, but found it more than acceptable. “This protects him financially and his retirement. Even at a 1/4th ownership of the bakery, Mom still makes more than he does. Even more now that he has no income from his shares of the bakery. See mom gets money from the shares but she is also paid a salary just like she pays her employees. The courts won’t grant her alimony and her lawyers won’t be getting their fee from the settlement. Mom will have to pay out of her own finances.” Alexis hadn’t signed hers over to Solomon, yet. She wanted clear time stamps on each document, showing the progression of the paperwork. She continued to read and then looked up at Anthony. “Daddy.”

Anthony shrugged, “You said you didn’t want to take them away from her. So, you give the patents of your recipes to Kane. Your mom can continue to use them, but if she missteps, it’s another tool, Kane can use. And of course if you are ever completely done with it you can always sell those patents and recipes to Allison for a hefty sum.”

Alexis nodded and signed her shares and control of the patents over to Solomon and then handed him the PaDD. It required three signatures: acceptance of his initial 25% shares, then acknowledgement that Anthony gave his to Alexis, and finally acceptance of all of Alexis shares. “We’ll have to send a record of the marriage certificate as well.”
