Renveer hummed lightly to himself as he put the finishing touches on his new office. He watered the fern in the corner, straightened the throw pillows nestled in each corner of the couch, adjusted the angle of his chair, shifted the placement of his multiple degrees (both from Starfleet and Trill academia) on the wall. He looked around at the quaint space and couldn’t help but smile. It was still a little sparse, but Renveer entirely intended to leave room for items of significance that he collected from his travels on the Dresden.Settling into his wing chair and crossing one leg over the other at the knee, Renveer propped his PaDD on his thigh as he scrolled through the ship’s roster. Mostly human, it seemed. He pulled up the leading sociological journal on Earth, hoping to gain some nuanced insights into the cultures of the planet and its people.
OOC: If anyone wants to stop by and interact with the counselor, feel free to initiate that in this thread or create another one! I know the Dresden hasn’t had a counselor for a minute so if you’d like that experience for your character I’m down!
(Lt. Comm. Renveer, Counselor)
OOC, for some of us thats probbably mandatory ;-) we’ll see you on a “checking in thread and go from there.

It was Harris’s job to Command the Dresden. And it was Amelia’s job to manage her crew. Such was the dynamic of the CO/XO double. Most mornings the two met briefly before going about their day, and some days, usually once or twice a week, they met again to talk about the direction of the Dresden over a glass of whiskey.
As such, there was no one on board the Dresden that knew more about her crew than Amelia. She was the one that met with the staff and painstakingly filed progress reports, taking note of issues she saw, read, or heard of here and there. She prided herself in personally knowing most of the members of the crew, and in knowing exactly what was going on with each one of them. And given the fact that the Dresden was getting a new counselor after a couple of rougher missions without professional support, Manning thought it was best to personally bring up to the counselor some matters she deemed important. Amelia didn’t have access to the medical or the psychological files of the crew, but that didn’t mean that she didn’t observe behaviors, see changes, and especially with no counselor to fill the said files, many of them went unwritten.
That was why, carrying a few PaDDs with her, Amelia was walking up to the office of the Dresden’s new counselor, if nothing else, hoping to meet the man.
Tucking a stray hair away from her face and back behind her ear, Manning pressed the chime.
Cmdr. Manning, XO
Renveer looked up from his reading at the sound of the chime. “It’s open!” he called as an invitation to enter. When the door slid back to reveal the executive officer of the Dresden, Renveer rose to his feet quickly. Renveer wasn’t the most formal person, but he had great respect for the senior officers of any Starfleet vessel and liked to show it. He moved to close the distance between them, extending a hand with a smile. He would clasp his other hand over Manning’s if the handshake was accepted.
With a warm smile, Amelia walked in to the Counselor’s office. Tucking the PaDDss under her arm, she quickly took the offered hand in a firm handshake.
“Commander Manning,” Renveer greeted her warmly, “It’s a pleasure to meet you.” The corners of his dark eyes wrinkled slightly as he grinned genuinely.
(Lt. Comm. Renveer, Counselor)
“Likewise, Commander Renveer.” Manning said. The warmth in her expression reflecting that of the counselor. “I hope you don’t mind me dropping by.” Her eyes glanced around the room for a moment. “I see you have already settled in! I hope you have been enjoying your first days on board, and that you had a pleasant trip on your way over here. Hopefully the crew won’t give you hard time, at least not on your first week. We’ve been without counseling services for a while… so I think we grew accustomed to make do, but something tells me you will have your hands full in no time.”
With a distinct Earth English accent, it was clear that Manning was quite talkative, at least when it came to pleasantries and small talk. But the speed and tone in which she spoke told the counselor that she wasn’t there to chitchat.
Cmdr. Manning, XO
Renveer nodded and rubbed a hand over the back of his neck with a bashful smile. “I don’t think I’ve ever had such a rush to sign up for sessions, I’m already booked up for a good while. It sounds like the crew may have some catching up to do in the morale department.”
“But please,” Renveer said as he pivoted to arc an arm outward toward the loveseat-style couch, “have a seat Commander.” He moved to sit in his high-backed chair, placing the PaDD he had left there in his lap. “Any insights you have on what I can do to get started on the right foot would be greatly appreciated.”
