Normally when new personnel arrive on a ship, some preliminary work had been done. Personnel records sent to Security, medical files transmitted, room assignments made… the standard. What wasn’t standard was the CO and Security Chief receiving a call from Star Fleet Personnel Command informing them that the new CSO had been placed in a shuttle and would be arriving in the next three hours. And he would be carrying all of his files himself. And he was to report immediately to the Commanding Officer with no interaction with anyone else. And he would be escorted to the CO by ship’s security until such time as the Commanding Officer deemed it otherwise. Even more ‘not standard’ was that the only person given his name was the CO… along with a very interesting message from an Admiral Harkness (that no one seemed to know) telling her that her new CSO was one of the best in the fleet… if she could just look past the whole ‘acquitted murderer’ thing; along with a detailed record of his problematic history in Star Fleet. And so it was that two hours and twenty-three minutes after being notified, a shuttle appeared on the Leviathan’s sensors. Oddly, it wasn’t a runabout or passenger shuttle. It was a high security transport. After being cleared to land in the shuttle bay, the craft settled to the deck and the engines whined down to idle. The rear hatch lowered and down the ramp walked two Fleet Marines on either side of an Orion male wearing the blue uniform of the Star Fleet Science Division. As they stepped onto the deck of the Leviathan, one of the Marines looked at the Orion and said “Remember what the Admiral said. Not a word until you meet the Skipper.” The Orion looked at the speaker and simply glared… but remained silent.
Ahearn, Chief Science Officer
Standing outside the shuttle, looking suspicious and annoyed, was the Leviathan’s Chief of security. She was significantly smaller than the science officer, with solid black eyes and bright red hair. Two officers in tactical uniforms stood by the door, weapons held ready. The woman met his gaze. “Follow me.” She turned, not waiting to see if he said anything, simply expecting him to follow.
The Science Lieutenant stepped from between the Marines and started following the Security Chief. As they moved away, he turned and looked back at the Marines. He grinned and gave them a single-finger salute before turning back and walking with his new ‘friends’.
There was no sound, but an amused grin tugged at the COS’s lips. She would not laugh and she would not actually smile. But whoever this was, she liked him already.
The two officers fell into step behind them as they left the shuttle bay and made their way toward the secure turbolift and to the CIC. They followed a corridor outside actual bridge and she stopped at a door and pressed the chime.
Lt. Gadi, CTO/RTF
The CSO had remained silent through the walk. But after the chime sounded, he looked at the Security Chief and said “You look as annoyed as I am.” His voice was deep but had a wholly unexpected accent for an Orion… it was Irish. “Good. At least one person has some fu<%ing common sense on this ship.”
Ahearn, Chief Science Officer
A brow raised, “Can’t follow orders?” A truly amused smile flashed in her eyes before dimming behind whatever was annoying her. “Anyone who serves Star Fleet and isn’a annoyed doesn’a have their cornbread done in the middle,” her voice was a interesting mix of Scottish lilt and southern drawl. More specifically - Appalachian.
Lt. Gadi, COS/RTF
The Orion’s scowl seemed to lessen slightly and he nodded. “True… true.” he said. He looked at the door and clasped his hands behind his back. Without looking at her, he said “And I do follow orders, by the way. I just have an issue taking them from idiots.” He looked back at the two security escorts. “And the person that mandated this little exercise is indeed one of that demographic.”
Ahearn, Chief Science Officer
She almost laughed, “Tell me you’re incompetent without telling me your incompetent. I have the orders from said person as example.”
Lt. Gadi, CTO/RTF
Elora looked at the last minute orders and almost chucked them across the room, what was intel up too, they were making moves, it was clear, but what they were she had no clue the details on the transfer were so vague that she had almost contacted the admiral to tell him to go stuff himself. She contact Admiral Halsey briefly.
Sir, regarding current XO transfer, id important parts
She heard conversation outside her door, it was time to put on her Captains face, the orders said he was not supposed to talk to anyone before he got to her. “Come” it came out more angry than she had intended. She did not look up from her work as she drank a cup of coffee.
OOC: Is he restrained? or just under escort.
Captain Elora Myles
Commanding Officer U.S.S LeviathanOOC: Just escorted.
IC: The door slid open and in stepped an Orion male in a blue Science uniform. He had lieutenant pips on his collar and he carried himself with an air of irritation. He looked at Gadi and nodded once, then stepped up to the desk. He pulled an isolinear data chip from his pocket and dropped it on the desk. “Lieutenant Ahearn, your new Chief Scientist… apparently. My orders and files are there, Captain.” He didn’t stand at attention or give any kind of formal greeting. He just stood… and waited.
Ahearn, Chief Science Officer
Gadi stepped right inside the door, the escort staying outside. She stood quietly waiting for the captain to either give sign for her to stay or dismiss her.
Lt. Gadi, CTO/RTF
She looked over the Orion a moment then down at the orders, dismissing them for the moment. “Lieutenant Gadi, your dismissed, please get me those S O P changes I requested at lunch.” She stood up, taking her coffee in both hands. She was tall for a human female, taller than average anyway at nearly six feet tall. She was strong, nowhere near as strong as an Orion, but she was packed with dense strong muscle from her religious physical training. Her time as a pro athlete had forced disciplines, the being on tactical, covert teams only amplified. She sat down on the edge of her desk mere inches from the large man, pondering at, and looking rather unimpressed by his attitude.
“Aye, Captain.” Gadi turned and stepped out the door. As it closed she dismissed the two officers that had come with her. Then she stepped into the CIC to make sure the transport shuttle got underway.
Lt. Gadi, COS/RTF
“What the hell am I supposed to do with you!” she stated looking at the man, genuinely not sure what to make of intel’s little push into her new command, could he be trusted? Or like her had he been sent to subvert the ships effort by no doubt section 31 to gain control of the ship. She was on the fence.
Captain Elora Myles
Commanding Officer U.S.S LeviathanAhearn didn’t move away, standing his ground and looking the woman in the eyes. “Hell if I know. I just got here meself.” the scientist answered, the Irish accent making itself more known. “And aside from ‘investigatin’ an categorizin’ anomolies’… I haven’t da faintest idea what this ship even is other than yet another giant example of Star Fleet over-engineering.” He crossed his arms on his chest and said “So I take it ya didn’t exactly ask for my services, den? Figures. Harkness does so like his dramatic entrances… even t’isn’t him personally.” and he shook his head slightly.
Ahearn, Chief Science Officer
She looked at him a long moment, trying to decide if he was just a pawn or if he knew what the admirals games was. “Tell me then, ” she said. “You were Aquited of the charges brought against you, so why the escort?” she asked.
