The slight sway caught Katie’s eye as she tried to concentrate on helping Charlie with Orin. The hypospray had helped the pain but she still felt uncertain on her feet as she left her post on the biobed and made her way over to the man. A quick glance at his uniform revealed he was an ensign and the gold trim narrowed down his department, but he certainly looked a bit older than your average recent Academy graduate. Putting a gentle hand on his shoulder, she asked, “are you all right?”

Domingo’s eyes, which had lost focus again, swam for a moment before focusing on the woman speaking to him. He took in her uniform and rank insignia, briefly hesitating before responding, “No Ma’am. I believe I have at least a grade 2 concussion, bruised or cracked ribs, and weakness in my legs either from the concussion or some blood loss.”

It could be seen on examination that there was a head wound from which blood had been seeping, possibly as a result from the ship rocking and head meeting bulkhead.
