The Catian CTO, Mown Gworl, crept closer to Sickbay with his ears lowered and eyes inscrutable. While Mown didn’t hate going to the doctor, check-ups were never high up on his list of favorite things to do. He knew it probably had something to do with his childhood, but didn’t dwell on it.
At first, he paused at the door. He did look forward to speaking with the CMO and getting cleared for duty. That had never really been a problem.
An NE rushed past him and checked him on the shoulder.
“Right here, Ensign,” Mown said sternly.
Then he passed through, ears twitching, into the Sickbay, looking for where he should go to find the doctor.

“Keep track of your headaches,” a curly-haired physician wagged a PaDD at a young crewman, “and I don’t want any excuses, understood? If you notice pain, disorientation or anything weird – come back.”
“You’re the doc,” he acquiesced with a playful roll of his eyes, then took the medicine handed to him in what appeared to be a metal bottle. “So, just take one of these as needed then come back next week?”
“It’s a general analgesic with an anti-inflammatory. You can take up to three at a time,” they quirked an eyebrow in an almost accusing fashion, “but needing to take that many should tell you something.”
“Got it,” he smile and shook the bottle. “I’ll see you next week.”
“No sooner, I hope…” they waved him off with a friendly grin and watched as he bade farewell, soon disappearing behind the Sickbay doors. His departure revealed the presence of another.
“Hello,” they approached the Lieutenant and glanced over him for signs of injury, “I’m Dr Álvaro-Byrd. What can I do for you, Lieutenant?”
— Amparo Álvaro-Byrd
Mown let the crewman pass by, then approached the doctor, whom he recognized from checking the ship’s roster upon his initial posting to the Levi
“Excuse me, Doctor,” Mown said, flashing his pointed teeth. “I’m the new CTO, Mown Gworl. Its nice to meet you.”
He extended a paw for a shake.
“Welcome aboard, Lieutenant Gowl.” Amparo grasped his paw in a firm, hearty shake and indicated his mohawk with an impressed jab of their chin. “Love the ‘do!”
“I was wondering if you had time to do my intake appointment?” Mown said. “I’m practically fresh off the shuttlecraft.”

“Why not?” They smiled and flicked their wrist in an invitation for Mown to follow them. “I trust your journey was uneventful? You didn’t pick up any nifty little microbes on your way, right?”
Amparo retrieved a tricorder on their way to an empty biobed, then tapped the bed for him to take a seat while they calibrated the tiny machine to his physiology.
“I haven’t had the opportunity to read your medical history,” they admitted, “so let’s start there. What do you feel is important for my team to know when treating you?”
