Luna walked down the hallway little Serenity’s handheld in hers. The needed to meet the new capten. Well yes luna topicly left Serenity behind for such meetings she felt it impotent for Serenity to meet the new capten.

” Mommy where is mr. Cobb.” Serenity asked. The child had been asking for him for several days. ” Mommy he left his fish who will take care of them. ” She said even more activated.

“I don’t know” luna said as she rang the chime to the captions ready room.
Ensign Luna

“Come,” a voice said through the door panel. The doors opened to the office, but the desk was currently unoccupied. Instead, a lanky Barzan was rising from the sofa on one side of the room, a PADD in hand.

As luna and serenity stepped into the office she spotted the stranger. She had been expecting the capten. Without thought she put cereniry behind her a shifted to a more combative stanve. Her white and black spotted wings opening some. “Who are you” she said.

“Ah, you are Ensign Luna, correct?” he asked her as he approached. He stood only a few inches taller than her, so he did not feel he would initimdate her by being too close, but kept a respectable distance between them. “I am Commander Rhansi, the first officer. I am sorry we have not been able to meet yet.” He gestured toward the captain’s desk. “Captain Mackenzie is out at the moment and I-” he raised the PADD, “- am taking care of some administrative tasks.”

” I was unaware we had a new XO. Though I may have missed or simply forgot the information” Luna said relaxing Cerenity came out from behind her to look at the stranger.

He glanced down at the little girl beside her and cocked his head. “You must be… Cerenity,” he said, running through the officer’s biographical information his head. “A pleasure to make your acquaintance as well.” He was never quite sure how children would react to the sight of the breathers attached to his cheeks.

” Yes I am think you scared mommy” she said with a grin.

” No he surprised me” She said

“My apologies,” he replied. “I did not mean to surprise you.” He looked at the young girl beside her. “Or frighten,” he added with a small upturn of one corner of his mouth.

He looked back to the ensign. “Was there something I could assist you with?”

” I finally had the chance to meet the new Captain. Given that cerenity was close to the previous caption I thought it best she get to meet the new one I’m hoping it will help her unfastened that Capten Cob is not coming back.” Luna said gently.

He nodded and sighed, mouth pulling into a straight line. “Yes, Captain Cobb was a good man,” he said, looking again to Cerenity. “I’m sorry you have lost your friend, young one.”

“There is a small service planned on the Starbase for Captain Cobb and Commander Rahuul,” he told Luna. “Perhaps that would help? And perhaps a visit to our counselor.” He had never been a father himself; he did not know what would be appropriate actions to take for a child. He had partaken of a counselor after his return from GN-z11 on Ark Angel for a few sessions.

” Rahull!” Luna said her eyes going wide she put her hand to her chest. She could not cry not now in front of Cerenity. He was unaware of how much she had cared. She took several deep breath.

Nivor furrowed his ridged brow, filing away the information; Perhaps a recommendation for the counselor to visit the family, he thought. It was not his place to interfere himself, but he needed to ensure the crew was functioning as well as possible.

” mommy” Cerenity said pulling Luna’s uniform.

” I’m ok cerenity” Luna said. Her defences quickly rising like a wall around her. Her expression was nutrol not giving any indication of the storm bring beneath the surface. ” how do you like the ship” Luna asked she was quick to change the subject.

” Where are you from” Cerenity asked.
Ensign Luna

He quirked the corner of his lip again as they spoke one after the other. “I have had only a little time to see the ship,” he admitted, holding up the PADD. “I have been inundated with administrative details. New cargo, new crew, authorizing repairs, et cetera. Captain Mackenzie has been in meetings with the admiralty since the ship docked.”

” I see I will worn you part of this ship are very dangerous don’t let your guard down. Anomaly’s have escaped and injured crew from time to time. If your not stratified with the RTF you would be wise to do as the RTF teams ask and stay out of the way.” Luna said a series but not disrespectful tone in her voice.

He nodded. “I appreciate the advice, Ensign Luna,” he responded. She was a security officer, and this was good advice. He’d have to double check his relationship with the RTF chain of command; he knew it was structured slightly differently than the rest of the ship.

He looked to Cerenity. “I am from Barzan II - they are not a member of the Federation.” He touched the breather on his left cheek. “We breathe a different air than most species do, so I have to wear these. And…” He crouched, and pointed to his left eye.

“See how my eyes are green? They are only like that when I am away from my home atmosphere. There, they are blue!”

” Your eyes change color that’s so cool. I can fly so can mommy” Dhe said opening her wings to show off. Luna struggled to keep from giggling. ” what kind of air do you breathe” She asked.
Ensign Luna

“That is indeed quite interesting,” he smiled at the young girl, admiring her wings. “They’re really beautiful.”

He shifted his feet slightly and stood, adjusting his uniform top. “The Barzan atmosphere has many gases that are toxic to most species, but that mine has evolved to require. This breather helps transform the mixture of Federation standard class-M atmosphere to what my body needs.”

He hoped he wasn’t going into too much for the child.

” Wow that’s so cool” Cerenity practically squealed with excitement. ” I wanted exactly how they work. I beet I can find it in the ships computer” She said practically bouncing off the walls. Luna shook her head.

” children there so much fun wouldn’t you agree.” Luna chucaled. ” how long have you been abord” she asked. She had been watching the interaction studying the XO silently bit chose to speak again now.
Ensign Luna

“I believe you will find information under the topic atmospheric plasmolysis,” he told Cerenity. He himself had started a fascination with engineering around her age. And that had led him here… and away from his home.

” Thank you” cerenity said with a smile she looked to luna as if asking permission to leave. Luna nodded. ” Good by it was nice to meet you” Cerenity said the was gone to look up the information.

“I have rarely truly interacted with children,” he told the ensign. “So I tend to be uncomfortable around them.” He turned back to her, relaxing a little and shifting his weight to one leg. “I have been here two days,” he responded to her second question. “And been busy almost the whole time. With the repairs Leviathan underwent we’ve had inspections, new crew, new cargo, and all of it requires authorization and their own inspections. And that’s my job as first officer.” He shrugged. “Haven’t had much time to settle in just yet.”

” She is way to smart for her own good honestly. She is not your average child and stays out of trouble most of the time” Luna said. She lotions quietly. To the rest of his answers. ” I see, do you have any combat training are you able to defend yourself?” She asked.
Ensign Luna.

Nivor watched the young girl leave before turning back to the ensign, an eyebrow quirked. “I am phaser certified, and hand to hand certified as required by Starfleet. I tend to stay in my lane and let security personnel deal with most things that would require combat, unless it’s called for.”

” Your going to want to practice some combat you never know when or for how long you may need to hold your own for. Do you have any questions about the ship” she asked.
