It had been a hectic few days since Captain Shock was suddenly called away. The sudden loss of Shock and Myles replacing him made for an interesting experience. Adam of course, took it in stride. After five years on the Leviathan, he was more than used to things going, if not wrong, then at least oddly. He was mildly curious as to why Captain Myles had called for him.He checked the PaDD he always carried, the one with the access to the ship’s internal systems, the one he used to adjust the lights so he could hide in corners and appear from seemingly thin air. People always took his stoic wooden expression as him being a cold man, but sneaking around in shadows, hidden behind forcefields was something he only did out of enjoyment; it served no practical purpose beyond maybe unnerving people. The Padd showed that there were only a handful of people ahead, so he made the lights flicker to get their attention, then created a forcefield bubble around him, improvised invisibility that only worked in the dark and walked past confused crewmen unseen. He repeated this a few times. He got inside the turbolift and requested the CIC.
Before the lift opened again, he pocketed the PaDD and smoothed his hair. When it opened, his hands were clasped behind his back, and he walked forward, his face a wooden mask that showed no particular expression. He walked through, head moving slightly as he took in and registered the on-duty staff. He stopped in front of the ready room and pressed the chime.

Miles smiled and stood, Starfleet had yanked her captain out from underneath her and then mentioned that the soonest and XO would be available would be four months. This ship could not wait three days let alone three months. “Come” she said giving her black uniform a sharp tug down. Sometimes she wished she could wear a skirt, the stupid pants were always where they should not be.

“Please come in, have a seat.” she said with a smile. “Can I get you something?” she asked her hand motioning to the replicator.

Commanding Officer U.S.S LeviathanAdam quirked an eyebrow but took a seat “No, ma’am, thank you” He crossed his legs and interlaced his fingers, resting his hands on his lap. Showing comfort during any situation was a quintessential skill for his line of work, especially when dealing with senior officers when he was unsure or out of the know.

“Well then, I’ll get to the point” she said, “Command has yanked Captain Shock to some special assignment, given me command of the ships a day after I stepped on as XO leaving me to put the pieces back together” she noted taking a sip from her coffee, which smelled fresh.
“I need an XO, your record suggests you are qualified,” she noted, “Are you?”
Captain Elora Myles
Commanding Officer U.S.S LeviathanAdam blinked in surprise, both at the bluntness of the Captain and at the question itself, but he recovered quickly “Yes I am” He said simply because it was the truth “I have thirty years of experience, most of that in a leadership role. I’ve passed the B.O.T and have the requisite years in rank. I have the highest non command ARU security clearance so transfering to a Command role should not take much time in that regard” He was already making plans in case this went through.

She raised her hand. “I know your qualifications, Lieutenant Commander, what I’m asking is” she said sliding him a cup of coffee. “Are you ready for it?” she said. “It’s a lot of responsibility, I need to know the pulse of the crew, and this crew especially, can you keep on them, get to know them and still send them into danger without hesitation?” she said her eyes meeting his as she pressed out a coffee of her own. “I don’t share my special blend offten,” she noted looking at the cup.

Commanding Officer U.S.S LeviathanAdam accepted the cup, he wasn’t generally fond of coffee, but he occasionally indulged. He took a sip, gave the appropriate approving noises and nodded. “I am ready. I haven’t actively pursued a Command position because of familial obligations.” He doesn’t elaborate on that point. “Getting familiar with people and learning the, as you say, pulse of a place is a part of my skillset.” He hides a hesitation by taking another sip “I have sent people into certain danger before; it is not an act I enjoy, but at times it is necessary. It is never the first option, but if it is called for I do not hesitate.”
CIO
She smiled, “Good” she said her eyes flashing to the cup. “no?” she asked as she wrote a few notes on the Padd she was using. She as issuing the paperwork for his XO and his field commission to Commander , it would be approved of that she had no doubt.
Captain Elora Myles
Commanding Officer U.S.S LeviathanAdam looked at the cup for a moment, considering his reply. He’d lied to superior officers before about enjoying their beverages of choice, but never if he had to form a regular working relationship. “Coffee is coffee to me.” He said, honestly looking back up at the Captain, his expression hadn’t changed much, but it rarely did when he was on duty. “I don’t mind it, but I don’t have the palate to enjoy the differences in coffee. I am not particularly fond of stimulants unless necessary.”

She smiled at him, “Well, I guess each to their own” she said with a smirk. “More for me” she laughed, “Well I have put it for your transfer and requested a promotion to Commander, from what I have seen there is no reason you should not hold that Rank, I’ll make it official once the ink dries” she said standing, “Unless there is anything you need from me, I suggest you get to work ” she said extending her hand.
