USS Ogawa
Where is the Answer
She couldn’t go back to the lab, she couldn’t go to her quarters (she just couldn’t, the idea made her sick), the lounge, the mess, the arboretum: she couldn’t work there.
There was unused space on deck 15, where the medical module was stored. Alexis was acutely familiar with this deck. It had been part of her reponsibilities previously. The was a small unused office space, empty, no furniture, just empty, waiting. It wasn’t restricted space so it was there that she found herself in the small interior space, sitting on the floor, padds spread out around her in a wide arc, the lights set to a brighter illumination than was necessary. Frigga draped across her lap, refusing to move, Alexis stared at the data on the PaDDs, the information, diagrams, numbers all seemed to float in the air around her and swirl, merge, contort, separate until she could actually see the connections forming.
She let her mind go, let it do the work, but her mind wouldn’t do the work, not totally, not all encompassing. Let Myqian tell the cpt and the security chief. What did she care? Let them feel pity for her. They couldn’t stop it, h#*@ he was Intel and Intel couldn’t stop him. Let them talk about her behind her back. She scanned the padds again and again, nothing connecting like it had earlier when she’d first started that morning. She would figure it out, what it was he was after and then she’d destroy it. She’d destroy the work. Her mind jumped and spiraled and circled back finding no answer. She was moving information from one location to the next in a manic fashion.
Frigga whined repeatedly.
