The lack of response to her comm badge combined with the terrifying sounds and the horror-esque view in front of her made Katie turn ghost white and shake even harder than she had after her nightmare. She bent over, breathing raggedly to try to try to quell the rising nausea from her stomach at the site of the corpse. She had no idea where to go or what to do at this point. She hadn’t been on a ship in so long and now it seemed they were in quite the emergent situation. Her first and only thought was to try to get to sickbay to support the doctors there and she glanced around, not even sure if a turbo lift was functional enough to carry her the two decks up.

The door to the turbolift shaft at the end of the corridor was ajar, but the light inside was still functional, indicative of its working status, for the moment at least. What she didn’t see was the two black suited and helmeted forms that rounded the corner behind her, at least until the golden burst of directed energy scorched the wall next to her head.

Katie let out a shrill scream as the energy blast hit the wall next to her head and she threw herself into the Turbolift, gasping for breath as she felt panic surging throughout her body. Get it together, Katie, she howled at herself as she screeched “SICKBAY!” at the Turbolift and then wrapped herself in a tiny ball behind the entrance to the lift. Tucking her head down into her knees, she waited.
