CO's Ready Room - Get My Ship to the Shore, Autopilot (tag Buddy Cullum)

The Captain fled
If you can hear me please help me out
I’m drifting, away

Molly had heard the words on several occasions, usually sang in a cheery tune by the Bolians serving on board, but sometimes it seemed to have spread to other members of the crew as well.

The lyrics carried on but that particular stanza was the one that always seemed to be sang whenever she walked somewhere on the Dresden. And as the newly assigned Captain, she couldn’t help but think that the words were incredibly stupid. Either that or the Captain mentioned on the song was a coward that didn’t have what it took to go down with their ship as they should! It annoyed Molly to no end and just thinking about them made her cringe to the point where she had found herself turning on her heels and leaving the room.

And yet, when she had mentioned the strange phenomenon to her sister, Erin had seemed incredibly excited. She mentioned it was a song called ‘Autopilot’ by some band named Buddy and the Breen. It was particularly popular on Bolarus IX and Gavin would sometimes strum it on his guitar.

It was only when Molly had mentioned that one Buddy Cullum was part of the Dresden’s roster that Erin had, for the lack of a better term, freaked out.

“You need to get me an autograph!!!” Erin had visibly almost fallen off of her chair with enthusiasm.

“What!? That’s ridiculous! I’m not going to approach a member of my crew and ask them for an autograph.”

“Come on, Molls! Look. You’re always telling me how you never know what to give me on my birthday. So here it is. It’s not even been a month since I turned twenty-four! So, I’m telling you. I want Buddy’s autograph for my birthday!” The victorious smile on Erin’s lips told Molly she knew very well she had won the argument. There was no way she was going to deny her little sister a simple request, right?

Molly sighed. “Fine.” She managed to say between gritted teeth.

“Thank you! You are the best sister in the universe, Molly! And I mean that! I need to go tell Gavin… he’s going to go nuts!” Rolling her eyes, Molly slumped in her chair after Erin left the call.

Defeated she looked at the Ready Room’s door, deciding that it was probably less humiliating to call him in than to meet the man in a public space. She also knew that until she had done it, Erin would not going to let go of the subject.

With that thought on her mind, and in a sudden moment of bravery, Molly tapped her commbadge. =/\= Holloway to Ensign Cullum. Please report to my Ready Room. =/\=

Holloway, CO

Ens. Cullum had been on his first shift as Science Division Officer and he had lined the other security personnel in his division up to dole out assignments an assess them for the position of his assistant, he was nearly finished when the call came over the comm. The look of sheer surprise that crossed his face must have been humorous because several crewman chuckled. =/\=Right away, Sir, um, Ma’am, uh Captain!! On my way!=/\= He shot the group a glaring look. “NE Chaplin, you’re in charge while I’m gone.” Chaplin looked pleased with himself as many others rolled their eyes.

A few minutes later and Cullum was standing outside the CO’s ready room door. He had no idea what to expect. She couldn’t be merely introducing herself. A captain wouldn’t have time for individual meetings with the entire crew. It had to be some sort of mission. Either that or he was in trouble. Did the captain find out that he and Stores had been drinking actual alcohol in the crow’s nest? Surely it would fall to the XO for such disciplinary actions, he thought. Suddenly nervous he checked his hair in the panel beside he door and straightened his uniform.
