It was that time of year that Raauhl hated, the odd between place after the new year and before the new year really kicked off. Starfleet’s reporting period was also well underway and now it was time to give each department their official feedback, with a pinch of salt of course as the MPAR’s tended to be a bit more of a constructive criticism than a pat on the back. He had scheduled appointments with all the department heads with the first being Security followed by RTF, Intelligence, Medical, Counselling, Science and finally Engineering. All had a thirty minute time slot starting from 1000hrs which meant Raauhl was going to be playing devils advocate for a few the better part of the day which explained the strong cup of coffee sitting to his right while he waited in the briefing room for Lieutenant Junior Grade Surda. A relatively new addition to their crew so he was hoping of a relatively easy interview.

Surda stepped into the room exactly on time, forced into the unusual position of not knowing what to expect. She met Raauhl’s eyes and her shoulders automatically dipped differentially. Had he been Orion, he would have taken it as a cue to begin. As he was not, she spoke aloud. “Commander.” she seemed reserved, waiting for him to take the lead.

Raauhl stood at her entrance and he smiled, in front of his was a portable LCARS terminal and a handful of PaDDs. “Please take a seat” he gestured to the seat which was just of to his right and the one closest to him on the large briefing room table. He waited for her to sit down before going into what would be the first of many interviews, most luckily were very similar.

“I am unsure if you have had to undergo an MPAR before some ships do them, some ships don’t and decide submit informal reviews of their departments. I like this approach because its an opportunity for us both to have open dialogue about whats been good and what could do with improving within your department and with yourself also.” he sat back down and clicked open his computer system. “The interview will be recorded and exported into text in which it will be given to yourself, the Captain and command. Before we start do you have any questions, if not can you please in as short paragraph describe how you feel your department has performed this reporting period and of course since you joined us, outlining any major events or mishaps.”

OOC: Feel free to improvise with the details as much as you want, refer to old posts/missions or just make stuff up! Ill be putting out an OOC note for everyone to help them figure stuff out!

Surda nodded. “This is an evaluation then.” She’d barely been a part of a department before, and Foreign Operative Insert-cover-name-here didn’t have to submit reports. “How long is a reporting period?” She had been CoS for two months, and on the ship for only a month before that. She was well aware it was an unusual promotion, prompted by unusual circumstances, but she was grateful for the oppurtunity.

“Well the MPAR is every year and falls between the annual reporting period. so roughly every 6 months you should get a report. Sometimes they are just informal reports sometimes they are like this sat down and talking about everything. I’m aware that you haven’t been around long but your really are still the best person to tell me about your department.” He said leaning back in his chair, he really hoped this wouldn’t be a difficult interview. “Dont worry about it to much, its just a conversation a structured one but a conversation none-the-less.

“Very well.” Surda leaned back. “When I first took the position, Captain Cobb asked me to focus my efforts on decreasing the animosity between Security and the members of RTF. To that end, I have organized a series of teamwork-building games, and I have found that the two groups are mixing outside of practice more often.” She loved organizing the games, and she didn’t plan to stop anytime soon. “There was a minor incident with green containment and a certain officer who wasn’t sleeping enough.” She paused, hoping he would clue her in if there was another direction he wanted her to go.

Ryder nodded taking a few notes, “I’ve seen the reports for your training they’re producing some really promising result so keep it up as for your crewman I never saw a disciplinary report so I assume it was handled within your department? I like that, less work for me and shows you can be firm but fair with your subordinates.” He read over some of his own points, “The brig seems to be behind an engineering inspection, any reason for that?”

Surda blinked. “Do I… request Engineering to inspect it? I’m fairly certain no one can get out,” She assured him, “But the technical parts… I’ll call engineering when I get back to my office.” She had locked herself and two officers in the brig for a shift, so she knew it was secure. “As for discipline… I haven’t needed too much. My officers come to me with problems, and we solve them.”

He nodded, “It is required that the Brig undergoes scheduled quarterly inspections I have no doubt that you can operate it and people cant get out but we deal with unusually demanding clients and the last thing we need is to have overlooked a missing bolt which allows something or someone to escape. Dot all the I’s and cross the Ts so to speak.”

“As for disciplining its good to hear you’re on top of things, I dont like dealing with it myself and if it reaches me then somethings gone wrong so well done on keeping my doorstep clean,” he placed the PaDD down, “So on me and my doorstep is there anything you have for me or the Captain to think about or to consider, this is an open forum so speak freely.
