Hurrying her step, Wright slid in the room after Harris without even giving the doors a chance to close between them. She didn’t know the reason as to why Calvin was walking into his Ready Room but she had more important things in mind. As the Intelligence Officer that she was, Molly might have walked in silently enough for Cal not to notice that he was no longer alone in the room.

“Medical might have found a potential solution for the women’s eating issues. One that doesn’t need to use members of our crew.”

There were no pleasantries. Just the point.

It was as if Molly had shot the man. With a sudden yelp, Harris leapt straight up about a foot off the deck and whirled around to face the Intel Chief as white faced as she’d ever seen him.

“Jesus Christ Molly!” He squeaked in an uncharacteristic high pitch. “How many frackin’ times do I have to tell you, stop with the Intel sneaky bullshit! I swear to god, you’re gonna give me a heart attack.”

Molly suppressed her will to roll her eyes. He had been Intelligence too once. He should know better.

Pausing to calm himself for a moment, Harris tugged his tunic straight, ran his fingers through his hair and with a soft sigh… returned to moving towards his desk.

“So…” The ship’s CO began in earnest. “… what kind of a solution are they proposing?” Harris asked, settling back into his chair.

“A neural stimulator.” Wright began. She remained unfazed, as if nothing had happened before their conversation. “The women feed on male neural energy. According to the Doctor, the neural stimulator is able to replicate said energy so that they can feed on it. They didn’t seem to like it, but they understood it was the only way they would be allowed to survive…” Molly sighed. It would be clear to Cal she found the whole situation slightly annoying. “Any news I missed out on while I was on the Brig?”
