“Maybe we should capture some of, dispense it like caffeine,” Dira said, a wicked smile slipping on to her face.
Willow chuckled.
She sipped on her tea, relaxing just a little bit more. “Can I ask you something, on a personal but also still professional matter?”
Commander Myqian, XO
“Sure, but if it’s about that plant in the arboretum I already met with it and told it to stop eating peoples shoes.”
She waited for Myqian to go on.

CODira that comment roll over the conversation and took a breath to gather her thoughts. “Did I make the right choice? Pulling myself from duty? Taking myself out of the decision process. It’s easier in a physical or mental heath situation. If there is a conflict of interest, the rules are quite clear. But with Command? Less clear. We don’t have the luxury of bowing out and hiding away when things get tough. Not only are we charged with the lives of this crew, we have a duty beyond the hull of ship. So I don’t know what the line is here. It felt like the right one in that moment, but I’m second-guessing myself Willow, and I don’t like that feeling. It’s been a long time since I’ve done that.” Earlier in her career had been a messy time and that made for a messy residency and early career. This wasn’t like back then, she hadn’t lost anyone she had been working with. But they could have. And that weighed on her.

Willow gave a small sigh as if she understood this very question only too well. “This wasn’t…a common place situation. You remember command training. They throw some horrible situations at us and we think that prepares us for what we are about to do. It’s bollocks…it doesn’t prepare you completely. You went with your instincts which is the best way to be in my experience.” She paused and gave what could only be seen as a mildly helpless shrug.
“I know so many of us go into command with the names of those who came before us ringing in our ears, but the reality is we can only do what we can. That’s why we are a command team, so How about, you can second guess for me and I’ll second guess for you.” She smiled

CO“Be a reality check for each other,” Dira said with a nod. “Works for me.”
She paused long enough to gather her thoughts. “As I understand it, the situation is sorted? No longer a problem? Or should we be on the lookout for more interference from… other groups?”
Commander Myqian, XO
Willows expression darkened for a moment and she nodded. “As far as I am ware, yes. It is. However I am going to be on a lookout for future situations regardless. I’ll make sure to keep you updated but I don’t foresee something as…immediate a need in future.” She shook her head.

COMyqian blew out a breath and nodded. “How much do you know about how my… fiancee died?” Such a simple question, but one that was harder to answer because so much of it was classified. You would only know of its classified state if you went looking. No one had any reason to. It had been a long time ago now. Over ten years. A decade. A lifetime ago it seemed.
Commander Myqian, XO
Carefully Willow considered the woman before her, she took her cup and turned it in her hand. “I am aware of your loss, and that the files surrounding it are classified, that’s all. It wasn’t my place to delve into classified files when you came on board and as we worked together and I got to know you i knew it wasn’t something I wanted to know unless it was something you wanted to tell me yourself.”
