Not turning away from his work, but looking some what like a mad man punchining invisble keys and waving his hands at the air “I have already erected forcefeilds to protect critical components, but I could use another set of eyes figuring out how our friends got aboard and to stop them”

Mumbling seemingly to himself =^= Computer, give limited access to terminal ME 3 to Ensign Olsen, Please=^= “If you don’t mind looking at sensor logs plus, minus five, I am looking at the diagnostic logs to see what I can see there”

Now that Stores was satisfied that not only were the phaser banks and shield assemblies fully charged but that he had stashed every spare watt of energy into power banks in every consevable system around the ship and had spares qued up for transport from ships stores for the torpedo and fighter decks as well as repair and damage control teams. He could spare more attention to the problem of stopping another hostile incursion into his ship.

psionic emissions?! What the hell are those?

OOC,
Bump, I know it’s hard to be creative when your worried about the state of the world but a little escapism might be what we need…

OOC: That’s so odd, I could have sworn that I responded to this… like I know what the post I wrote said and everything. Strange.

Wiles paused to regard the engineer for a second before moving to do as he suggested. Ensign Osten pulled up the sensor logs for the moments before and after their adversaries were in engineering, looking for any kind of change in the scans that might provide a clue as to how they were able to materialize through the Dresden’s shields.

“I’ve heard of extremely rare instances where someone took advantage of the EM ‘windows’ that are created by the normal rotation of shield frequencies to utilize transporter technology through shields. But they would have to have intimate knowledge of our defenses to do so, and I didn’t even hear or see any sign of re-materialization…” Wiles’ brow furrowed. “What we’re dealing with here is probably entirely different and extremely advanced.”

Poring over the diagnostic logs for Dresden’s systems it takes a moment for Stores to realize that Mr. Osten is speaking. “What?” As soon as he spoke his mind caut up to what was said. “Spatial distortions don’t make me think of transporter technology, but I have been wrong before.”

Stores dives back into the logs to see if he can glean anything from how the ships systems reacted to the spatial distortions and the intruders.

Wiles found himself having difficulty focusing on the readings scrolling quickly past on the screen before him, as his eyes darted side to side every couple of seconds, expecting to see another of the light-beings blink into existence in the corner of his eye at any moment. He took his phaser out of its holster and set it on the console in front of him, hoping that would make him feel a little better.

Wile scanning threw the read outs Stores noticed the movement reflected in the screen before him. “Relax Star Fleet, trust your buddy to have your back.” Taping the consoles to adjust the EPS flow to a plasma canister that was being finicky about taking on the excess of power. “ Learn to watch the reflexions in the screens”. Chuckling” There is a tricorder in the locker to the left there, I have one watching my our back but it helps with the parinoia to set up your own.”

I realy ow this guy an oppoligy, he’s just a scared kid trying to do a tough job Stores thought. “Sorry about before”Stores paused to find the right words but failed Itend to act insted of think”. Seeing the canister full Stores took a second to rederect the plasma flow. “How are you and your partner, anyway?”

Wiles reflexively stiffened when Stores told him to relax, then glanced over his shoulder, perhaps a little suspicious of the engineer’s intentions. But he moved to the locker Stores had indicated and retrieved the tricorder before adjusting its controls to monitor for anomalies and setting it on the console he was working at. He craned his neck to experiment with looking into the reflection of the terminal’s glass, as Stores suggested.

Wiles peeked back again at Stores’ apology, his stone-faced expression softening. Then he checked the tricorder subconsciously before trying to focus on his work. “Don’t worry about it,” Wiles said a little too harshly. He sighed, then made a concerted effort to change his tone. “We’re alright. Rattled, obviously. But they didn’t get Astin bad, not like the chief engineer.” Wiles gulped and let his eyes trace Astin’s movements for a couple seconds as she patrolled the other side of main engineering. “She seems to be okay for now, but when we’re out of immediate danger she’ll need to go to sickbay, for sure.” Wiles lowered his tone and muttered to himself, “And I’ll need to go to the counselor.”

“I’m trully sorry about the Cheif” Stores pauses thinking beter of finishing his thought Cheif knew what he signed up for, this is the most dangerous gig on ship “down here we have to trust you asecurity people to have our backs wile we focus on keeping the ship running” glancing up to see the reflexion of Austin moving behind them “ Don’t know about the Security side of things, but from an Enginering view we’re stable if you want to relive her out and send her to medical.”

Scrolling threw the diagnostic reading for every system hoping that he could glean a hint from their reactions to the aliens presence. If only he could figure out how they teleported and produced the deadly energy blasts, he could cook up a defense or atleast a nasty counter measure.

Letting go of his concernes for the young Security techs, Stores focuses on an interesting reading…
