=^=Computer, where is Cpt. Holloway?=^= CAPTAIN HOLLOWAY IS IN HER READY ROOM. After leaving the shuttle bay Bethany made her way to her quarters, dropped her bag off and headed right for the bridge. It was possible the CO would be elsewhere by the time she got there, and that was fine. She’d find her one way or another. The iso chip the security officer was given would have already uploaded her biometrics, clearances, and complete record. Because of this, when the turbolift doors opened, Bethany stepped out onto the bridge, or from the looks of it, command center. She had already set the layout to memory and made no hesitation as she moved, without error to the door the led to the captain’s ready room. Bethany gave the bridge crew a once over, just to mess with them, and then pressed the chime on the CO’s door.
Lt. Gadi, CNS
“Come in!” Came the response. The tone was dry but not rude.
When the doors slid open to allow the Dresden’s new Counselor to walk in the room, the first thing to come into view would be a large work desk in the center of the main wall. In the far corner there was a small sitting area composed of a couch, an arm chair, and a coffee table. It was clear that that was a workspace, with the desk taking most of the field of vision, and the more social and laid back portion of the room tucked away.
Every single piece of furniture in the room was standard Starfleet issue, with the exception of the shelves that filled the bulkhead opposite the sitting area from top to bottom. There, a variety of books, mostly old and battered, filled the space, adorned with small trinkets here and there, and a multitude of glass terrariums of different shapes and sizes, ranging from small to medium. Some of the terrariums sat on the shelves with the books, some hung from various places. On the wall above the couch there was a scaled reproduction of one of Claude Monet’s waterlilies paintings, and finally, a few different items gave Holloway’s desk a more lived in feel – an old and battered copy of Jules Verne’s Journey to the Center of the Earth, a blue mug with UCLA spelled in large yellow letters, a larger spherical terrarium, and a holopicture of Molly herself and a man, laying on the green grass of a park, smiling happily at the camera. If Gadi was familiar with the Dresden’s personnel, she might recognize the man in the picture as Colonel Calvin Harris, the Dresden’s Marine Commander.
Holloway sat behind her desk, with a stern look on her face. Her fiery red hair was pulled back on a ballerina bun, making the large amount of freckles that dotted her pale skin very apparent. Despite having a porcelain look to her features it would be safe to assume, that was not farther from the truth. Her uniform was so immaculate that it would seem that it had just been pressed.
Standing up to welcome the new guest into the Ready Room, Molly gave the newcomer a polite smile. “Lieutenant Gadi, welcome on board. I hope you had a pleasant flight here. Please, take a seat.” She motioned for the couch on the small sitting area, as she moved from behind her desk and walked to the armchair. Despite the pleasantries, it was clear that Holloway was weary. And it would be especially clear for an empath like Gadi, even though the emotion itself seemed to be concealed under a layer of training that Intel had once given Molly. But even though Holloway had extensive practice in shielding others from accessing her mind, her body language didn’t seem to hide her weariness all that well. Or maybe she had just chosen to make it visible. Trust was something that Molly didn’t give very often. “Can I offer you anything from the replicator?”
