Shortly after Hall got off of shift for a little for a little break he decided to head to the mess hall. The mess hall is where everyone else hangs out and eats and drinks. So Hall had decided to head there. He went to the turbolift “Mess Hall”. He said to the computer to give it a command. Once the command was given the turbolift doors had then slid shut. He had finally felt happy with his new career path. By the time the turbolift stopped. He was already on the mess hall deck. The doors slid open presenting him a way out. Lucas had then stepped out and headed towards the mess hall to get some chow. He then stepped into the mess hall he looked around for a moment. He went to the replicator and ordered cheesecake and a bowl of blueberries and raspberries. The replicator had then synthesized them all for him and he grabbed them. Found a spot to sit at looking out towards the stars outside this very nice vessel of his that he is stationed on and started eating.

Mac walked into the mess hall and put an order in the replicator for a spicy tuna salad sandwich, peppermint cheesecake slice and a large cup of peppermint hot chocolate. She glanced around and then headed for the table that the Chief of Operations was sitting at. “Would you mind if I join you?” She asked lightly while looking up at him with a smile that showed off her dimples.

Mac smiled as she sat down and looked up at him, “Should I just call you Lieutenant Commander, or do I have your permission to be at ease?” She said lightly as she regarded him.

He smiled back as she sat down. “Don’t worry I’m not on duty till tomorrow anyways. So you are at ease. Don’t worry.” He said to her.

“In that case feel free to call me Mac if you wish.” She replies with a slightly cheeky grin that shows off her dimples. She takes a dainty bite of her spicy tuna salad sandwich and after she finishes chewing takes a small sip from her peppermint hot chocolate. “How’s OPS treating you?”

He sat there pondering on it for a little. “It’s been teasing me well. I help engineer out where ever and whenever they need me to.” He replied. “So it’s been nice. Quiet and slow but you know how that is.” He added

PS No one knows her or that she’s the new Chief Engineer … she did hear Angel saying about ‘Engineer’ … so she may think he’s the Chief Engineer, and she’s just here as some kind of specialist.

IC: Katie had arrived, and was given some time off, but her two escorts were standing by the door out of the mess hall, trying hard to just blend in. Katie thought they stood out like a pair of Ferengi at a volunteers convention. She orderered a Canadian Club, without the alcohol, but with lemon.

She looked around and saw them at a table, a Lt Commander and a Lt. She’d been told to keep quiet about why she was here … beyond the fact that she was an engineer and she seemed to have to develop containment devices, she had no real idea why she was here.

“Lt Commander, Lt,” she said, looking up at them, well … up at Mac because she was sitting, up at Angel because of his height, “do you mind if I join you? I’m Katie Hawkins, new in these parts, originally from Earth, most recently from an outpost.” She motioned to the two tall individuals by the door, “they are my escort. They don’t talk much, so I call them Joe and Moe … I’m sure they wished I didn’t talk much either.” She paused and grimaced, “yeah, I talk a lot, mostly from nerves at first, then because I make up for my lack of height with a lot of words.”

He looked at Katie. “Of course have a seat. I am Lieutenant Commander Lucas “Markiplier” Hall Angel. But you can call me Lucas or Markiplier. Now don’t ask about the nickname of Markiplier please. I’ve explained it far to many times.” He said as he stood up and pulled a chair out for the young lady.

“Oh, thank you, Lucas,” she said, looking up at him in his uniform, and noting the mustard yellow said, “so, are you a brainiac in that uniform, or a hot shot?” She then explained, “we called engineers and ops personnel brainiacs and tactical, security and the like hot shots, the outpost had civilian and Starfleet personnel working together and preferred those titles to include everyone. Pity about the uniforms though.”

“Well,” he started. “I’m the Chief of Operations Officer. I do help out with Engineering stuff as well. However, I mainly help out with engineering a lot if needed.” He added.

She nodded, “and what are your views in the use of cross species engineering techniques, materials and tools to improve the efficiency of ship systems? I oversaw the development of a better communications system previously by using a Ferengi bypass linked to a Bajoran relay by way of Cardassian e-wiring. It resulted in a 1.47% improvement in efficiency and the e-wiring managed to ensure the bypass wasn’t blown when the communication system was commenced and the bypass meanwhile allowed the Bajoran and Cardassian parts to work. That resulted in enough of a signal boost that we were able to clearup the message being sent by the Dorga so that war was avoided and the loss of innocent lives was missed.”
