Domingo looked on shocked after surprising Katie with his question as he didn’t think it was anything to choke over. He hurriedly reached for a napkin and held it out in easy reach for her to grab.

“It’s been a whirlwind ride of activity with danger and combat aplenty. We’ve lost what seem like good people, but I find myself unable to mourn. I didn’t really know anyone.”

Katie accepted the napkin and used it to dab her watery eyes gently. “I understand that and, to a certain extent, it’s what you sign up for when you join Starfleet.” Her lips pressed together slightly as if she had more to say on the topic of Starfleet, but she quickly began to speak again. “Pop question - what’s your favorite meal?”

“Carne asada with fresh flour tortillas. A good scoop of guacamole on the side with some pico de gallo. I learned a bit of cooking from my abuela, but I can’t match her skill in the kitchen. I… wasn’t able to be there when she passed.” Domingo replied energetically before tapering off a bit somberly.
